I was pleasantly surprised at every step of the car buying process at CarMax in Burbank. We were able to walk thru their car lot and just browse cars, at our own pace, without anyone stalking us or giving us ANY form of pressure to buy. The lack of sales pressure was really noticeable right from the get-go. We used the app for a couple months to look at their available inventory and figure out EXACTLY what car we wanted. The fact that you can have cars transferred from other locations for free with truly no obligation to buy is pretty awesome. That's what we ended up doing with the car that we bought. The actual purchasing process was really different from any previous experience I've had at a dealer. The sales staff are just regular, friendly, helpful people who don't make a higher commission by selling you a more expensive car. Plus, all the prices are set - and clearly visible on the outside of each car (and on the app). There is no haggling which makes the sales process way more straightforward than at regular dealerships. Getting the paperwork done was a BREEZE!! I cannot say enough about how simple and smooth this part was, compared to my prior experiences with buying and leasing cars. Everything was explained to me in very simple terms that were easy to understand, and I never felt like I was being upsold or swindled or ANYTHING. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who did the final paperwork step with us, she was so great. But everyone we dealt with was great! I have good credit and got a decent financing offer from CarMax, but they let you do this thing where you can buy the car from them (drive it home) and then they give you 3 days to find a better rate elsewhere, and they'll just switch it over for you with no hassle. So we did that - I ended up getting a slightly better APR from Glendale Federal Credit Union, so I brought a check back to CarMax 3 days later, and it literally took less than 60 seconds to complete that transaction. I COULD NOT BELIEVE how simple it was. I was just WAITING for there to be some catch, and there wasn't. When you buy a car there, if you find anything wrong with it within 30 days, they will fix it for you. Well about 32 days after we bought our car, my husband discovered the car was missing a tool part (a lugnut key). He called CarMax and they said if we buy the missing part, they would reimburse us for it. So we did, and they did! Instantly too, when we brought in the part and the receipt! My wife and I have been researching Lexus RX 350s for weeks and finally made our choice to go in and see a car that we've been looking at for days on the CarMax site. We were greeted by a host as we entered who then introduced us to Christian to show us around and the cars. We went on a test drive of one of the RXs there and he gave me a full rundown of the car and the process moving forward. No Haggle CarMax policy. Even with the no haggle policy the cars are still cheaper than what you would normally get in a normal dealership. At no point in the process was I pressured into buying it the car or did the sale feel fabricated. We actually went home to think about it and shop at actual Lexus dealerships where they kissed your feet and tell you empty promises. I ended up here after doing a return from another location. Sells person was nice but some how after going over the truck twice and deciding I was going to by it they take the truck back to the detail department to get it ready to go while I finish up paper work on the return... everything gets finished up and it is taking FOREVER over an hour for them to finally bring the truck out... I am handed one pair of keys and set on my way... the 2nd set of keys that where presented when checking the truck on the lot is now missing and a large dent appears on the back bumper with yellow paint imbedded into the bumper... they claim the truck didn't leave the lot to get gas but somehow it had a full take of gas and 2 miles of driving that where not precent on the other side of the parking lot. Hazel the service manager has now been blowing off my calls/text and emails regarding the rear bumper dent and my missing set of keys.... So, today I drove about 45 mins to this CarMax (Burbank) to try and sell my car or at least get an offer. As I walk in there was literally no one at the check in stand. Had to wait about 15 mins for someone to come ask me what I needed. Keep in mind there was about 10 people or more just siting on their desk doing nothing. Literally. 3 of them were talking and laughing around. One of the guys finally came up asked what I needed, told him I was there to "sell my car" and finally put my name down. He said it would be about 25 mins before someone could see me. That was fine, it took about 30 mins not a problem. Ok, so finally this lady named "Jeanne" called me in. I told her what I wanted to do "sell my car" and or see what CarMax would offer me. Before we even got to a desk where she could log in the car info she was already telling me "it's a waste of time"! Excuse me? I didn't drive 45 mins for someone just to tell me it's a waste of time without even looking at the car. We sit down, and she keeps telling me you're going to get a low offer, it's not worth it, it's a waste of time. She was literally just trying to get me out of their ASAP. Here's the funny part, at the computer she only put in the year, make, model, miles, looked up some references and done. Not to much work if you ask me. After that, she went back to her desk and sat there drinking her coffee patiently waiting for the Tech to finish looking at the car. So what was the waste of time? Half of the place no one was doing anything! Including her! Took about 15 mins to inspect, not bad, got my offer which was actually more than I thought it would be. Another man came up to assess the car would only speak to my boyfriend and even went as far as to interrupt me to speak to my boyfriend. This kind of chauvinism is not acceptable. Carmax is pretty legit! Depends on how you want to look at it, that is... I'm not here to say bad things or even make them look like they are the best. Cause everyone here knows what they are doing, and they are doing it damn well! "No haggle" pricing it's all just too good to be true. Plus the they "take care" of all of your DMV documents, which is always a plus! Easy parking when you roll in and the abundant variety of vehicles is beyond amazing so you will find the car of your dreams! You get greeted on the way in which is always nice, and you get assigned your own salesman(might take 5 min). After searching and finding my everything that fits criteria and budget. I ordered a 2012 gas guzzling Dodge Ram and after paying $100 (not so bad transferring from Vegas) I realized it's not for me! So luckily 100 bucks wasn't so bad but it's better than getting "shafted on gas" for the next 5 years with a vehicle I can't fully utilize. Obviously I went else where. It just didn't add up for me. This is beyond the most TERRIBLE experience I ever had. Carmax literally lied to me, made me waited for weeks and have been rude in times where I only needed a bit of reassurance about having a car to go to work. I went to carmax, gave a big cash down on car... after two days the car wasn't responding so I brought it back. 2 weeks later they told me I could pick it up. 30 min after, on may way home the car was showing problems. And then today, I was with my son driving errands and the car completely shot down on the high way, after they apparently fixed it... my son and I almost died In the most horrifing car crash.. the car computer went completely off.. it was the most scary experience. I found a great deal for a Camaro on their website. I was able to get it transferred to their Burbank location and ended up buying the vehicle. They pictures online are extremely misleading, pretty much false advertising because the car is a convertible and the top seemed to be in pristine condition. After I bought I the car I got the convertible top professionally cleaned (all along I thought the thing was just dirty). It seems the convertible top was actually badly damaged from the sun. When I called them about it while I was still in the 30 day warranty they had me take it in for that and other issues I reported, including that the vehicle made a noise and jerked to one side while breaking, and the tires would not hold tire pressure. After jumping through all the hoops they requested which included getting a written request from the salesman that sold me the car and his manager's approval, I took it in and long story short the convertible top "meets their standards" when asked for a written policy on what those standards are, they failed to provide them. Would you sell a car (car was not cheap at all) with that convertible top and claim it meets your standards? In regards to the other items on the list, all I got was "the technician couldn't replicate those conditions". I really don't think they even take the time to actually go through your vehicle and properly inspect it. How are you going to replicate my driving conditions if you only drive it for a block?! Now I have to take my car back because my rear left rotor has a nasty scratch being caused by normal driving and breaking conditions. Everyone were so nice, I felt like I got a good deal and that I did business with a great company. Like The majority of the world, I too suffer financially from COVID-19 circumstances. He explained the steps needed to get a trade in quote. I bought a BMW 2014 550i about a month ago and the engine is already falling apart. So I made the worst mistake I have EVER made with a car and let CARMAX fix it. The only reason is because they have a 90 fix for free policy that I could not void and activate my extended warranty, otherwise I would have because I have heard horror stories about the abhorrent ways carmax treats their customers. First off. I had a cracked headlight with a crack that I literally cannot even fit my finger through, it's that small of a space at the top of the drivers side head light. It happened in the middle of the night in the freeway, a semi truck in front of me hit it and it propelled it at my car. But like I said the crack is so small I can't even fit a finger through it. But because I know how delicate these cars are I was extremely worried about leaving it with CARMAX. And I made the mistake of trusting and believing the service manager Mariana. Because when I was dropping it off I was not wanting to leave it there but then she ASSURED ME that the car would be well taken care of. I explained that I just got it and that I love it and am very protective over it. And she personally guaranteed me that it would be handled with care and that they knew what they were doing. She even said that she will make sure they don't wash the car (because of the headlight and water getting in). And at the time I left the car the headlight worked completely fine it was fully functional there were not warning messages about it malfunctioning, nothing like that. Just simply a small crack that was not in anyway impacting the usage of the light. Then when I pick my car up and start it I see a bunch of warning messages about how the lights are malfunctioning. Again NONE WERE THERE AT THE TIME OF DROP OFF. So I get out and look and sure enough it looked like someone took a hose and just ran water into the little crack on the head light. It was soaked and blinking and making broken sounding noise... and they didn't even tell me that the car was further damaged under their care. So when I email and call. Mariana tells me they parked it outside in a rainstorm....... WITH A HOLE IN THE HEADLIGHT. And that ITS MY FAULT FOR LEAVING IT THERE LIKE THAT. And yes it's the same Mariana that guaranteed me nothing would happen and that if the car were to get damaged under their care they would fix it. Well THE CAR WAS DAMAGED UNDER THEIR CARE. It is either malicious intent and they did it on purpose (since she said the mechanic even noted the broken headlight) but then they parked it in a rainstorm outside without putting a simple piece of tape over it to make sure it did damage the cars electrical system... WHICH OF. COURSE IT DID... or it's gross incompetence. Either way IT HAPPENED UNDER THEIR CARE. And then Mariana has the audacity to tell me it's my fault. My car was damaged while under CARMAX SERVICE CARE. Plain and simple. My car was returned to me with a bunch of stuff wrong with it and damaged that was not like that when I left it. The headlight won't even turn off nor work properly. That's right they gave me my car back with a headlight that's permanently stuck on from water damage THEY CAUSED. Meaning I can't leave the car or else the battery will die. And it doesn't work properly at night time. It's insanely dangerous to give someone a car back without working headlights and say nothing to them. This is disgusting. I am disgusted. I missed 2 flights for this Bs. I am supposed to be starting pre production in Atlanta today and instead I'm screwing my job up dealing with this crap. I am mortified at how I have been treated. As I write this, I have been sitting in the service waiting area for more than 2 hours and 45 minutes. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Fernando, the service consultant with whom I had been dealing at Carmax, called me yesterday afternoon to tell me the part for my car that had been ordered a week ago was finally in. We made an appointment for me to come in at 9 a.m. this morning. When I arrived, I was met with a blank stare by the red-haired girl behind the service counter, who told me they "didn't have an appointment in the system" for me. Really? I had JUST spoken with Fernando to confirm the appointment less than an hour prior. After being told to move my car while she looked for Fernando, I walked back inside to find him on the phone with another customer, furiously tapping away at his computer keyboard and actively ignoring me. After five minutes he finally acknowledged me and I told him that I was told we didn't have an appointment. He told me no worries, that he knew I was coming in. Great. I was also told the service would take no more than an hour and a half. Fernando just walked in to tell me that the guy who would be installing the new touch screen on my 2012 Prius had JUST ARRIVED and had been "stuck in traffic." Would have been nice to know that!! This place is a pig f$&k. Completely disorganized and unprofessional. I love my Prius. But man, do I have buyer's remorse over getting it from Carmax!! P.S. I was thinking about selling my car and have always heard that CarMax is a great place to take it. I was wrong! I have a 2015 Lexus GS 350 F Sport that is in EXCELLENT condition with 65,000 miles. I also have a few upgrades, even without any upgrades KBB shows TRADE IN VALUE of $22, 057. After looking at my car for maybe a minute & a half to 2 min max, another gentleman came out and just handed me the appraisal of $17,000, which is laughable. I guess they just wanted to take it in for nothing so they can sell it and make ALL the money. Very frustrating. read more

Sold my car to car max today it was an easy and smooth transaction. They offered me $1000 more than the Cadillac dealer offered so that was great. Got there at 11am and was done with my paperwork by 1:00pm. Im sad to sell my car but I'm very happy overall I would recommend this place if you need to sell your car. read more

After a freak fire accident with our car, we went in to CarMax today to look at options. We spoke with a very friendly guy named Sarkis. He went on a test drive with my daughter. Discussed payment options. Gave some great advice to improve her credit score and really spent a lot of time giving us all the information we needed to make a well informed decision. While we did get a fair deal for our car we had an issue with our registration for the car they just purchased from us. Basically left us with having to pay registration that was due after we sold the car. Called Corp. Operator never picks up. I recommended them to friends earlier. Won't any more.
