Carmine's is tucked into a shopping center near the Newtown Square Acme. Inside, the decor is trendy and energetic. After being shown to our table and waiting for a server, we were eventually greeted with, "Did anyone take your order?" Not a great start but at least someone came over. We ordered a beet salad to share along with a spicy carbonara, a crab penne pasta, and a rigatoni bolognese. The salad, which we ordered without the candied almonds, was delicious with its limoncello vinaigrette and goat cheese. My daughter liked the spicy carbonara and said it wasn't overly spicy. I loved the crab penne pasta. It was creamy and full of crab, and the pesto/basil made it a unique dish. The rigatoni was good but could have been more substantial. During dinner, we asked for cheese which never made it to our table. Also, the background music was too loud and out of sync for a relaxing dining experience. Fortunately, our server brought over two complimentary desserts to make up for the lack of cheese which was kind of her. The cheese cake was exceptional, and we saved the cannolis for another day. Where do I start, the long wait time for our order to be take or the fact that another 3 person party came in after us and was tended to prior to my group. OR the fact that another group came in after them and was waited on before us. Appetizer and entrees brought out to everyone before my group. My steak came out cold, my husband's pasta was cold but he didn't want to send it back. I already sent back my steak (cancel that!) we had to wait for the check after asking and they didn't even give us a bag, we had to ask for that too. The waitress got bags, walked away from us after receiving the check with the bags under her arm, served another guest a beer and we had to say "hey, the bag" like come on. 0/10 please don't give these people your money. AND they have the nerve to add gratuity!!!!! For what?! Poor service and cold food. read more

From the other reviews I have seen regarding Carmine' Eatery, one would think something is inherently wrong here. However, in my experience, not only is that definitely NOT the case, but everything was so over-the-top outstanding I cannot believe that anyone had a less-than-stellar experience here at all. Decided to come here for an impromptu birthday lunch for my wife and took a glance at the exciting menu, but nothing more than that. We knew nothing about it at all other than that it was nearby and it met the requirement of the minute, which was that apparently we would die if we didn't have a meatball. So, searching for a delicious meatball we happened to find somewhere I intend to go back to again, if not regularly. The space is a very cool neo-mod style arranged almost like a bar and restaurant side-by-side, almost as if it was in attached train cars from a futuristic Italy but that is taking place in an alternate dimension that is also wholly within the 1960's. If that wasn't confusing enough, they have a beautiful pocket-style door/wall that stashes away, opening the front of the bar side up to the outdoors and has a table right at the opening, allowing you to really enjoy the day, but still be inside and not in the sun or out towards the parking lot. Our server was also amazing, listening to me prattle on and giving great suggestions on my many indecisions between dishes. Obviously, we knew we wanted the meatballs and ordered it immediately, and it came perfectly before the meal with a beer that I ordered...and boy were we happy we chose to stop here for them because they are perfect. Perfect flavor, perfect consistency, and the house-made marinara was downright godly. We both opted for sandwiches, with mine being the Panuozzo. Sort of a spruced up cheesesteak with waaaaay higher quality ingredients made into a pseudo-panini. I normally steer away from this sort of thing but this was unbelievably good, and surprisingly large. The side salad brought before the panuozzo was also incredible, with a from-scratch vinaigrette I am still upset that I couldn't get the recipe for. Carmine's Eatery is really a place you need to go to in order to experience it properly. I am not sure if people have ordered food to pick up, had it delivered, come when it was extremely busy, or if possibly the restaurant had some problems and growing pains since its inception. What I do know is that I was blown away from the minute we arrived until the minute we left...and again the next day when we enjoyed what we took home! This is a place that you should try if you are looking for an interesting hybrid of Italian and Mediterranean with some fun unique spins on traditional dishes, and if you are in the area or even further out from Newtown Square, make this a destination and experience the deliciousness and interesting space yourself! read more

Stay away. Probably the worst service experience I have had in very long time. The server just disappeared. After calling her, she thought she was doing us a favor by showing up and then giving excuses she is busy with a large party. Probably should reconsider her choices in life. Then called for the manager (Kostas), who seemed to have left an hour earlier. This place should consider hiring new manager and new staff if they want to stay in business. Unfortunately, the food was really good. The ambience was great was well. Pity such bad service ruins the experience. This place should consider switching to take-out only, as they clearly have not idea on how to run a restaurant. read more

** BEWARE - Server Changes Tip Amount & Stole $30 and Management Backed The Server. ** The frumpy, miserable, middle-aged host who was also our server was Nella. Dined here a few days ago and checked my bank transactions today to find out Nella added an extra $30 to her tip. Upon finding out, I called the restaurant to speak with a manager, but unfortunately, Nella, being the host, answers the incoming calls to the restaurant. Within a few hour span, I had to make 5 phone calls to Carmines Eatery in order to speak with a "manager". Immediately, the "manager" is extremely defensive asking if I have proof. He wouldn't even give me his name. I explained the situation multiple times to this person, something so simple, yet this person could not comprehend. I provided him with a picture of the signed receipt and my bank statement, and he ended the call stating that he would investigate and get back to me by 10 am the following day. I call the next day, still Nella. The manager apparently isn't working all day. What kind of a joke is this? Nonetheless, by the afternoon the "manager" did call me to let me know that Nella "made a mistake". That's it. No apology. No accountability. Nothing. For what it's worth... there's 0 chance Nella "made a mistake". Shame on Nella and this restaurant to allow such behavior. The owner responded to my review with "We have already discussed this with you Colin...not nice to lie and make up accounts like you did...shame on you" Let me make this clear - the owner has never once reached out, nor have I spoken to him/her. I've called multiple times, emailed, etc but crickets on their end. This person should not be in the restaurant business, as they have 0 respect for their customers. The amount of unprofessionalism is mind-blowing to me. Please eat somewhere else where you're treated with respect and don't have to worry about their staff STEALING from you. Very nice atmosphere. Totally not what I was expecting. Full Bar. Very pricy for a salad, and a cheesesteak. Much better options in the area. I asked for light on the cheese and ketchup on the steak. Neither request was honored. I like cheese but not alot due to dietary restrictions. After seeing my steak, I watched the cook make another. 8 slices of cheese on a sandwich. Whew thats a lot. First time i tried this place was when my boss was visiting from California. Its very calm and chill. I usually go for late lunch. I get all of my big and catering orders from these guys whenever I have a presentation. People I order for really enjoy their pizzas and their steak rolls. I typically place an order over the phone a day before and remind them about the order the next day. I personally enjoy their Jalapeno poppers. Their sandwiches are really filled all the way and the texture and consistency of pizza is to my liking. Do you know that feeling when you eat even just a slice or two of pizza, sometimes you feel like ick? Their crust does not make me feel sick like that and its also very satisfying. read more

WOW! What an incredible change at this Newtown Square spot. Way more than a facelift, the whole restaurant has been updated and redesigned with a new menu, bar, drinks and staff. The bar is great, with ample seating and a light feel. The dining room has been redone with a vibrant and energetic look. The menu fits perfectly for the area. The food is an absolute stand out, there is simply nothing on the menu that hasn't been delicious. So happy to see this restaurant flourish! read more

Carmines was a great find in the area. We had three pizzas, one gluten-free. No problem accommodating GF. The staff was super friendly and it was no problem to walk in on a Saturday early without a reservation. The interior was pretty cool looking, which was especially surprising given the dirty strip mall that it was in. Although we didn't sample much from the bar, it looks like they had a really extensive collection of liquor. We already texted friends of ours who live a little closer to Carmines to suggest that we should go back there soon. Maybe next time I'll get some pictures before everything gets eaten! read more

Picked up a pie last week. Been quite a while since last visit. Candidly, this place doesn't pop up on my radar often due to tucked in location in Acme-anchored strip. Pizza was delicious. A bit pricey- 23 bucks for a large pie that was on the small side. Flavor made up for it. Service was good and place looks clean - not dingy ol pizza shop feel. And many pizza by the slice options. Opted for very simple fare: Chicken tenders. With an eggplant parm to go. Service is friendly and quick. Sat outside. Guy brings my food out to me. Thx. Tenders are the way I like em. Thin and lightly breaded. The eggplant parm is good right there. Doesn't warm up nice. And definitely seedy and a bit bitter. For a quick lunch bite, it's a good spot. A big disappointment from the last time we visited. Service was excellent and they were receptive to feedback. Pepperoni pizza was cold and soggy. Carbonara was very good. But the prices are now the same as everywhere else on the Main Line which comes with an expectation of a much better experience which frankly wasn't there. read more

Friday fabulous find!!! Nick, our bartender, greeted us as soon as we sat down even though he was crazy busy. That to me as a former bartender is top notch! The manager and a server were eager to help him out for a hot second which is all he needed. So A+ for team work. The food...... SO good!!! I know why no one is here. The food is sub par. I had a chicken parmesan sandwich, terrible. We also had a beef gyro only to bite into it and bite a toothpick!! In the middle of it all. How awful!!. Bravo to Carmine's Eatery on their gorgeous new restaurant. Been reading and seeing on social media about the updates and it didn't disappoint! Went this evening with a group of friends and between the atmosphere, food, drinks, desserts and service it was the perfect evening! We sat at a high top table and it was wonderful because the door was open and it was a beautiful evening to enjoy fresh air. We sampled numerous appetizers and the hummus was divine! Our table had the calamari, salads and the pizza was phenomenal! The crust was perfection with their new pizza ovens! It tasted like pizza from Italy with the crispy, but light crust. Our table had the truffle fries and cheese steaks with chicken and pork. My friends agreed the food was incredible. I can't wait to bring my family here to try more of their delicious food. The end of the evening we shared numerous desserts. They were all fresh and so unique. There was a donut dessert, and I'm normally not a donut fan, but this dessert was worth tasting! Our table also had a traditional baklava cake with vanilla ice cream and a blueberry cheesecake that was unlike any I've ever had before. Recently found out they they upgraded from just a pizza place, to a beautifully decorated full-service restaurant. The interior has a nice, large bar area with multiple TV's. We did take-out on our first try, and our teenage granddaughter said it was the best Marherita pizza she ever had. I also loved the beet salad and have ordered it several times since. I have been here a few times the past few weeks and look forward to going again. The menu has a lot of choices all of which seem worth ordering. I've had a Caesar salad, the fried calamari, a cheesesteak and the chicken spinach mushroom sandwich and tried the pizza. The interior of the restaurant looks to have been recently remodeled and has a nice contemporary feel. The wait staff hostess and manager all seem really friendly and genuine.
