I am giving Green Flash 2 stars based on a severely rushed recent inspection and the poor quality…read moreof their past repair work. Recently, I had them come out because I suspected termites in one of our rafter tails. To their credit, they correctly identified that specific spot as just fungus and didn't try to oversell me on treatments I didn't need. However, their inspection was incredibly brief. They spent only a few minutes scanning the house, didn't check the attic at all, and gave us the all-clear. A couple of days later, I had a second company come out for another look. They spent almost an hour doing a thorough inspection and found a severe termite infestation in a different rafter tail that was almost entirely hollowed out. They spotted the signs right through the paint. Green Flash completely missed this. On top of the missed inspection, the wood rot repairs Green Flash did for us 5 years ago (costing about $1,200) have both failed and need to be redone. They spliced a rafter tail that is now loose, and it turns out they miscut a replacement barge board on the back of the house. To cover up the bad cut, they glued a scrap piece of wood over it, which has since detached and is currently hanging off the board. Bottom line: They failed to do a thorough termite inspection, and their carpentry work doesn't hold up. I highly recommend getting a second opinion on their inspections and hiring a dedicated specialist for any actual wood repairs.

I/we don't appreciate the unsolicited calls and pressure to change a review; I don't think I would pursue this company in the future.

Source Peat Control immediately responded and had a technician come out the very next day. Awesome! They put down traps. It makes me sad to write this review because I had no issues with Homeshield until a few months…read moreago. I have been a customer of Homeshield for years and have had various services - wood rot treatment, monthly pest and rodent service, rodent exclusion treatment. My parents also have Homeshield service their home because of my referral. I want to make it clear that the technicians who service my house continue to be great. My usual technician is Julio and he's always super friendly, on time, and does a great job. My issues in the last few months pertain only to the call center and billing. In April I was charged for my monthly service even though no technician came out to service my house. I called Homeshield to let them know and they indicated I would not be charged for June. When June came, I was still charged for June so I had to call back to ask once again for money back. The call center indicated that I called too late before they processed the payment so the charge would fall off my July billing. At the beginning of July I called Homeshield to schedule my monthly treatment because I was going to be out of town. I informed the call center that I was going to be out of town and that was the reason for me scheduling my monthly service. The call center was able to get my monthly pest service schedule before I left, the call center did not indicate that I had a separate rodent treatment schedule for July 24. I left the country and while on my trip I got a text that my house would be serviced on July 24. I was pretty confused because I thought I had my house serviced and I even told the call center I would be out of town. Due to the 9 hour time difference I had to tell my brother to call Homeshield to cancel the appointment. On July 22, my brother informed me that he canceled my appointment and notified Homeshield that I would call to reschedule. On July 24, I got a text from the technician that he was about 30 minutes from my house to perform the service. I had to respond via text that I had cancelled my appointment and apologize that the call center did not inform him that I had cancelled. I am not too sure what is causing the breakdown in communication but I honestly feel terrible for these technicians not being informed of things. It also doesn't sit right with me that I have to apologize to the technician not for anything I did, but for the breakdown in communication caused directly by the call center. I also am not sure what is happening with the scheduling since before the no show incident in April I had technicians service my house every single month without issue. Update: Bryana from Homeshield called me on August 5 to learn more about the breakdown in billing, communication, and scheduling. She was really friendly, professional, and apologetic. I felt like she was not calling simply for me to fix my review but actually listened and wanted to make sure that as a customer I felt that things were remedied. She thoroughly explained my services and what Homeshield was going to do to help make everything right. She also informed me that she was going to reach out to my dad to make sure his experience as a customer was great. Overall, I am really happy with how Homeshield handled remedying the situation to ensure that I continued to receive better services in regards to billing and scheduling.

Just found out today that I have been continuing to be charged for services that are not rendered…read more We're in the middle of a huge landscape upgrade and didn't need any service for past couple of months. I had mentioned to Darla to skip service because of this, and will resume when ready. But just noticed that I have been continued to be auto charged ($87 each time) good thing I looked as I was getting ripped off. Very surprised of this as I'd mentioned this for multiple months to get ahead of this situation and give HomeShield as much communication as possible. It is crappy feeling to have my money taken like that I called in and spoke with Luca and he was helpful in telling me that I'll get credited back for 2 months, and will have CC on hold so not charged. That made me feel good. He said I'd get confirmation email in a few minutes but it's been nearly 2 hours and no email and my CC still showing no credit/refund. They are happy to auto charge me, but cannot accommodate their current customers with the ability to pause service, causing additional headache for me I'll see if there is anything worth updating if/when it happens. otherwise will go straight to credit card company and dispute charges...I don't have time to keep going back to HomeShield to check if they did their work right Still considering if I will continue with HomeShield once I need service again; but I figure I'll have better choice when that time comes UPDATE: after reading other review of not being able to cancel service, I called right back and spoke with Patricia. I asked to cancel service, but she could not do so and had to transfer me to other department and ask me to hold for "2 minutes". After 2 minutes, she came back on saying no one could talk to me to cancel. Seriously?? I asked if I can get her my verbal authorization to relay my cancel message to someone. No can do, so I have to wait for someone to call me back so I can say "CANCEL" really frustrated now...

They don't get credited, just a date that the next service will be done, and that's only if they call and say that they haven't seen a technician recently. The service schedule is on a monthly rotation, and already paid for. The value to using this service is low. I recommend Aptive as a reliable and accountable pest control service. They text when they are on their way and when they have finished, and tell you when you will see them next.

Soooo much better than the large companies - we tried two different large companies before this that were terrible, they would do a decent job on initial visit then on next scheduled visit would be on the property for less than 5 minutes and say they didn't have supplies they needed and would come back - then never did. Had to threaten a lawsuit to get out of contract because the other place did such a bad job and didn't take care of the issues we were paying them for. Verde on the other hand took care of all rodent and insect issues, and the regular maintenance visits are thorough, they are always prepared, and we've never had any insect or rodent issues since.

The products they use to deter pests are not only superior and effective, but they are environmentally friendly - safe around your little ones and furry friends. I am always given clear instructions to allow the spray to dry up before letting pets and kids roam (usually about 20 minutes or so). I've used their services for about a year and would recommend them over all others. They have been responsive during times of increased pest activity and their routine services are timely and effective (for my needs where I stay, I typically have them come by quarterly during the cold months and monthly when it's warmer). Finally, the smile that you see in the photos from the owner is actually a perfect reflection of how Ray and his team interact with their customers. They're pleasant, professional, kind, courteous and a pleasure to do business with.

Over the years, I've had other handymen pass on the project. I had a handyman who was able to fill the rotted areas with wood filler, sand it, and restain it. I've even had a gate company tell me that they could not save the gate; it would need to be completely replaced. Bill was able to cut out the rotted pieces of wood, replace them, and restain the whole gate (he also repainted the decorative hardware on the door as well). Moreover, he discussed the project with a buddy of his and they determined that the gate was sitting over a muddy part of landscaping which is probably what facilitated the deterioration of the wood. We found some leftover pavers in our storage shed and Bill extended the pavers so the gate would sit over pavers instead of mud. Before he embarked on the wood gate repair, Bill also installed a valance/shade over a window. He made the necessary calculations to ensure that the valance/shade would be centered on the wall and window. He also made sure that the valence was leveled. Bill is honest, meticulous and detail-oriented. If you want someone to treat your project and your home, like it's his own, I would give Bill a call.

That…read moresaid, accidents happen, like maybe you're fooling around near the side of your house and you gently tap the "inspector's test valve" for your sprinkler system. Suddenly all heck breaks loose and you've now got several walls full of water. After realizing exactly what I had done (the fire alarm helped me understand), I called around all the big name companies that do this sort of water damage repair. The quotes I got were ridiculously HIGH. I decided to go local and gave Moe and his team (read: family) a call. Not only could they fit me into their schedule quickly, but they are also a one stop shop, meaning, when they leave your house, it looks just like it did before you broke your sprinkler pipe. Most of those big name companies require you to get someone else to do the drywall/painting part. All the Mold Safe guys that worked on the job were not only related to each other, they were also great workers and great people. They kept everything clean and showed up when they said they would. They kept me in the loop as to what was being done and explained anything I asked questions about. They dried the walls, cut out and replaced the wet drywall and added the matching orange peel texture when they did the final painting. Color matched, perfect finish. And when Ted was finished fixing the hole in the stucco left by the sprinkler system guy (yeah, it has to be a certified professional who fixes anything to do with your sprinkler system, not just any plumber), he went around my house with the left over spackle and fixed several other stucco dings in my house. Above and beyond. Like I said at the beginning, you really don't want to ever have to call these guys, but if you do find yourself in this sort of a situation, don't risk the mold, just call Moe. There's a reason they have dozens and dozens of 5 star reviews here. Highly recommended.

My clients hired Carmel Valley Pest Control after they inspected a property we had listed for sale. Though their Section 1 repairs were substantially higher than a competitors bid $3,100 vs. $1,800), we paid the extra money to hire them at the firm request of the buyer and buying agent. As they began remediating the work, they discovered areas that were apparently not caught in the initial inspection - and subsequently charged us another $300. We signed disclosures suggesting this may happen, so we moved past that. Though then the next day, the same employee of CMVP then pointed out apparent roofing work that also needed repair in order to give Section 1 clearance. This was an additional $300 - $300 more than the other $300. My client went to see the roofing work needed in person, though the worker stated that he'd already fixed much of it - so the evidence was gone. Of course. Realizing we had few options left that point, we asked him to proceed with the remediation work. He said he would, though he would not give Section 1 clearance because of the needed roof work. So, he suggested a roofing professional that can take care of it...at a cost of course. Now here we are, closing delayed by almost a week, with two $300 charges and a new roofing repair bill. Work is still not completed. In the meantime, all parties involved are waiting for closing because of the oversights of CVPC. In an industry with relatively subjective results - trust and transparency are key. Carmel Valley Pest Control gave us different answers, took unnecessary time, and we feel ultimately cost my clients thousands of dollars. As a RE professional, I have worked with many, many other pest control companies and I know what good service is. CVPC certainly did not offer it, and I will not work with them again for that reason. read more

I am a former Real Estate agent & business owner with an eye for performance & detail. I found this company delivered my requirements in all facets. Property inspection was simple & concise performed by Wayne. Crew arrived on time & my comfort zone was in tact knowing Wayne worked & directed his crew in detail to perform all repairs. My home has been host to many termites thru its years of life since 1976. This was my first endeavor at termite restoration on my personal property. A visual report with a schematic noting each area in need of repair made my comprehension to follow work with ease. Total professionalism from the entire crew. Everyone hard at work. No loitering with cell phones. This is not only respect for myself but for the owners of the company. After repairs performed we walked the property to confirm all aspects of work order were performed. Entire job was complete. I was told if I found something amiss to call Sophia at the office & someone would return to make repair pertinent to our contract. John I believe he was the lead in charge next in line after Wayne. An amazing person with excellent ethics. Polite & thorough following schematic repairs. Follow thru came today. I was told by Wayne he had an extra can of paint that was used on the job & that it would be dropped off at my house. Today Devon part of the amazing crew stopped by the house with that extra can of paint. Also in Devon's corner was the fact that the crew had already swept the grounds but Devon found the area on my patio roof that had not been cleaned sufficiently so he took charge to get that done only to have to sweep the grounds again. I called Carmel Valley Pest Control for short-notice pest inspection required for a home refinance. Very professional reception and scheduling process. They were able to be on-site the next day and their prices were 15% cheaper than other companies I checked with. The inspector, Wayne, arrived exactly on time and was extremely courteous and professional (he even removed his shoes when doing the interior inspection without my asking). The inspection was complete with one small finding of minor wood rot that could have delayed our refinance action. Wayne was able to repair the wood rot on the spot for a very nominal price (even painted it - it's perfect). Bottom line, this company is top notch...period. They don't play games with price gouging , etc and really helped me out in a pinch. They are ethical and professional. Now I know exactly why our realtor friends recommend them. Btw, be sure you check that your pest inspector is able to do any necessary repairs. Wayne had everything needed - other companies don't do repairs which would have been a big hassle to have to hire another crew to do the work. Lastly, Wayne gave me expert advice on what to look for in the future for signs of pests/termites and absolutely did not try to up-sell me on some ridiculous package. I'm sticking with this company. From the office staff, Sophia and Melany, to John and his team, who performed the repair work, I appreciate the level of professionalism and quality workmanship. I arrived at the property to meet an appliance repairman and happened upon John and team just finishing up the work to repair the eves and fascia. To my surprise they had also primed and were nearly finished carefully painting all the new wood, something I had not expected but was beyond happy to see. They even worked around the plants without damaging them or dripping paint on them. They did an excellent job, and cleaned up carefully. After letting his team go home, John graciously waited until I finished with my other appointment so that he could show me the completed work. He wanted everything to be right and structurally sound and took extra measures to ensure that, replacing and painting some sections of wood that had not even listed on the scope of work, and giving an old door a fresh coat of pain, just because. I can only think this comes from his personal ethics and that of the company's. Would definitely recommend. read more

I was very happy with the customer service that I received from Sophie when trying to schedule a consultation for rodent extermination. She was very accommodating with helping me get an appointment the very next day. I felt that she was very sensitive to the situation because it is kind of embarrassing calling someone out because you have a rat living in your house. Joe was there at 8am sharp! He took a look around the exterior of my house and gave me some great feedback. Honestly, what really stood out to me was the fact that he took his shoes off when entering my house. I have two small children that crawl all over the place and he made it a point to remove his shoes..so considerate! My kids were both sleeping at the time and he also made a point to work as quietly as possible. Any mom can appreciate that! Martine and team are very professional and do their best at making all parties involved happy. I own a rental property and needed an insect problem resolved. They were prompt and pleasant to communicate with. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and Martine was very patient and clear with responding to my concerns. They did an excellent job with very thorough chemical treating procedures to prevent the issue from reoccurring. Eddie, the carpenter of their team installed custom eave vents to prevent other future issues. Eddie is a true craftsman with attention to detail. Before installing the vents, he did an additional step to chemically treat the eave vent holes prior to installing his beautiful custom eave vents which matched the white paint of the eaves and cleanly caulked all cracks in the joinery. Receiving a wonderful finished built project product on top of being insect-free is like a bow on top of a present. read more

I used CVPC for termite issues a few years ago. They did an amazing job repairing termite and dry rot damage. When I recently found more dry rot and some termite damage I gave them a call. Zach came out and gave me a very reasonable bid. Today, Eddie and his crew showed up as scheduled and on time. They immediately got to work. They repaired and replaced several wood beams on my pergola, they treated and repaired a location that termites had once had for lunch. Eddie did an amazing job repairing a window sill that contained some rot and fungus. The crew painted the areas that wood was repaired or replaced. The team protected the house and nearby surfaced. They cleaned up all debris and sawdust, and left my property better than they found it. I am very happy with the work that Eddie and his team did. My husband and I manage a few rental properties and were in need of a good termite Company. A friend referred us to Carmel Valley Pest Control so we decided to give them a try and we were not disappointed! Not only do they provide termite services but they also provide services to do any required repairs. We have used them on a few of our projects now and never any complaints. When Wayne and his team arrived they were on time, friendly, honest, professional, hard working, and didn't waste any time. Not only did they exterminate the termites but they repaired and replaced damaged areas to our sub floors and patio cover and there were no hidden costs. This review is long overdue as we had our roof replaced and house tented for termites July 2020 but I want to give kudos when they are deserved. The Carmel Valley Pest Control team were professional and patient from beginning to end. We had multiple delays in the the roofing schedule which also delayed the termite fumigation and they were flexible throughout. The standout service was with how they partnered with our tenants to answer questions and reassure them. They carefully walked our tenants through how to prepare for the tenting and how long they needed to be out of the house and showed them what needed to be sealed up. The entire project was complicated for us but Carmel Valley was always part of the solution and made things better along the way. I also appreciated the high quality work and fair price. read more

About 2 weeks ago I've encountered a rat infestation in my outdoor patio as well as inside my home. Carmel Valley Pest Control was recommended to me by a friend. I called the company on Thursday, October 12, and was referred directly to Ray, the technician. Following a brief conversation, Ray adjusted his schedule to survey my property that same day and provide an assessment of the situation. He began treatment that Thursday with a distribution of bait-boxes and traps and was successful in capturing several rats in my property. Ray provided and continues to provide outstanding service by checking my property as needed and removing any dead rats. I would highly recommend Ray for any pest issues you might have , and I'm certain you'll be pleased with his friendly demeanor and knowledge of the issue as I am. read more

We had an awesome experience with Carmel Valley Pest Control! They communicated with us throughout the process and were quick to respond to any questions. Everything from the beginning of the process to the end went smoothly without any issues. This was our first time tenting and what we thought was going to be a very stressful process ended up not being so bad thanks to CVPC. The workers showed up on time and were very helpful when assuring that we had bagged up our items correctly. I would highly recommend this company for any of your critter needs. Their customer service is outstanding and they even gave us a credit for a mistake that we made with the paperwork. I'm in the process of moving to Tennessee and during inspection it was discovered we had some wood rot and termite damage. Carmel Valley Pest Control came out and did an exemplary job. The supervisor of our job was Wayne Layton. He walked us through the entire process. After the preliminary inspection, he called us to let us know when the crew would arrive and how the repairs would be done. His crew worked quietly and effectively throughout the repairs. He did a paint match at a home hardware store in order to bring our patio cover back to original. More importantly for me, the work area had been swept clean of any evidence that there had be any work ever done. I have three companies give me a bid for termite tenting. This company not only could do the tenting but also able to do any repairs that were needed due to termite damage. I was impressed because the person who gave us the bid did a thorough inspection and also especially because he wore a mask (Not all companies did this). The people who did the repair work also wore masks and were super friendly, explaining exactly what needed to be replaced. They replaced a 8 foot tall beam on the same day basis and did a terrific job. The company provided me with multiple pages of directions about preparing my pantry and cupboards, provided special bags for food, very good customer education. I have used this fabulous company for the last 15 years. They took care of our La Jolla home and after selling the property on the ocean they did the termite extermination. When we moved to Cardiff by the Sea, we continued with them, but used them for something completely different. I loved the birds and had birdfeeders, but had no idea it fed rats! I freaked out and Ray, came and over a few weeks, all the nasty creatures were gone. Now, we have them come for intermittent care and the last visit was from Wayne, who was amazing. They are all so very professional and do the job well. I would trust them with a key to my house, and a guardian for my children! ha Truly, I cannot rave enough about this pest control company!! read more

First I would like to say I've professionally worked with Zack for over 15yrs as a realtor for all my home inspections. He is the kindest, reliable, honest almost professional person in the industry. I trust him and the company and would never use anyone else for termite inspections and treatment. I just recently contacted him for my personal home. I honestly don't have the time (and I hate) writing reviews but I feel obligated to do so in this instance. I had my renters use ant hotels for about 3 weeks but the ants kept coming and coming. The improvement seemed marginal. The renters were out of wits ends when they notified me by phone that I needed to use "bigger guns" so to speak. I was pretty worried (and a little skeptical) when I called Carmel Valley Pest Control but they had good reviews. This year has been the worst ant invasion in the last 10 years. Ray was able to fit me in his busy schedule on short notice. Ray also did the job around mid July. Renters haven't seen one ant since! Thanks Ray for doing a great job. read more

Carmel Valley Pest Control customer service was great! I recently had my house tented and had the termite damaged wood replaced. They answered all my questions starting with Zack the inspector to Sophia in the office and finally Wayne the contractor. Their contractor Wayne and his team are exceptional and it was a pleasure to work with them. They are very professional, accommodating and did an AMAZING job. They arrive on time did the job efficiently and even matched my existing paint. After the initial work was done I discovered more hidden damage during my re roofing, called Wayne and he helped me out by sending his team the next day to take care of the problem so the roofer wasn't delayed. read more

We had an AMAZING experience with Carmel Valley Pest control! We HIGHLY recommend them to anyone needing pest control services or repairs for termite damage. Particularly Sergio, Freddie, Eduardo, & Edgar (Kiki). These guys went above and beyond. Danny and his crew did a great job tenting our house. We had a few problem areas that we explained to them and they were very careful not to damage a very old patio roof. They were very professional! We were very pleased with our whole experience with CVPC- Zach, who came out to review the job last month, to Beth and Vanessa at the front office. They also did some work on dry rot issues around the outside of our house. They sent a crew that arrived on time and worked all day. It was billed as a one-day job, but they sent two people out the next day at no extra charge to finish the job. I think it was Josh and his crew. They were all great. When I called Carmel Valley Pest Control, Ray was able to come out to the house that morning. He did a thorough check of the house and found that we had a large dead animal under the house in the crawl space. It isn't a job that his business handles but he had the perfect person to refer us to and he called the guy first for us to explain the situation. I'm really impressed with the professionalism that Ray showed and the fact that he didn't just leave us to deal with the problem when he realized that it's not something he handles. He even followed up later that day to see if everything worked out. I will use Carmel Valley Pest Control again and I highly recommend them. read more

Due to this and many other positive Vester related reasons I signed up in April This year. Ryan set me up with Peter for the actual inspection and he was great! The inspection was in fact complimentary and he took the time to answer questions and offer tips to minimize ways pests could invade my home (seriously those tips are ways we would pay them less). With Peter and Ryan I feel taken care of heard and not just a number/unit on a spreadsheet. I think I'm going to use the report services mentioned in some of these other reviews as I know (thanks to Peter) that all pest activity skyrockets during the summer. When Nathan reached out with pest daddy I was happy to get him back on board to treat my house. Nathan was here through some weird times, we had horrendous bites from the carpets upstairs and the previous owners I guess leaving something behind and I ended up getting an infection from the bites. Nathan had been over a lot to continue to treat the carpet and knows the history of the bugs in this place. Today when he showed up I was in a meeting and hadn't unlocked my door yet and he waited until I got out of the meeting to finish the treatment! It was much appreciated. QUICK BIO Since 2005, Bite Away Termite & Pest Control has been a local trusted pest control company that serviced the San Diego market. Paired with their sister company, The Real Estate Inspection Company, these two offered a one-two punch in both commercial and residential inspections in the event of buying, selling, or simply to detect any issues. Each qualified technician has been trained and certified, took their time and tried their best to inspect every possible area for any signs of activity, and then produced a detailed report of findings and recommendations.
