I had my car shipped here from California, the car had parts missing under the hood along with the battery dying on me on my way to get the car serviced for all the leeks it had. I had them try and fix it but they only fixed part of the problems. I asked if I could have my mechanic fix it and they pay for it and they said no, it had to go to them but I explained you didnt fix the problems! anyway I had my mechanic fix the car then contacted there corporate office after a short couple of days I was told NO, I'm out $3000. The only gripe I had about my experience was that CarMax West Sahara is not equipped to sell electric cars. If you're looking to buy an electric car or a plug-in hybrid, look elsewhere. CarMax West Sahara doesn't even bother to keep their electric cars/plug-in hybrids charged up, so there's no way for you to determine the vehicle's battery-only range (which is extremely important for buyers to know!), nor can you really experience what it's like to drive the car in electric-only mode. ACTUAL STAR RATING: "0" I'm not sure if I should laugh or get angry at what happened today at the Carmax located at 6755 West Sahara Ave. My brother-in-law and I came here to purchase a car. We walked inside, watched the salespeople mill about without approaching any customers, including us. Waiting around for the handful of less than enthusiastic and helpful salespeople wasn't an option, so we searched and found a few possible vehicles ourselves. After about 30-45 minutes, we came inside and asked for a salesperson again. We sat for over 15 minutes before a less than courteous and friendly salesperson approached us. I've been in the military, and believe me; this guy made me feel like my old drill sergeant was grilling me. How are you going to finance this car? Do you have a down payment? Is your credit good enough? One rude and obnoxious question after another before he even knew what cars we were interested in or the prices were? He then finally decided to look into the cars we told him. When he opened his computer and entered my name, I noticed his demeanor changed, if that was at all possible. To begin with, he was pretty unfriendly, so I didn't much care about his facial expressions. That is until he got up and walked away without so much as an excuse me. We must've sat there for over 5-minutes when an oversized guy marched over and sat down. He first said that he was a manager and then stated that CarMax had the right to refuse customers they deemed "unfit or abusive," and I was one of them. He then asked me to leave. At that moment, I remembered that over 10-years ago, my wife and I had purchased a car from their Henderson location. The vehicle had a peculiar and disturbing sound that emanated from the engine, and we brought it back three times for CarMax to make good on its 30-day guarantee. We wanted to keep the car and asked if we went over the thirty days and they couldn't make the sound go away, would they accept its return and our salesman told us, "absolutely." We gave Carmax 33 or 34 days to repair that car, and finally, I told them we wanted our money back. Of course, the manager then got involved, and the salesman denied telling us that we could "absolutely" return it. While I never lost my temper, patience, or composure and never made any threats, I can be pretty insistent when $35,000.00 is on the table. The bottom line was that they took the car back and refunded our money a week or so later. When we left, I even shook the manager's hand and thanked him. Ten years later, I am persona non grata at all CarMax. And to the first question I raised at the top of this review, I have to laugh at a company this size being so petty and keeping me in their database for more than ten years not to sell me another car. How ridiculous and small can a multi-billion-dollar company get? And by the way, if CarMax keeps black-listing people, they may go by way of their other company, Circuit City, which went belly up 15 years ago. There are no pictures for this place because I will not promote a business that black-lists people for less than justifiable reasons. Let me tell you a little story. I bought a 2013 Mini Cooper from carmax on Sahara 2 years ago for about 18k with the "max care" extended warranty . I maintained the car on a regular basis. Never really went anywhere. As of 3 weeks ago the car had about 73k miles on it. On a trip back from California it went into limp mode , every bell and whistle came on and it.. just.. died. Good ol Max Care wouldn't even offer me a tow because it was a Sunday and they didn't have anyone. So I payed out of pocket $1200 to a local tow company (and a night in a hotel) to get it back home to Las Vegas. When I called again about the tow or any kind of reimbursement (since towing is "covered") they told me they could reimburse $100 out of the $1200. But then the fun really starts. The repair shop ( which they referred me to) let me know the car would need a full engine replacement... the coils had fully melted and the compression was jacked up. However, Max care had their adjuster come out and said they would not cover it.. ney ney. They instead demanded i pay over 2k to deconstruct the engine and determine if it overheated in any way.. and if it did .. they would not cover jack because that would be my fault. It had MELTED COILS so my guess is it overheated. Great service right? Mind you at this point i owe 13K on the car... an engine replacement would be 5k... and with labor 8k. It gets even better. Three weeks now without a car.. I get it towed back to the carmax dealership where it was purchased, hoping for an appraisal and possible trade in. Guess how much the car is appraised for.... 2k...... lolololol. But I say screw it .. lemme trade it in and get something that runs. I can't afford 2 car payments , fml. I pick one of the cheapest cars on the lot .. an old Kia Soul for 11k. They tell me I need to put down a down payment of 8k hahahahha. When i said no, that number magically changed to "4k". Hahah . Oh also they had to run numbers multiple times because the sales rep put in my income wrong .. cool. So here I sit ... in the middle of carmax .. goin on 6 hours now. They made me clean out my car (pic below). And I'm just sitting .. waiting .. with my belongings on the floor. I don't even know what I'm waiting for.. #emotionally spent. Don't sign up for max care .. it's a lie. And really do your homework .. read the fine print. Honestly just don't trust anyone but yourself when buying a vehicle. This Place Carmax West Sahara is a total SMH. Just like most of the reviews here. The service is terrible. I was shopping for a Honda Passport and since the inventory everywhere is almost none i opted to look into Carmax. Art the sales guy i worked with was awesome! But that's just in the beginning. I found my Honda he helped me like a regular car salesman will do. As soon as i made my payment at the register. The final paper work took hours to get. They have to make corrections on the car report. The paper was signed off - Art was just rushing me to do the walk around the car. I found dents, rock chip, scratch and curb rash. He noted all but thr curb rash. He told me they wouldn't do it. I set up an appointment for service and showed them the repairs needed and told them the curb rash. They told me they wouldn't do it because it wasn't written on the order form. Service told me to talk to Art about it. Here's where it gets mind blown. Went to carmax talk to Art. I told them your policy states it's covered for 90 days and will repair the necessary repairs. He replied " It's a used car! They all have curb rashes and scratches. If you want you can return it with the 30 day return policy. Just don't get me involved i got nothing to do with it". He walked away. I went to service and told them the same exact thing Art said... Brandon the inventory manager assisted me and took a look at my complain. It's legit! Their standard is with a 4" or more rash on the wheel will need to be repaired. He apologized for Art costumer service. I got my rental provided by them til the repair is complete. If you want to sell your vehicle here that's fine. I wanted to wait until all of my dealings (pun intended) with Carmax were done before I made my review. And that was today. Jeff (my salesman)- Top notch! From the first time I spoke to him over the phone, he was very helpful, informative, easy to contact, friendly, funny and honest. Our first conversation did not end with a sale but he was fast to get my car delivered from Arizona the second time around. My car arrived in excellent condition with financial agreements exactly as discussed over the phone. I did not purchase the extended warranty and he was not pushy at all. He had discovered the trunk of my car would not open unless I used my car remote before I drove off the lot so he suggested I make an appointment before the 30 day warranty expired. I had no problem with that. Carmax repair- My father passed away a week after I purchased the car so I had to leave the country for a couple of weeks. When I came back, I called them to make an appointment but they couldn't squeeze me in before my warranty expired. The guy on the phone said the warranty would still apply since I was calling before it ended. Today was my appointment at 9am, I had my husband drop off the car. He was driven back to our house by Carmax while they fixed the car. Katie, called me at 3pm the same day to tell me that my car was fixed and ready to be picked up. She was very pleasant on the phone and in person. The only thing that I was not happy about was, I had taken my car to Alamo car wash just last week and got the gold package. My car was spotlessly clean, and when I got it back, my windows had water spots. Down 4 stars for that. Overall, my experience was positive. The car in excellent condition. The staff was well trained in customer service and knowledgeable. The establishment was clean and well maintained. My husband can't wait to deal with you guys when he's ready for his next car! This location does NOT even deserve any stars...whatsoever. This feedback is specifically for West Sahara Las Vegas location. Jordan who helped me over the phone created the appointment on July 2 at 5pm. Arrived a few minutes early, checked in with the guy on front desk, was told that there was one customer ahead of me... and that I will be helped next. After 37 minutes of waiting, not ONE person checked on me! It was obvious to some staff members close by that I am getting anxious. At 5:40, I left. 10-15 minutes later, someone called me, did not introduce himself, asked me where I was, and as I was responding to him, he abruptly hung up the call. What an ill-mannered person!!! Such an unacceptable way of dealing with a prospective customer. I am utterly dumbfounded by the kind of service I received. I will ensure to tell everyone I know to NOT go to CarMax. I will continue to share my very bad experience and post it to any social media outlet available. Today I came into car max for a test drive and it was hella weird the want you to take a picture of yourself right then and there after you give your ID(which has a picture of you) and the insurance card so that can use your picture to post on there page for advertising purposes. They will not let you test drive the car without sending a picture which is disturbing. I do not want to be forced to take a picture at any time to be used for any type of advertising. Then said we'll buy the car and return it if you don't want to take a picture of your self right now.. This really made me just walk away from car max I have bought over 4 cars from car max and never really had a bad experience expect for today. They held the car I wanted for 4 days as I needed to get some things in line. Marquiesse called to check up on me, even on his day off!! He offered friendly service and great advise. Probably one of the better experiences I had at a Car Dealership. Spoke with a Consultant named King, good guy very honest. I've had my Mustang for 14 years and to part with it was like ripping out my soul. Made the process as simple as he could. CarMax appraised my Mustang for more than what I thought it was worth, so I was thankful for that. Was able to walk the lot wth my Dad in tow so I could get him to look at the engine. King provided varying options in cars to look at within my price range and keeping in mind my actual wants and needs for a vehicle. We opted to look at 3 different vehicles, the car I Want (2008 Honda Accord Coupe), Need (2013 Ford Focus), and One To Consider (Ford Escape). King explained the process throughout the time I was there. Giving me time to walk away and talk about it and decide what I would like to do. I ended up taking home the Ford Focus that day and was thankful for the No Pressure sales scenario that I would have been put in some where else. The only hiccup I had was with my insurance, because my name doesn't fit on the main line (as I am umbrella'd under my parent's policy) they would not have proceeded. I was looking for a car and a friend suggested that I try Carmax. I completed the preliminary information online and a representative contacted me to verify the information I had given him. I went into their office the next day to pick may car to test drive because I had already searched it online. Discovered that it was at their Henderson office so I had to wait until the next day. In the mean time we went over how much the car I was trading in was worth, my extended warranty options, down payment, and what my payments were looking like. I returned the next day and test drove the car and fell in love from the moment I saw it. Got all of the necessary paperwork, including switching my insurance to this particular car, and references. Because I had cleaned my old car out I didn't have the registration for the car. So after 3 hours on the 2nd day I had to leave without the car until I could bring back the registration the next day. Yes man I was pissed off to the max!!!! I asked to speak with the manager but he explained the logic in it because although everything was in "my" name, there are ways that people do fraudulent things and he wasn't suggesting I was but I understood. Finally the next day as soon as I could I emailed him a copy of the registration and sent him a text to let him know as soon as he gets in to review the document and let me know if that's okay. He texted me back and told me the paperwork was fine and to come on in so I can finish up may paperwork. Got to the dealership and everything finally went smooth!!!! I made my down payment, got my keys, and was on my way with my new sweet beautiful new car. They cleaned it up really nice and filled the gas tank up. I took a picture with the bow on it and I was on my merry way. I didn't have the best experience with them but I would recommend them again and likely will return to them for any other car needs I have. 11/2019: sun city auto is a pretty reliable place! The check engine light was a simple fix and luckily was covered under my carmax warranty. I would recommend just going to sun city because scheduling and appointment times are way faster and easier to get than the carmax dealership. Luckily I haven't had any other issues with my vehicle besides having to replace the battery and also the batteries in both car FOBs. I still wish I would have just waited, built my credit up a bit more and just went to a new dealership. My husband literally got a 2019 Toyota in February with horrible credit (I co-signed) and he had a lower down payment and his monthly payments are currently lower than my payments and I have refinanced. Please read this before buying a vehicle at ANY CAR MAX. ********Pay for a inspection by another mechanic shop with no ties to CARMAX********* I bought a vehicle and I am NOT SATISFIED. The sales representative informed me all their vehicles are inspected thoroughly and in my case and many others CarMax lied about their inspections. I made the common mistake of not looking here before buying and it can eventually cost my pockets a lot of money. soooo..... I bought a vehicle and started inside the lot, I turn the heater on and there is this flickering noise coming from the heater, I go to the service and a mechanic comes to take a look at it, he says "its either the blower motor or a paper is lodged in there". I then asked him if its safe to drive, he says yes. I drive out of the lot and the right beam turns off. I return the next day and receive my first unpleasant interaction with a service representative named stephanie. It was just so tough to get my appointment and it was very difficult to highlight the issues I was having with the vehicle due to the poor customer service she provides. Anywho she finally booked me an appointment. I then take the vehicle to a 5 star reviewed mechanic shop that only fixes BMW's and they found the following issues in the vehicle I purchased; From a cracked radiator($850), oil filter housing stand gasket leak($350) eccentric shaft seal and valve cover seeping ($1100), radiator hose is old ($200) control arm bushings are cracked ($350) blower motor is bad ($380) wiper blades are ineffective ($57) the light beam went out as I drove it out of the lot ($75). CARMAX lies, I attached a inspection by a private mechanic to prove they are lying about the inspections they do on "all" their vehicles. Reallllllllly a cracked radiator??? So my appointment nears at CarMax and I receive my second unpleasant encounter with their service representative stephanie. She states that our mechanics will fix what they deem necessary to fix. Some other lady speaks to me and she was a professional, she told me they were going to take the vehicle in and do their inspection, another mechanic steps in the vehicle, I turn the heater on for him and he states "that blower motor is fine", another mechanic comes up and says "NO" there are issues with that blower motor". My point is, you cannot trust CarMax, however she DID NOT mention or inform me they were going to fix all the problems listed by a 5 STAR BMW MECHANIC SHOP. Anywho shes get me a temporary vehicle and send me on my way. One day later I receive a phone call from CarMax and receive my 3rd unpleasant encounter with Stephanie and informs me that the mechanics won't be able to fix some of the issues, I say why? she states their mechanics don't find an issue with some of them. So I go in the next day and inform them that I would like to schedule another inspection on the vehicle after they "fix" the current issues and I even informed them that I will pay two other companies to do inspections on the vehicle again after they "FIX" the current issues because CAR MAX LIED to me the FIRST time why wouldn't they do it again? To be continued............ I will keep updating this, they are allegedly "fixing" my vehicle. Please though if you buy a vehicle here. 1) Read CAR MAX Reviews!!!!!!! 2) Pay for an inspection from a private company that has no ties to CAR MAX! mine cost only $110. And I will pay for another one..... 3) KEEP a Paper Trail!!! I went in a few weeks ago to get my car appraised. The appraisal is good for a week. I was talking to Rio, he offered 6k for my G37 coupe. He told me to bring in the title should I decide to sell. I realized after that the title was in NC. It took 2 weeks to get the title so when I went back to Carmax, the price dropped another $500. They told me it is based on Blue book and also needed to call DMV to make sure if this is the newest title. They should have told me to bring the newest title. I was there at 8pm and DMV was closed so I had to wait till Monday for them to call DMV to make sure the title was the newest one. I got a call back and they said it was and I can come back to sell. Price is good that's why anyone would by here, customer service is garbage and all cars come with some kind of issue. I purchased a 2015 Srt from them, informed them the brakes are sounding weird, vibrations, weird sound at slow sleeps and my car is shooting forward. They claimed to have looked at my pads, that they're like brand new. This problem continued so I looked at them my self. As you'll see from the pics below, they obviously lied, brakes are a serious manner and I could've hit someone, ran off the road and or gotten seriously injured.
