On a beautiful sunny Father's Day, I wandered into here with the family on the whims of my wife, who loves the little trinkets that they have at old-fashioned hardware stores. And this one has them in spades. We did end up buying a few things. I found one of those tennis-racket-like bug zappers for about $16. My wife bought a new egg timer since the electronic timer on our stove no longer makes noise. My daughter bought a cool wooden pen with an owl carved in it, swearing she would do her homework willingly and energetically with it this fall. My son picked out a battery-powered hand-held fan that also sprays mist. And we also bought a bottle opener since ours at home is broken. So, net/net, for about $30, I'm getting: * Bugs zapped * Food no longer burned * Daughter's homework done * Cooled off on hot days this summer * Beers opened Best. Store. Ever. read more

My family and I visited this store recently to purchase a specific item. Shortly after entering, the woman who appeared to be the owner began following us closely around the store. She then told us that we were only allowed to purchase the one item we were looking at and that we needed to leave afterward. We were the only Asian customers in the store at the time, and no other customers were treated this way. We left feeling singled out and unwelcome. Regardless of intent, this is not how any customer should be treated, and I won't be returning. read more

Stopped by here while touring Western Washington to pick up a part I needed. Within a second they new what I needed and were able to help me out. Totally friendly, totally helpful, totally charming place that is full of stuff you would expect from a small town hardware store. I could have easily stopped by one of the big box stores and muddled my way around and maybe saved 10 cents, but wasted an hour. I'm really glad I chose these guys, and am really sad I don't live nearby to get the service they gave me on my vacation. Not really a place for "hands on" toddlers though, even though they have a ton of cool toys. read more

Store has hardware basics as well as a large selection of home decor items. The home decor items are unique with funny signs, kitchenware, cottage and shabby chic style decor. Salespeople are always friendly and helpful. They are usually open on holidays for that plumbing emergency. They also allow dogs in the stores. It would be OK with a small dog but a large dog may knock a few things off the aisles. read more

This place is the best! Not only do they have a massive variety of tools and hardware, they offer tailored advice and recommendations for problems you might have. I came into the store having no idea how I might address an emergency with my roof that needed to be patched that day. The couple (whom I believe own the store) took care of me and offered a variety of recommendations and options they thought might work. I left with multiple options to try and feeling much more prepared to fix the problem. Will absolutely be shopping here again rather than going to a larger hardware chain. read more

Often I find myself needing to go to a hardware store. Only the largest one is at least a fifteen-minute drive away. So it's much more convenient for me to visit Carmichael's--only a five-minute drive. Convenience isn't the only reason I like to patronize Carmichael's. I receive prompt attention with a smile and eagerness to serve. That service has included helping me determine which product I need, fixing a lamp, and even adding oil to my car! My young girls enjoy going to Carmichael's, too, because of its novelty merchandise. Oh, and Carmichael's pricing is great as well! SO HELPFUL!!! Really nice people that will help you with any project. I have gone in with plumbing questions and all sorts of home improvement needs and they are always helpful. When I go to Home Depot, the customer service always turn and walk away when they see I have a question, At Carmichael's, they treat you like you matter. Everything Under the Sun tucked into the Small Space, Amazing Customer Service! This is my first stop for any hardware needs. From small, one-piece fasteners to home repair to household goods, it is incredible to see how they stuff so much into this space. Everytime I think there is no way they will have what I need and that I will need to drive to a larger store, I am pleasantly surprised to find out they DO have what I need. You can buy a single screw there, which you cannot do at Home Depot or Lowe's. It is truly an old-school hardware store with long-time owners and staff who know their stuff. They greet me every single time I walk in and if I don't have time for the pleasure of walking the aisles, I just tell them what I need and they walk me right there. Okay, this place is awesome! The customer service was so attentive and they were ready to tend to all of your shopping needs. They had everything, from kickballs to nuts and bolts. At the entrance, they had a lot of great signs and other items and they instantly greeted us and asked us what we needed. When we needed baseballs, they even pumped them up! Thank you Carmichaels!
