The Hype is real...!!! A car dealership with almost 5 **** with over 2 K reviews?! Wha?! Believe it! I was a skeptical, but I chose Putnam Mazda based on the reviews. We had the pleasure of working with Duchih Yu. A gentelman and a scholar. Just one of those nice, decent, honest, forthright and upfront guys. No BS. If he doesn't know the answer, he will tell you so... doesn't try to sell you any BS. I'm sick of the Germans at the moment, no more for me. The maintenance costs are ridiculous and the dependability / reliability isn't there at all... rolling piles of electronic nightmares. I'm in the hunt for a reliable commuter that just works, something that is dependable, reliable, robust and is low maintenance. I also want something a bit different that the traditional choices. Hence I choose to look at Mazdas. After some brief research, the verdict is reliability is on par with Toyota and Honda now, especially since their split with Ford... a partnership I never understood in the first place. I test drove the Mazda 3 sedan... it just wasn't for me. Duchih looked through his inventory and gave me a breakdown of the trim levels and addressed all my concerns. I get there at 12:30 and the service advisor Anvar Masgutov says that their last appointment for Saturdays are at 11:30 when we mention to him what Emily had said over the phone he looked dumbfounded and like he had been caught in his own lie. Very Disappointed with Putnam Mazda and Mazda Customer Service I purchased a brand new Mazda CX-30 in 2021 from Putnam Mazda, only driving around 4 years and less than 12,000 miles , I noticed paint issues on the vehicle. The car is still well within the warranty period (under 36,000 miles), but the dealership refused to take responsibility, claiming it was not a quality issue. Instead of helping me resolve this under warranty, they told me to contact Mazda directly. I did, but unfortunately, Mazda also refused to accept responsibility. After weeks of back-and-forth, neither the dealership nor Mazda offered any real support or solution. I also bring my car to JP auto body shop to check, they also told me it should be the terrible paint issue from Mazda, need to go back to dealership to ask them to cover the warranty. I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of accountability and poor customer service from both Putnam Mazda and Mazda USA. I expected much better from a brand that claims to stand behind its vehicles. I had the opportunity in brokering a Mazda vehicle purchase for family members located in the greater Sacramento area and Putnam Mazda was able to provide the best competitive offer for the vehicle over nearby Mazda dealers at Elk Grove, Roseville, etc. Putnam Mazda alongside their other dealership brands represents a massive inventory and higher volume sales that is apparent through their commpetitive pricing and scaled professionalism compared to the smaller local dealerships. Brought in a Mazda 3 that stalled while driving in the middle of the road. I towed the car to their shop and I paid for a $200 diagnostic. The conclusion of their diagnostic stated that the throttle body had buildup and the MAF sensor was broken. They wanted me to pay over 2000 dollars to replace the MAF and throttle body assembly. All that actually needed to be done was clean the throttle body with a 4 dollar can of cleaner and replace a $150 Mazda brand part which required removing 2 phillips head screws. When I refused the service and came to pick up the car the battery was completely dead. I'm not understanding why they completely drained my battery; and I was forced to buy a new one. Horrible experience which completely ruined my trust with this business. Every other mazda dealer I have been to has been top notch and even provided pictures of the parts/condition of the car. I had to repeatedly ask for the results of the diagnostic work done to find the problem. $360 dollars in labor to replace a sensor attached with 2 philips head screws? The proof is in the paperwork. I wish I could give zero stars. This has been the most frustrating experience I've ever had with a dealership. We purchased a used 2018 CX-5 from this location and extended the warranty to cover 100,000 miles until 2028. However, every time we've gone in for service, the dealership has no record of our warranty. This has happened not once, not twice, but multiple times. The first time, we were told it was a mistake in the finance department, with the wrong name on the warranty. Now we find out that the real issue is your team never submitted the warranty to Mazda. Because of this oversight, the warranty doesn't show up at any dealership, and we've been stuck spending entire days trying to resolve the issue each time. Most recently, this caused us to pay $303.85 out of pocket at Stevens Creek Mazda for a diagnostic fee that should have been covered under warranty. We had no choice because this dealership's mistake made the warranty invisible in the system. When I finally brought the car back here today, it took yet another full day to "resolve" the situation. This is completely unacceptable. Your repeated mistakes have cost us time, money, and immense frustration. As loyal customers who have purchased two vehicles here, this is an absolute dealbreaker. I've been getting my car maintenance and services done here ever since I first purchased my Mazda here the last 9 or so years. Even though this is not the closes Mazda for me, I still make an effort to make the drive here for my services. Staff were always friendly and approachable, knowledgeable, and felt taken care of. I've also worked with the same service staff. Never felt upsold on unnecessary services or repairs. However, in the last 2 or so years, I've noticed a shift in their service. I've started working with new staff. I go in for a simple oil change, and they already start selling me unnecessary services each time. They would offer 3-tiers of services ranging from $1,000- $1,500. These includes cleaning and different fluid changes. I recommend doing your research before coming here with the recommend service by Mazda stated in your manual or a simple Google search. BEWARE: They charge a 2% fee for credit card payments! I was told when I went in for service that starting this month, they now charge a 2% fee if you pay by credit card. Honestly surprised and caught me completely off guard as there were no written signage anywhere that states this 2% fee. read more

We have been looking for a new car for almost 2 years and we have found it challenging to make a decision. Do we go electric or maybe purchase our last gas car in CA? I recently ran my husband and eldest son around to many dealers to look at and test drive cars. We pulled into Putnam Mazda and met Vasily Rozhkov. He was easygoing, patient, and thorough with his knowledge/information. We made our way toward the CX-90, not only was the exterior beautiful, but it also ticked a couple of the other boxes we discovered during our search. We found that not all midsized SUVs are created equally, in leg or head space. Our 6'1" son fits just fine in the second row in both of these instances...yay! This gave us the confidence that almost everyone else would feel comfortable. I liked the exterior of the car but the inside is wow :-) It is comfortable and spacious. There are many fun options (cooling seats are amazing), and I like the new "heads-up" function and the driver-side dashboard screen options. I have upgraded from a 2003 Suburban and appreciate the old-school mph gauges (digital, of course). I like how it drives and I appreciate the hybrid aspect of the CX-90, I never thought I would drive a plug-in hybrid! I can run local errands, getting 25-ish miles, on the electric charge. For longer trips, I get decent gas mileage. When the time came to make the purchase Vasily walked us through the always awkward/annoying process of purchasing a car. Once the purchase was complete, Vas spent a good amount of time running through all the options in the CX-90. At no point did we feel like Vas was rushing us, he took his time and we went through all the options. After our set-up session, he gave us his full attention for any questions we had. Sid is one of the members for the Service department. My mom and I just appreciated how kind he was and the meaningful small talk opportunities he had with us. Staff were nice, especially the ones who were primarily with us the whole time, aka KONSTANTIN. If I am objective, I think it would be nice if all the offices were closed door offices. This dealership is shockingly rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. They don't care about their customers, offer no support, and even resort to threats. If you're thinking of going to Putnam Mazda in Burlingame, don't waste your time--go somewhere that actually respects its customers and stands by the quality of its cars. Avoid this place at all costs. I had an appointment at Putnam Mazda to address issues with the seats in my brand new CX-90. After just 300 miles, I was already seeing problems that you'd never expect in a new vehicle. I arrived on time, expecting help, but the experience quickly turned frustrating. When I asked about the seat issues, the service advisor told me I'd need to make a second appointment since diagnostics would take 12-48 hours. I asked if they could provide a loaner car, which is standard at most dealerships, but he said none were available. When I asked to speak with the service manager, Sidino Tocci, things went from bad to worse. He didn't listen to my concerns or offer any solutions, even though there were still three hours until the service center closed. Instead, he kept repeating that they didn't have a loaner car and couldn't do the inspection. Dismissively, he said, "We don't have any loaner cars. What do you want me to do?" When I questioned the purpose of my appointment if they weren't going to help, he became visibly irritated, pointed to a sign reading, "We can refuse service to any customer," and took a photo of my VIN, saying he'd report me to Mazda. What a joke! When I asked his name, he refused to tell me and even picked up the phone as if he were going to call the police--clearly trying to intimidate me. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this dealership. They're unprofessional, unhelpful, and create an atmosphere that feels unsafe. What I was not aware of when I made my purchase is that they charge 2% to use a credit card. Worse than that, they won't refund that charge when product is returned. In addition, they won't even give you your money back in a timely fashion. Instead of a credit card refund, they promised to send a check. Hopefully, they will actually follow through on that. In my opinion, not refunding all the amount and fees paid, on a refund, takes advantage of the customer. Avoid buying parts from this dealership. read more

Quick take: almost got scammed I came here in hopes of finding a new place in the Peninsula to service my car with quality parts and somewhat honest service. I am now in search of another option because the employees here are not honest. I was told from one service that my brake pads are so worn it needed to be replaced ASAP. I was given a report and information on how many percent of the pad was left. For financial reasons I did not go ahead with the service for brakes. I ended up coming back about six months later. Another employee told me my breaks are in great condition. The wear and tear on the brake pads have improved?????? This was told to me after driving my car for an additional 6 months from the time I was told it had to be changed ASAP. I got a report both times. So I brought up the fact that the condition of the brakes were much worse 6 months prior according to the reports they supplied. Instead of admitting the numbers previously might have been wrong the guy tells me I must be doing a better job driving and that my brake pad conditions have improved. How do I get more brake pad with an additional 6 more months of driving????? The reports might have produced inaccurate numbers. But the response to my inquiry was straight up bullshit. Not coming back here. Highly recommend somewhere else for service!!! read more
