So when my Check Engine light came on, I took it to my 3rd party auto mechanic, who said my '18 Volt needs a new EGR valve (failing emission) for about $4k out the door. By chance I called Community Chevy's service department and spoke with Jose. He checked the VIN and told me to come asap bc in a few day's my Chevy's manufacturer's warranty was going to expire - and if that was indeed the case, the EGR valve would be 100% covered. I rushed there, dropped it off, and Jose courteously took care of me, and arranged a free Lyft back to my home. Despite being backed up, he called me the following day to say my vehicle's EGR valve was faulty and has been replaced, free of charge! I was so happy and thankful. I took it home on a Friday, but in the evening, the Check Engine light came on again! I was scared because I knew my car's warranty would be over by Monday, so I left a message with the dealer's receptionist, voicemail, and texted their department - I wanted to make sure there was written record I was contacting them about this issue BEFORE my warranty was up! On Monday Jose called me, apologetically, said not to worry that they'd take care of me... I took in the car, he apologized again for the inconvenience, said they'd not only give me a free oil change, but would take care of my car rental.. for FREE! They even had a Lyft take me to the rental place! A few days later Jose calls to say another EVAP component failed, along with them finding a bolt puncturing the AC line, and other repairs - all completely done for FREE. I have never had this happened to me - such a positive experience. They stuck by their word, on a warranty I didn't know existed! I probably saved about $6-7k in repairs by randomly calling these guys, and they found more issues that were promptly fixed. if you have a PHeV or Electric Chevy, and it's 8 years old or less, CALL THEM ASAP don't pay for your repair! So happy with my experience, and Jose's friendliness! ALSO NOTE - if your PHeV or Electric Chevy's original sale was in California, there is a state mandated 15-year / 150,000 mile warranty on emissions (except battery), or, a 10-year / 150,000 mile warranty for the battery - for certain vehicles. Google "California Air Resource Board" - this is SEPARATE from the Manufacturer's Warranty, and you may get pushback from the Dealership. Just research and educate yourself and save money.. like me! Carlos was the person who specifically explained this supposed "discount" system to us. After speaking with GM ourselves, we were left with the impression that we had been given misleading information in order to justify additional charges and services that we did not need. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. If you're considering taking your car here, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion and verifying any claims about manufacturer discounts or coverage directly with GM before agreeing to additional work. This employee then continued to speak, explaining that they do not accept walk-ins after this time so the availability of their workers. After receiving this information my family and I left. I don't have an issue with their policy or procedures regarding walk-ins. I have an issue with the lack of professionalism and customer service. There were several employees available who could have stated this information upon our arrival. However they continued to ignore my family and I. A little courtesy and respect goes a long way.
