I loved my sales guy did a great job !! the car was in excellent shape !!

After hearing good things about Carmax, I decided to go to sell them my truck and possibly look at a few vehicles. This Carmax has NO inventory. Hardly anything there, of course I was told they could transfer one and we did. But that was that. Would not even attempt to buy my truck until I test drove the transfer. So I was scheduled to come back. Came back only to be passed around for a few hours from sales person to sales person I test drove the vehicle. This minimal test drive around the block? Wouldn't even let me get it on the highway. Decided I didn't want it and told them I still wanted to sell my truck, basically told me they would not buy it and I would have to come back again during bank business hours, (I couldn't get there until after 5:30) (I had with me the buy off amount from my bank in their official letter head as well as the per diem cost per day if it took longer.) I had to come back the next day and complete paper work.... I was told everything would be ready and I would just have to sign paper work. I called prior to coming and was told everything was ready. When I got there they had no clue as to what I was talking about and I had to wait almost an hour with screaming kids to get the paper work done. CarMax has been the worst dealership I have ever purchased a car from. I made a purchase of a BMW 3 series. The test drive was smooth and great so I continued with my purchase. The following day when I was told my car is ready I get to CarMax and within seconds of leaving the parking lot I noticed a whistle noise coming from the engine. Long story short I brought it back in and they told me the engine was no good and that I would have to trade it for another car. I went back to CarMax to trade it in for a Chrystler 300c. I test drive the car and again everything felt good so I continued with my purchase. Days later I noticed the motor began to shake and all of a sudden my car turns off on me. I took it back to CarMax to get it checked out ( took them 3 weeks to reply with an answer ) the manager finally called back and said he would " personally jump on the problem " according to him the issue was fixed and he said it was good to go. Weeks later I noticed the same issues again. I decided to take it to my mechanic and he said that the job car max did on it was a temporary fix and that it caused the motor to no longer run. At that moment I noticed that CarMax will do temporarily fixes so that they can make money on there service department. I would never recommend this place for a used car, I fell for it because of the big name but it's the same scan as small dealerships. went in to get my car serviced that i bought from carmax a year ago they told me it would be best to take it somewhere else they told me that carmax charges to much at 190.00 a hour ,they are by far the worst service center i have ever been to. read more

ACCIDENT REPORTS THAT TELL THE TRUTH? I purchased a 2010 Hyundai a few days after I arrived in Texas. I was assured by the sales representative that CarMax did not sell cars that had been in an accident. This is interesting for two reasons, the first of which is that the Hyundai has been nothing but trouble since I bought it. The second of which concerns what I learned when I had it evaluated as a possible trade-in. It seems that the CARFAX report reveals that my Hyundai had been in an accident about a year before I bought it, which explains the problems I have had with the front end, and it also makes the trade-in value almost worthless. I have bought two vehicles from this location and both times got a great deal. Even after financing the extended warranty which gives the option of either using the manufacturers dealership and paying a $50 deductible or using Carmax for the repair and waiving the deductible it was still the best price by far on anything I comparable I could find at another dealership. I have heard things about other peoples experiences but this was my second purchase in 8 years from them and I couldn't be happier. read more

when i purchased my vehicle a 2015 nissan sentra i was excited and received information that everything was checked prior to purchasing my vehicle, needless to say as i was driving it more, each and everyday lights would come on, check engine light, you could hear a noise in the rear of the vehicle rattling, the traction light came on, and the tire light, i was angry and called the service center they advised to bring my vehicle in, i was told it was a mass air flow sensor, .3 bad tire sensors a bolt for the shocks was loose and i wasnt given the kit to keep my spare tire accessories together i was given a loaner they were in a hurry to give me my vehicle back and was called in two days that my vehicle was complete i have to come back due that there is a rattle now when i turn on the ac and still hear a rattle in the rear of the vehicle now if they really checked this vehicle prior to selling it they couldnt see all these issues that occured i will never come back to this carmax and will never recommend anyone come here my family and myself has purchased many vehicles from carmax but i dont know if i will ever again!!! read more

Worst car buying experience of my life. I am currently going on an hour of sitting in the waiting room to resign all the paperwork for a vehicle we purchased a week ago. In the 7 days since our purchase I have had to make 5 separate 45 minute trips to the dealership. Three of the times was to redo paperwork requiring me to "return" the vehicle and then go back through and resign all documents. This time it's because they "didn't notice" that there was only one person on our auto loan and "accidentally" had my wife sign as a co-buyer so we have to go back through the entire process. To make matters worse in told something has changed in their pricing so we are waiting the insane amount of time for them to rework the numbers to get us back to the original purchase price. Included in these 5 trips is returns to fix all the ridiculous issues no one should deal with in a new vehicle. Battery died in the keyless remote, FOUR lights gone out (including a headlight), and they still haven't replaced the broken speaker grille in the back of the vehicle. Before we arrived today I had already made the drive out to the dealership after receiving the call about the paperwork needing another to be redone again due to tier error just to be told when I arrived (by the unbelievably rude sales manager) that I needed the new vehicle with me to complete the process so I needed to go home and return as soon as possible. This message was not relayed by the person who contacted me so I spent my time and gas money on a 1.5 hour round trip for their mistake. Again, this is the worst car buying experience I have ever had and I will be sure to share my experience with everyone I can to help others avoid the stress, headache, and fuel on multiple return trips. read more

So this is a long and weird review but after seeing some of the others on here I felt like I should I visited the Cy-Fair Carmax 4 times. I test drove two models on the first visit. I stuck to the set out route but that was fine with me. Then I had a vehicle transferred from another store (which only took 1 day). That one I came over and had no problems driving it on 290. I knew I didn't have time to buy it the day I did the first test drive. I came back and there was a wait while my car was appraised but all in all a pretty painless process. The only decision I needed to make was what extended warranty I wanted. (They have difference odometer and deductible amounts to choose from). The sales guy (Aaron) was excellent and never "passed me off" as I see others have commented. I wound up returning the car but that process was actually easier than buying it had been... I was in and out in 10 minutes. I got a check back in the full amount I had paid them. I wound up getting a brand new car but would definitely head back if I were getting a used car. read more
