Delicious food and great service. The veal parmesan was prepared to perfection. We tried the Ravioli special which was a chicken and cheese with a spicy marinara, yummmm. Had never had a chicken Ravioli so went for something different and was not disappointed. The shrimp scampi was also tasty. Let's start with the vibe. We loved the vibe. 1.5 stars for that. Sitting outside on the patio during a Rockies game was super fun for us especially from being out of town. The service was amazing. Also, the wine selection was super awesome. Let's talk about the food! There were 3 of us and it is family style so we ordered some appetizers and a couple entrees. Bread Service: okay this bread was good. It had garlic butter on top of it but it was hard to pull apart. I almost knocked over all our drinks trying. House Salad: The dressing on this salad was something else. I almost licked the plate. It's enough for two people. Thankfully my husband doesn't like salads hahaha. Chicken Piccata: I am going to begin this with...chicken piccata is one of my favorites. If I see it on a menu I will almost always order it. This one. Not my favorite. This review should really be a 3.5 stars over-all. Our order was messed up and they didn't offer to comp anything. Our server was lovely and attentive. But, the restaurant needs more wall and floor noise buffers cause it was VERY loud. The meatballs were delicious and the eggplant Parmesan was excellent, but the spaghetti is not made in-house and the red sauce is bland, disappointingly. I flew into the city early for work, hung out for a bit, and ended up being in the mood for Italian after hanging out at McGregor Square as I stayed at The Rally. A coworker and I weren't too hungry, so we ordered the salad. The downside was that we weren't allowed to add grilled chicken to the salad even though we were encouraged to order a separate entree to go with it. That's where the three stars comes from was the lacking option. The service was welcoming and amicable, and the ambiance of sitting outside was really nice for the early part of the week. I wish I could give this place three and a half stars as the rolls were fresh and AMAZING, and they alone are a strong element in the dining experience. I'll be back in July for work again and look forward to trying more menu items with coworkers and possibly providing a better score. Finally tried carmines for the first time and it was fabulous. Definitely pricey and good for a night out! But if you're looking for Italian, this place will satisfy! To start, the bread is amazing. It comes before the meal and you're lucky if it lasts more than a minute on your table. We got the meatballs with vodka sauce. The sauce was sooo creamy and delicious with super soft and juicy meatballs! The chicken Frescha was my favorite! Like chicken parm minus the sauce. Lightly breaded and fried, topped with a salad of arugula, tomato, red onion, and garlic aioli. So fresh and delicious! You're lucky if you have room for dessert. We didn't! We went for my birthday on Friday night and absolutely had the best time! We got there right at 5 when they opened and we were sat in the front section. They brought garlic rolls to the table and OMG they were the most fluffy, decadent, delicious, buttery, wonderfully thing ever. House made bread- you could definitely tell the love in the bread. For dinner we ordered the seasonal ravioli which was lobster with asparagus and artichoke hearts. We also had chicken Parmesan and everything was family style. The ravioli were delicious!!! And the chicken park was seasoned nicely and the chicken was still juicy. For dessert, we got the New York style cheesecake with caramel sauce and a blueberry sauce on the side. This location is closer to downtown/LoDo so we were concerned about parking at first but there are lots of metered parking & parking garages in the area. We had made a reservation in advance and so was able to get right in and seated when we got there. We went during Denver's Restaurant week so we picked an appetizer, entree, and dessert to share. We got the a Caesar salad to start & bruschetta. They also brought over some delicious bread. They served the salads onto our plates. Lots of big crunchy crotons. Then we split spaghetti & meatballs and asked for marinara sauce instead of the vodka sauce. Our server also served it onto our plates and then left the remainder of the dish on the table. It was A LOT of food. When glancing at their menu - it is all family style or servings for 2 so you'll have to make sure you have the same tastes as the people you are dining with. Our review of Carmine's in Mcrgregor Square is very disappointing. I think what initially set off our poor experience was that we had a 7:30 reservation- the latest reservation available was for 8:00. By the time we sat and got water, it was already 7:45 in which we were immediately informed by our waiter that the kitchen closes at 8?? The latest reservation was for 8 so how was the kitchen closing at 8?? I was also almost embarrassed that we had reservations because there was only 1 other table there- which makes sense now. The hard menu had no descriptions so we had to look up on our phone the online menu for details. My kids are highly allergic to shellfish, which several dishes had in it. We asked if a certain item on the menu could be made without shrimp and we were told no, which is fine however it said all items were made fresh so I guess I assumed wrong. Also, our noodles tasted like they had been made hours beforehand as they were sticky. With it being family style, we really had to understand how to order and what we wanted to share, but we felt pressure to order quickly with knowing the kitchen "closed" at 8. The food was mediocre and when we were asked if we wanted dessert we were told again that the kitchen was closing so we needed to decide. There was also a McGregor area charge and also a 4% service charge on the bill to pay the kitchen staff which I had to ask about. The waiter said they got rid of the 22% service charge because so many customers complained so I'm not sure why there was still a 4% service charge? Overall, I was not impressed, especially for spending almost $200! We might have ordered another round of drinks and dessert but I didn't want to spend more money and we felt pressured to leave. It was my husband's birthday dinner which I had noted on the reservation and it was a big disappointment, The best part was the garlic bread and the view of the ice skating rink! read more

My niece selected Carmine's and I should have protested. I had a small appetite, I am supposed to avoid wheat and fried foods, and tomato sauce activates my acid reflux. Her daughter & my husband wanted the chicken parmigiana, so that's what we ordered for the four of us. Niece ordered a side of polenta for the two of us and husband and daughter had sides of pasta (spaghetti for the 11 year old & ziti for hubby). It was family style, so we had four large chicken breasts. All three sides were big enough for two or 3 people - not just the one who ate it. Our wait staff was exceptional- attentive, friendly, solicitous. When the bread was delivered, it was too much to resist. It was delicious, and I knew my body would rebel later. But I enjoyed every bite. It was the same story with the chicken parmigiana. The coating was rich and divine, and the chicken inside was moist. Again my body rebelled later for eating tomato sauce and fried food. My three family members also loved everything delivered to the table, but we could not consume all of it. We took the leftovers to the hotel. As we were from out of town, we could not enjoy the leftovers the next day - no microwave and no insulated bag to transport them three hours home. We ated leaving them behind in the trash. This is an excellent Italian restaurant for two hungry people, or a hungry family of four or more, with no dietary restrictions. Ambiance: went to this restaurant on Saturday 4/6 when it got cold and windy. The restaurant was not busy. Why would you sit three of us right by the door when there are tables further away from the door where we and our food would not get cold. Service: waitress was nice and friendly. A different person came to the table to service our salad and pasta. One asked not have croutons in the Caesar salad. She literally scooped little to nothing on his plate and then dumped the rest on another plate. The salad was to be split between three. Why would you be passive aggressive with a simple request. Or just let us serve ourselves if you're going to have an issue. Then when the pasta came she did the same thing. There was no special request on the pasta but it's like she remembered he ask for no croutons and gave that one person so little on his plate compared to the other two and there was still pasta on the main plate that she served it from. When she walked away I picked it up bowl the pasta came in and had more left in it and gave my friend some more. I felt bad. Food: The pasta was not much better than Olive Garden. The price you pay for what you get not worth it. Our bill was over 200 for three of us. One drink each and a bottle of their cheapest wine. It was not worth it. If you want better Italian, go to DiFranco's. 7 min south. It's locally owned, made fresh and in house. So far my favorite Italian restaurant. The staff were all great and as we sat for our meal we chatted with nearby tables. I came here for my birthday party; made reservations in advanced, made modifications via phone (heads up, if you have a party of more than 9, they'll need a credit card)- all smooth and easy. Maybe it's me- but the menu was tough without descriptions of food items. What's a vegetarian item? What's a Tour de Italy? (hint- it's not Olive Garden- it's a charcuterie) I felt a little "Karen" esque, but I had A LOT of questions for our server. What's included? How big is family size? What would she recommend? It was... kind a overwhelming ordering. Now, onto food- we ended up with a spinach salad (pretty sure we got a house salad? I dunno... I dared to not ask more questions since it was my bday party), chicken parm (they made us cut the big chicken cutlets ourselves at the table), a two pastas. The pasta primavera was by far the best item- the ziti and chicken parm were mediocre. The bread was good tho! The garlicky, buttery bread rolls- ymmmm. At the end, it was just very unorganized- packing out boxes but not having enough togo boxes, forgetting a bag and having to ask our servers to go back... just kinda seemed disorganized. The noodles were clearly cooked at 9 a.m. and left to sit out for what seemed like seven hours. Not a single thing in this so-called restaurant is made in-house. The carbonara not only tastes like dog food, but it also looks even worse--an unappetizing, sloppy mess. The atmosphere was unnerving, with overly cheerful workers practically grinning as they served us this highway robbery on a plate. The portions were pathetically small, especially considering the outrageous prices. I've never been more eager to leave a restaurant than I was last night. I'm really in-between 3 and 4 stars here. More like a 3.5! My least favorite part about this place was the menu setup. All of their dishes come with a standard "2-person size." This made it extremely difficult to order because none of my friends wanted the same dish so we all had to suck it up and buy separate dishes. This resulted in us spending way more money than desired and having a ton of food left over. Honestly my favorite part was the free rolls. They are made with garlic and olive oil (no butter) and tasted divine. I could've had so many. The pasta was good but it was nothing to write home about. I ordered the seafood pasta and it was okay but it was spicier than expected (the waitress said it was barely spicy at all.) It was also a bit too fishy tasting for my likes. The carbonara was quite good - super heavy but that's expected! My favorite dish was actually the vodka pasta; simple but quite yummy. As for dessert - the cheesecake was delicious and we could top it with either caramel or lemon raspberry sauce. The chocolate covered strawberries, however, were coated in way too much chocolate so they were hard to but through. We had to actually try to use a fork and knife to get through them but even that was tough! Overall this place was good. We were in town for our anniversary and as we have always enjoyed Carmine's in NYC and Las Vegas, we decided to order in food at our hotel which offered Carmine's delivery to our room. Unfortunately, it did not appear the chef was tasting the food prior to it going out. We ordered two different pasta dishes (Ravioli and Carbonara) and both were inedible due to the salt content. The sauce was salty but what really stood out was the pasta. It tasted like someone dumped a bucket of salt in the pasta water. $60 worth of entries in the garbage. The salad was good, the desserts were excellent, the staff we spoke with when ordering were very friendly, but the entries were ruined by the heavy salt (we do always salt our food, so we aren't adverse to salt). We called the restaurant to let them know what happened and they thanked us for our feedback and offered to remake it, but we honestly didn't want wait again and chance the same overly salty pasta water and sauce being used again. It was disappointing as this was our anniversary dinner and when we told them what happened, they didn't offer to refund our money for the dishes and due to that, we won't return. We also learned the following day that locals felt it used to be a good restaurant, but that it's "gone downhill". read more

Fine dining atmosphere, and family style eating. Come here, indulge in pasta, drink wine, and talk all night. I came here to eat with a party of 7 at 7:30pm. We made a reservation a few days ahead of time. We were in the area so we swung by and they seated us early. The place was crowded and filled with large groups. It was a little loud inside with many tables chatting, but not too bad. The service here was average. They took our order in a timely manner, changed our plates between courses, and came by to pour the table wine, but we asked for additional water for the table a few times because the delicious food was salty, but it came very delayed and inconsistent. The food here is delicious, and the menu is built so you have to share the meal with at least one person which absolutely captures the purpose of Italian cuisine, to connect with others! The bread for the table seems like it was soaked in butter and toasted. The family size house Caesar salad was enough for 7 people. We ordered the crushed fingerling potatoes, seafood risotto, ravioli with vodka sauce, carbonara, meatballs, chicken parmigiana, chicken picatta. My favorite of the variation of dishes we ordered was the ravioli with vodka sauce. The vodka sauce flavor coupled with the strong cheese tasted amazing inside a perfectly cooked ravioli pasta. The family size dishes are quite expensive but you do get a decently large sized plate of food! If you love Italian food, talking across the table loudly, and passing dishes of food around, come to this spot. Parking: Only downside is there is not free parking around here. There is a structure which is $4/20mins. And that adds up if you're spending 2+ hours here eating and chatting. Street parking is the cheapest but it was hard to find an open spot in the heart of downtown. I had to pay $10 for a parking spot on a lot a few blocks away. read more

We stopped by here on a Saturday night to grab some carry out and the food is absolutely incredible. The second you set foot in the door you're hit by the smell of amazing Italian food. (It isn't) The Caesar salad was wilting in Caesar dressing served in a plastic bowl like Olive Garden mind you it was half full. They brought our food to us and started to serve it...then someone came over and said that's not for this table...they took it up and brought it back. The gnocchi was undercooked. The waitress literally stopped by two times. once to take order for drinks then to take take our food order. another service provider prepared our plates and asked us if we needed anything else. The food was very uninspired. Olive Garden would've been a better choice. We didn't want to complain because we were with guess, we just will never go back. When the waitress came by to collect our money that was the third time I saw her she asked for more than 22% because that was just for the service staff to share.
