THE WORST PLACE TO GO TO Thanks to an employee Eric at the business department. My mother and I got there at 2pm and didn't leave until 855pm that's basically closing. To end up leaving without a vehicle. I sold my car they told to come back at 330 to get all the paperwork ready. I was fine with that taking an hour 30 mins to get that done, that way I can go look at their cars. I didn't go back until 4. He gave me the paperwork let me know the value of my old car. My mother and I let him know that we wanted to sell it. He said okay no problem give him another 20-30 mins. During this time we told him I wanted to buy another car he said yeah that's fine not a big deal. I believe at this time we sold the car. Again give him a few more minutes for the payment once I signed everything I will say it's about 5 even when I'm signing and he's explaining everything I believe he got confused a few times that he said sorry long day. Once we are done e again says just the front desk know that you want to check in to look the cars. We were already frustrated that it took that long. We waited until 554pm when our got the call saying that they can helps find a car. Michelle was amazing thank you for understanding!!! We took a test drive around 715pm we got back I looked at another car because they were willing to sell a car with trash deep inside the alternator. I let Michelle I wanted to proceed with the purchase. Again she helped us out so much. By this time I will say it's 830 they start putting the blinds down. Legit at 842pm she tells us unfortunately I can't get the car due to Eric not us know that we were supposed to look first transfer all the paperwork info to the new car so it can be ready to purchase. Because of him I left at closing time, wasted my Michelle time. Most importantly my mother was with me for 8 hours who is disabled. Not handicapped accessible. Letting your employees park cars in handicap. A manager who all she said she will be writing an email. That's not going to do anything. But wait it gets worse!! My family, unfortunately, purchased a vehicle, 2019 Nissan Altima, from your dealership in Palmdale, CA. A few months after purchase the vehicle started overheating and come to find out the vehicle had two blown head gaskets. After spending over $2,500 to get that repaired, the mechanic shop informed me the catalytic converter is bad as well. My only option to purchase a catalytic converter for the car was directly from the dealership for another price tag over $2,000. I went to the Nissan Dealership in Thousand Oaks, CA where they informed me the vehicle mileage was incorrect. I purchased the vehicle in December 2023 with about 78k miles. However, the Nissan dealership informed me the vehicle in fact has over 220,000 miles. With the help of consumer lawyers, we submitted a letter based on the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA). To which CarMax responded with the offer to take the car back, pay off my loan with my financial institution, pay back payments I have made to the loan, and to pay any other expenses put towards the car. An agreement was signed and all that needed to happen was for me to get paid and afterwards for CarMax to pick the vehicle up. It is getting close to 2 months since CarMax has said they have sent the payment/checks. Initially it was said to arrive around September 25th. In time for me to pay off my loan before my next payment on October 3rd. I never received any payment via mail or my financial institution. My lawyers were finally told the checks were cut, but never left the mail room. The point of contact at CarMax informed us then the checks were being sent out and I should receive them by Friday, November 8th and another check on Monday, November 11th. As it stand today, I have not received any payment or update about this. I am making payment on a vehicle I can no longer drive and throwing money away. When I purchased the vehicle, I was told by the salesman that the vehicle was clean and had no issues. The Experian Autocheck Report also stated that the vehicle was clean and had no issues. However, the CarFax I had to purchase stated there may be potential odometer fraud and there was a minor accident to the front. As a consumer, I highly recommend switching to CarFax reports or spending the money to use both Experian and CarFax to cross reference vehicles. To close, I am extremely disappointed with the service being provided by your dealership and corporate home office on a matter that should've been resolved a long time ago. Unfortunately, with this experience, moving forward I will not be doing business nor recommend CarMax. This has caused a lot of issues and complications with regard to scheduling and family matters, due to us being down to one vehicle again. I just pray this issue gets resolved because at the moment it seems to be going nowhere. read more

So almost two years ago I was in need of a car, I went to carmax with about a 760 credit score! Excellent! I picked out a suv that was maybe 2012-2014 it was fine they quoted me $430 . Honestly after driving off the lot I wasn't really happy with it. With my credit score why am I even paying this much on a vehicle. They have a 3 day policy to return and just as I was about to return it.. I got rear ended. Not my fault dude ran into me . I took it to a mechanic to evaluate and it was a purely cosmetic fix it wasn't even dented in! It was just scratched! I took it to another mechanic who also said that there was NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE and he warned me that this particular carmax is known for being crooks and he always advises against buying from them! Welp I ended up going to Hyundai who took very good care of me! I got a brand new suv with monthly payment that is $480 just $50 more than the old worn Carmax car. I ended up voluntarily surrendering it, messed up my credit score but that could be easily repaired just like that dumb vehicle they tried to force upon me! Also beware of a man named Classic! Bought a Nissan Altima a couple months back and after the first month of having it, the floorboard was completely soaked from the rain. There was no indication of there being any way for the water to come into my car. I took it to be serviced and they said they fixed the issue, that there was debris in the engine. It damaged the floor and it still smells like mildew. They said they couldn't do anything about it. Now months later my car floor is still getting completely soaked. Then it was 8.15 which is to my calculations 60 minutes later. We had a little chat and were asked to have a seat again. I asked if it will be another 35 minutes. She said no but 20. We left. I was not in the market for another vehicle so she directed me to the right place. There they looked up my offer number and I was offered a seat to wait while they look at my vehicle. Everyone was very professional and friendly. I had tried Carvana but they required 2 months past lease end which meant I would have to renew registration and make 2 more payments. That same statement seems to apply to car dealers which has made the prospect of buying a new (or new to us) car such a nightmare. They always F you at the car dealer, which I had proven to me again today by CarMax in Palmdale. Like most folks, I don't have money to throw up in the air or light on fire, so looking for a new (to me) car requires some planning, research, and strategizing. After spending days on the Internet looking at specs, features, and pricing for slightly-used cars, I finally figured out exactly what I needed: an all-wheel drive Prius. Everybody knows about Toyota's paradigm-changing affordable hybrid commute-taming sedans, but the AWD option is not easy to find. Living in the mountains where we get some snow, it was a necessity for me, though, and I dedicated a lot of time to trying to find one. I was pleased when I found the exact vehicle I wanted in CarMax's vast stable of online cars. They claim an inventory of 50,000 cars and lo and behold, they had what I wanted... located in Denver which was nowhere near my home in California. No problem, says CarMax, order a test drive and for $249 we'll have it trucked out to your local CarMax in Palmdale, CA. The online process for shipping the car included a phone call from a CarMax rep who carefully asked me if I had any questions about the car, whereupon I asked them to confirm that it was indeed, the Unicorn Prius in the color, trim, and AWD I was looking for. Yep, I was assured by phone and email, it was AWD. "Load 'er up!" I said and soon I was receiving anticipation-building texts advising me that this rare vehicle was making its way to the local CarMax for me to try. Once the car arrived, I made plans to finance part of the purchase price through CarMax. This again involved both online and telephone confirmation that, indeed, this vehicle had all the features I needed including all-wheel drive. Every time I talked to a human at CarMax, they were very careful to ask if I had any questions and each time I asked them to confirm that the car was AWD.... And each time they did. So I arrive at the dealer to test drive what I was already thinking of as "my" car, and I loved it! It was fun to drive, the seats were comfortable, it seemed in very good condition, and fit my budget and financing. I was surprised that the grey interior, confirmed on my several calls with CarMax, was actually black but I could live with that even though I had a niggling doubt that said "They oughta' be able to verify the interior color, don't you think?" Then the clincher: I asked the sales associate to show me about the AWD feature since I saw no dash indication of drive status, and the owner's manual said nothing about it either. She went to the 'trade in guys who know everything about the cars' to find out about the AWD feature, and returned a few minutes later with "I'm so sorry to tell you but this car is not all-wheel drive." Yeah. I immediately thought of Vinnie and realized that they always F you at the dealer. Always. Not once did anyone at CarMax bother to look at the actual information on the car I paid to have shipped a thousand miles for a test drive. Not once did they do anything but look at the same online information (wrong it turns out, as to both interior color and drive type) that I could see for myself. They asked me over and over what I was concerned about, then gave me the wrong information, over and over. So, I'm out four hours of my time (I live an hour from the dealer, and spent two hours being vetted to take a test drive, driving, and then being told the car was not what I was assured it was) and about $50 in diesel for my big truck I drive (yeah, I really do need a Prius). I spent about two hours total on the phone and online in the order/confirm/finance/arrange-to-test-drive process, and I took a credit ding for an inquiry for financing I cannot use. CarMax did refund my delivery charge before I stunk up their showroom with my Joe Pesci imitation, but the entire experience was disappointing, frustrating, and a complete waste of my time simply because CarMax employees didn't bother to do more than regurgitate information I already had. I had high hopes that the CarMax experience, new to me and which seemed quite promising, would turn out to be a refreshing new low-hassle way to buy a car.. but no. She had already bought a car from there so we assume it would be an okay to do it again. BUT her 1st car she bought from there was bad it had an oil leak. We test drove the car and we looked at the engine and it had trash from an animal that was living there. We brought it up to Michelle and we were going to test drive the other car but we decide to look at the engine to see if it had rats or birds in there because of the other car but we heard a weird noise coming from it and right away we said no to it. When the manager was there she saw the car alternator with animal trash took a video or pic and we told her the other car had issues. She asked to let her know what was the noise so she can have it check. I told her NO it is not our job to tell you whats wrong with it, it is for you guys to see what's wrong with it. I am disabled being there about 7 hours was the worst, we were told we can buy the car that had animal trash and we were going to do that. the manager told us we got 10 days to drive take it to a mechanic and drive and bring it back if we had issues. We were going to do that. We sat down to do the process with Michelle but we were told after 7 hours we could not because eric closed the account and should had not done that. We asked michelle to call the manager, we spoke to her we told the experience we had and it was bad, real bad. She told us she would gives us the car back. sell it back to us. WHY? i left crying due to the pain. Now they keep calling and teting my daughter even offer her 2 gift cars if she purchase the car. Again I am disabled, again a little over 7 hours of pain not once they care it was about makng a sale. Took my brother who was coming home from the military to look at a car. Literally every car (5) he was interested in was "on hold" for someone at a later date. Or someone had an "appointment to see it." He has cash to buy the car outright.. idk...valuing an internet appointment who may or may not show up, over a customer with cash who is currently there standing in your face is a little ass backwards to me. I purchased a 2013 Subaru BRZ from here on November 8th at 9PM. By November 9th at 3PM, not even 24 hours later, there was a leak of an unknown fluid and smoke coming from the engine, not to mention there was no coolant, but oh, this CarMax "guarantees" that they do a full inspection of the vehicle and fill up all the fluids, that was obviously wrong.
