    I've been after my dream car since 2013, and thanks to Benjamin Barreto at CarMax, it's finally mine. Above and beyond doesn't even begin to cover it. I kept calling and staying in touch, and Benjamin was always ready with updates. When the car finally became available, I made the drive, and he was just as excited as I was. I've never met a salesman that invested and dedicated. The whole experience honestly felt like I was buying a car from a family member. I rarely leave reviews, but Benjamin is the guy to go to. And I'll say this. CarMax executives should seriously consider putting Benjamin in charge of training their sales reps on how to treat customers. I'm not joking. Someone should follow up with his past customers, and I'm confident they'd all say the same thing I am. Give this man a promotion. He's earned it.

    I'm here on Yelp to leave a review because I previously left one on Google, and they responded telling me to get in touch so they could resolve my issue. However, they only reply to reviews claiming they'll help just to *look* like they're going to help. In reality, they won't do anything they promise. Following that response--which you can see in the photo I posted here--I contacted them countless times, but to no avail. In short: the level of service you receive *before* you buy the car is one thing, but once you've made the purchase, everything changes.

    Why does CarMax insist on covering up body damage with flat black paint instead of actually fixing it? I saw a car I was interested in but immediately got turned off by the random strip of flat black paint. Not only does it make the car look goofy, but if they choose to cover up paint, what other damages are they covering up (mechanical, i.e.)

    I believe I worked with someone in the business office named Dalu, but that could be a little off. (He's at the Serramonte store in CA, just south of San Francisco.) Anyway, he is fantastic. Very nice, very patient, always willing to try something to help. He talked to me about living in the bay and the holiday season--it was really nice to connect to someone in that way. We both remarked on the fog that day. And how unexpected to do it at a car transaction. But still very welcome. I would be absolutely shocked if Dalu was not a manager by like tomorrow. Keep that guy close, and just hold on to his coattails. I mean, he might never even come down. Not anytime soon, that is. If you go here--and you should--just ask or wait or come back for Dalu, and enjoy the best car buying/selling experience in the west.

    This place does not care about their customers. Be prepared to wait for a LONG time even you made appointment and confirmed it. They won't care

This particular vehicle and really their entire inventory stood out as being well maintained, low-mileage, and priced more competitively than just about anything else I was seeing. I was surprised to see that their Google score was at 4.6 over 200 ratings which seemed impossible given the reputation of car dealerships, but I quickly realized how they earned such a strong rating. At every step of the process from their initial response to my inquiry email, to scheduling a by-appointment-only test drive, to completing financing paperwork, the team at Century was as accommodating, genuine, and low-pressure as any car buying experience I've ever had. Shout out to Du and Scott who helped me and even stayed very late on a Friday to get the credit applications and other paperwork in order. If you're looking for a pre-owned EV at a great price and you also value a no-pressure, transparent buying experience, absolutely check out Century Auto.

It seems like it can be good in the right circumstance, but it's worth being a bit careful about it. A friend highly recommended the advisor, saying that they'd saved her a lot of money on her car lease and made the process easy for her. I called and talked for over an hour to the advisor. They were knowledgable and friendly - great customer service. I figured that I may be able to save a little money by looking for a deal myself, but that I wanted to save the time and hassle, so the cost would be worth it. Also, I liked the idea that Cartelligent had access to better deals than I would by purchasing at volume from fleet managers. My plan was to lightly get offer prices myself, compare them to the price Cartelligent got, and then hopefully having validated that they were beating my price sufficiently, I could use them forever and rest assured that it was a worthwhile deal. I reached out to a few dealerships and got opening offers. I was shocked when my Cartelligent advisor came back with an initial price that was worse than three of the five dealerships I'd reached out to, and that was before their $600 fee. When I explained this, they responded a little defensively and asked for proof I had better deals. When I provided it, they came back the next day with an offer $50 a month cheaper than the one they first sent me - a cost difference of $1,800 over the course of the lease! Thank goodness I'd looked on my own and not taken their word for it. The experience shook my faith a bit, so I decided to negotiate with the other dealerships myself and compare. Once I got a bit further into the process, I gave Cartelligent the ability to win my business if they could get to a specific number by dropping their quote a little further. They were unable to do so, so I kept negotiations up elsewhere. Specifically, when I asked if they could get to that number, the whole email they wrote back was "That's awesome. That's a great deal" and that was the last I ever heard from them. With a little bit of work, I ultimately was able to secure a lower price than Cartelligent had before taking their $600 fee into account. Using Cartelligent would have cost me many hundreds of dollars more than negotiating on my own over the course of my lease. At the same time, I was trying to sell my car through them. I did their thorough online process, taking pictures and filling out the form. After it was clear I was going to negotiate a bit and not just take their first price, I stopped hearing about the sale process from the advisor. After the "That's awesome" email, I never heard back from them again, even after asking for updates on the sales process over email. They ultimately never gave me a quote on my car. I think they got mad at me and ghosted me, which I found surprising and unprofessional. It's possible I was able to get an unusually good deal because the EV market is weak right now. The second quote - the one $50 lower - was reasonable, and it did take me a little work to beat it. However, it was clear to me that you should always do your own due diligence and get quotes to check the ones they give you. If you do that, ultimately, you aren't really saving yourself that much work, so I'm not sure the $600 fee is worth it. Edit: David reached out, and we talked about my experience. He sounded as surprised as I was by my experience, and he's looking into it. I was impressed that he would follow up!

Throughout it all, I appreciated that Jeremy was knowledgeable, no-bs, patient, and responsive. I never had to communicate with the dealer at all, until I showed up at the dealership for my test drive, where the salesman had all the paperwork ready to go. From test drive arrival to leaving the dealer with my new car, it only took 2 hours, which feels pretty efficient. I don't really understand how Jeremy gets paid because he didn't charge me for anything, but I'm so glad I found him.

Both experiences were delightful, stress free (who would associate stress-free when you buy a car?) and quick. No hassle car buying - that should be his business's title. He helped us narrow down the list of cars we were looking at and make a decision that worked for us. He also scheduled all the test drives, negotiated the prices, and pointed us to a specific person at the dealership, a complete VIP experience. He did the same for our friends just this week, they bought a great car in a great condition, he negotiated the price down and steered them away from less desirable options. My friend was nervous (just like I was before ) because the process of buying a car is stressful. But after they got into the dealership and the car was waiting for them, they test drove and bought the car. My friend said: who would have thought that I can enjoy buying a car! And that's all thanks to Jeremy. Believe me I'm not hyping him up, he is professional, kind and customer centric. Thank you Jeremy!
