For the sides, we had lentils, white rice, salad, potato salad.. I offered one fried fish combo meal and two sides of chicken (jerk chicken and fried chicken - protein only). The restaurant is a tiny hole in the wall but the cashier was friendly and it seems like a nice neighborhood place. They have three combos on UberEats; Chicken for $10, Beef for $10, and Fish Combo for $12; mind you, they don't have a beef option. Weird! The Entree choices are Fried Chicken, Tennessee Fried Chicken, Jerk Chicken, Baked Chicken, and Fried Fish. I chose Baked Chicken, and it was not even seasoned, cooked well with no taste. The fish combo is not mentioned that the fish is deep fried. I would've gotten something healthier like salmon instead. Also, for the three sides, rice counts as a side as I thought you get a base separately. The menu prices include tax already so the number of what you see is what you get. Finally, as a previous reviewer mentioned, the lids do not fit the bowl shape. Unless one is eating in, any to go orders need to be carried carefully otherwise a spill can occur. They don't have signage for the food, so you have to keep asking what each dish is. That's the only annoying part! Otherwise, the food looked great! I am so glad that Carmen's kitchen opened up! The humble location has amazing food. They get a super long line for lunch time so plan accordingly or order ahead with meal pal. I usually get their barbeque chicken (so delicious) with sweet potato, mac and cheese and string beans. Very affordable as well, can be compared to the cost getting chipotle. Closing DoorDash is fine, but it's awful customer service to cancel orders that have been waiting. I will not be ordering from here or eating here again. I don't know who Carmen is, but someone needs to give them an award. I have come here several times for MealPal for the chicken and potato salad and collard greens with rice and it is literally one of the best lunches I have had in the city. The potato salad and collard greens are good--nothing special, but the chicken is to die for--literally falls right off the bone and has tremendous flavor. And the rice--wow, not sure if I have ever had rice so flavorful in a long time. Overall, this place is a solid lunch option in the area and definitely worth the trek.
