I went to carmax to purchase the vehicle after spending all day in the finance department. I was finally approved the next day. I came and got my keys. They told me couldn't graduations. I left off the knot without the knowledge that they could confiscate the car back within 30 days. If the loan wasn't approved, I never would have took the deal if I would have known, they were able to take my car in 30 days. However, I needed the car serviced. No one never notified me that the loan was denied. They tricked me into coming in on a earlier date to get my car service. Only to cough escape my car. And make me feel humiliated because the whole company knew what was about to occur. Except for me, they were very unprofessional. Very unpleasant from the beginning. We had such a great experience at Carmax. They gave us a fair price on our trade in and we got the car we needed at a fair price as well. Lamont, Elizabeth, Ariel, and Frank were so helpful, courteous - total pros. Normally when you buy a car from a dealer they add in all those extra charges - underbody coating, anti theft device, extended warranty, dealer accessory package. It seems every time you turn around they're slipping in extra charges in the sales contract. They really suck the joy out of buying a new car. Not CarMax. It was a great experience from beginning to end. No hidden charges, everything was explained up front. We were able to enjoy the whole thing. read more

I sold my car to the Palmdale CarMax last weekend. Overall, it was a very positive experience. Edwin helped me with the sale and also showed me a few cars I was interested in. He was top-notch. Liz assembled my closing paperwork. At that point in the day, my chronic illness was flaring, which made things interesting for Liz. She was understanding, didn't ask intrusive questions, and was very accommodating. She was fantastic. ...Everyone there was really nice and professional except for the random employee who told me it looked like I was stealing their masks, which I wasn't. Fortunately, I didn't have to work with that guy. I lower my review by half a star for his comment, but I'll still round up to 5 stars because CarMax Palmdale seems like a fantastic business. Oh my God Carmax is the best! For somebody else, let me share my story. I went to Carmax a week ago and reserved a Kia optima and a Kia K5 when I got there they told me that the K5 was not reserved after they sent me a text message stating that it was, and as I sat down with the sales person, he talked me into driving a Honda which I didn't want to do. when I got back from the test drive, I told him what I didn't like about the car, and he continued to talk me out of a test driving the Kia optima, which I really wanted to drive. So at that point I left, a week later I came back. Looking for a Hyundai. When I found it, I went to the sales person and told her that I wanted to reserve it for tomorrow to test drive. She sent me a text message saying that it was reserved for me at 3 o'clock. I had called the next day to make sure that I still had an appointment at 3 o'clock and they told me that the car shipped to a different place at that point I was like why would you reserve a car for me and then ship it somewhere else.and the topper is they weren't even going to tell me that it shipped they wanted me to show up there so they could sell me on another car I didn't want. I have no idea how Carmax does business because they are so disorganized. They don't care about the customer. They care about how much money they can make off of you remember that!!! read more

Christian was very nice and was not pushy or rude at all. He was well spoken, friendly, and overall a really great sales rep. Got a pretty decent offer on my car which was nice, considering another dealer I went to first offered me a lot less for my car. I am writing this on behalf of my grandmother who brought in her Dodge Journey traded it in for a 2020 Dodge Ram about three months ago and has only had it in her possession for 2 weeks of that time. The fact that she has continued to make payments from a retailer who knowingly sold a LEMON while they drag their feet and lie about the "progress" they're making on fixing my grandmother's truck, it would be different if they kept it consistently for this timeline however, they have given it back to my grandmother bandaided and not fixed correctly, this is probably the fourth or fifth time it has been brought back to them and they sit on their but "trying to fix it" but have not offered to compensate for anything or shown any remorse, all while she continues to make payments for a car that she DOES NOT have in her possession. It really saddens me that I am forced to write this review, but I just don't feel right not saying anything, when I could possibly keep someone from going through what I have been and am still going through. First of all, my saleswoman Astrid was funny, informative and pleasure to work with, so this 1 Star review is no way intended for her. My specific complaint is about Suzanne Dietrich in the business office. I received a ticket on my car after trading it in two months ago, even though I was told that if my car were even transferred to another location before being sold, it would have been done so on a trailer. Suzanne assured me that she would get to the bottom of the problem, and at the very least would follow up with me. The weird thing is that the ticket was received at 10:30 at night on the Fourth of July, two counties south from where I traded it in. This is a National Holiday, so I doubt that they were transporting my car on a trailer to another location at that time. A car can only be ticketed when it is being driven. It sounds like to me that one of their employees was giving it a joyride. This is extremely unprofessional and highly illegal. After never receiving an email or a phone call after 2 days, I called the Toll Roads company that ticketed me to be told that they were never contacted by Suzanne Dietrich or anyone at Carmax. I called Carmax back to follow up with Suzanne and this is when she told me she was having a hard time dealing with this issue. She also seemed to shake off any responsibility as to how this even happened. I grew angry, and I told them that I thought I should contact a lawyer. At this point, they told me since I mentioned the word "lawyer" that they could no longer speak to me. Every time I called, Suzanne's assistant would deflect me by telling me she was "out" or "getting water." Another representative at Carmax told me that I should just go to the DMV. Just go to the DMV? And spend four hours of my day doing their job? Further, upon signing for my car, I paid the $$ to ensure that all of the title transfers would go through at the DMV. When I spoke to the company who ticketed me, they said that all the Carmax had to do is email them a copy of my release of liability, which I have been begging Suzanne to do, but for some reason she just will not follow through. After a few hours I finally received an email from Suzanne claiming that they have received a copy of the ticket and that they were going to pay it for me and further, send a release of liability. Upon calling the Toll Roads company the next day, they claimed that they had not received so much as a phone call or even an email from Suzanne or anyone at Carmax. It has been 4 days since I have brought this to her attention. Be wary of people eager to take your money but who are unenthused to follow through. I am not saying to stay away from Carmax, but just be careful in any transaction such as this. Don take anyone's word and remember to ALWAYS FOLLOW THROUGH! Their mistake could cost you your next loan or decent interest rate. Update: It has now been 6 days since I have made Suzanne Dietrich aware of this problem. Even after claiming that Carmax has handled my violation, upon calling the Toll Evasion everyday - they have still confirmed that Carmax has not called once or sent any proof of release of liability. read more

Carmax was fast and cane back with a $13,500 offer on my vehicle!!!!!! Best place to sell your vehicle. They are straight to the point and honest. First and foremost our salesman Jesus was a gentleman, intelligent, courteous, genuine and a down right GREAT man but as you can tell by the one star this isn't about him. Helen and Priscilla in the business office are both rude and unprofessional. After financing was denied due to my license being expired(which is understandable) the problem started. I left the lot without retrieving my down payment and when I returned the following day the lies began. I called in right after I left to let them know I would return the following day and they said that wouldn't be an issue and that cash would be available. I called in as I was on my way to get my cash and was told cash wasn't available, the salesman would have to cancel my order when he was available, and once a check was issued it would take 7 days for the funds to be available(all untrue). As I sat there patiently waiting I could over hear the whispers about my situation as if my credit score isn't in the 700's and like wanting my measly $1100 back was an issue. My advice to the Managers at this location is to fire both Helen and Priscilla while replacing them with people who can properly show empathy. read more

I give the 5 star solely on Excellent customer service by Helen and woody on completely separate occasions. Going to Carmax takes the stress out of car shopping because the associates don't pressure you into purchasing a vehicle. Both Helen and Woody encouraged us to keep looking and not rush or get into something we were not comfortable with. The only thing I would suggest is to let the consumer know whenever you bring a car back your credit will be ran every time you choose another vehicle. I would recommend everyone who's looking into the vehicle of their choice to give a thorough inspection. I had to bring back a few because of extreme safety issues. My husband, our two year old toddler and I went in to view car options and consider buying one. We spend over five hours at this facility. Ok my wife kept bugging me to get a reliable vehicle and insisted that I go to Carmax .So we headed to Carmax, what I had in mind was a 4 door sedan or a Midsize SUV after about 30 minutes or so looking at Chevy Impalas, Toyota Avalon the Buick lacrosse I stumbled across a nice looking SUV. It was a Kia Sorento, I had read up on the Kia's a while back. Took the Kia for a test drive and was happy about it. But I don't settle on anything the first day I like to sleep on it but the wifey was being pushy about me making the purchase and so did Diana the salesperson. Diana was really nice and professional so guess what, I made the decision to purchase the Kia Sorento. 1 Year ago today I purchased a late model used car from them. From my salesperson to the manager to finance everyone was friendly and truly helpful. It was a unique situation and they made the process SO smooth. The car runs great, and purchasing the MaxCare was probably the best decision ever. I've put about 30k miles on it, commuter car and in the last 3k miles of the warranty I more than got my money's worth. Opted to use the dealer and for $150 everything was fixed, saved me a few thousand dollars. This is now the third vehicle from Carmax over the last 10 years and the first experience in Palmdale. Okay so first off I dropped my car off to get a detail since I purchased a car from carmax my appt was at 8 am and they said it would take 35 to 1 hour so I'm waiting and I call at 11 something they couldn't find out what was going on for a little while then claimed it was in the back being cleaned .I waited more then called at 330pm and they said someone had called but nobody did. Then I come in and they couldn't find my keys for awhile. Then to top it off the car was cleaned horribly it looks like someone put 25% effort into cleaning it. Great experience with buying a car. Alex was great and I would highly recommend seeing him when you're ready to buy. Love the no pressure approach and I enjoyed dealing with the same person from beginning to end. No creepy, pushy sales manager or slimy finance guy to try to weasel a higher payment out of you. In and out within an hour and that was with two test drives! The only reason it isn't 5 stars is due to the car having a faulty drain plug in the oil pan. My car sales man was great. But they sold me a car that hadn't even had the windshield wipers replaced or checked. While driving my new care home...... I tried to use them and a huge loud scraping noise occurred. I immediately called and let them know. Made an appnt and showed up. By that time I had found multiple issues with the car. The rotter or brakes are grinding when you go down hill. I was basically told by the technician that nothings wrong. But really I hear it daily! They probably just want to avoid fixing things while in their 30 day "we will fix it" period. Let's continue. When I brought the car in my key was "misplaced" they blamed me. I had to come back and bring my other key so they could work on my windshield wipers. My brand new care also was asking for a oil change when I just bought it! Well long story short after a few back and fourths the manager agrees to get me a new key. It's been about 7 weeks now. They haven't called or updated me on my key. Nor have they made the appnt for the manager to test drive my car so we could figure out what the grinding noise is (as he promised) They really really dropped the ball on me. My supposed to be new car now only has one key. No spare, and soon enough I'll be responsible for whatever they didn't fix on my brakes!!! So not worth coming to CarMax read more
