Exceptional wings. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Perfect balance of sweet and heat.

Impressive repurposing of a beautiful historic building. Only got wings this time. Did not expect to be blown away. Perfectly cooked with crispy exterior and juicy interior. Will definitely be back to try other items. They do disclose a fee of 20% is added to the bill so you don't need to add tip.

Excellent way to use an old building! Schoolyard Beer Garden sits upon the once famed Evan's School House, constructed in the early 1900s. This teacher loves a good historic school building and the history behind it is really cool. The Schoolyard keeps with the school theme and has divided up the inside into several businesses with one large food/beverage hall at the center. The variety of food options is excellent- American and Mediterranean cuisine unite. Cheese curds are amazing and plentiful. Prices are very reasonable for a downtown Denver affair. Their beverages are well thought out too with happy hours occurring daily. Obviously, the beer garden is in the title, so lots of beer choices as well. You order on a tab like situation and cash out at the end of the night. There is an automatic 20% gratuity added FYI. Trivia night on Thursdays is also a good time- sponsored by Geeks who Drink. We came in 4th so yay for us! I had a great time, great food, and great drinks. Can't wait to go back and try more of what Schoolyard had to offer.

Great place for coffee, lunch , cream or a beer . Lots of options for a snack or drink. Tons of seating indoors & outdoors.

Loooove the massive outdoor area. As a dog owner I'm always looking for dog friendly places to enjoy a meal and beverage. The food was pretty good, if not a little expensive for what you're getting. I think they really draw you in for the vibe. I'd def go back, but maybe just for a beer!

This place is SO cool. It is an old repurposed indoor school and there's many businesses inside but the main ones are the beer garden and the cafe. They both have many food and drink options and a lot of seating both inside and out. My partner and I spent some time walking around the inside to see what it looked like and it was so cool to see all the functional space to either just eat or work or hang out with friends. We sat outside and the outdoor seating was amazing, especially for a really nice sunny day. For food we had the gyro and a beer brat. I really liked the beer brat but the gyro I probably would not get again. It was a good portion but it was just kind of messy and I've had better gyros out there. For drinks, my partner had a beer and I had two cocktails which both were equally well done. I was so excited to find this place and want to invite my friends for a evening of drinks or to bring some board games and to hang out. I want to call this a hidden gem because I never hear people talking about it, but it seems like a lot of people have because it was poppin!

If your grade school had served beer and offered craft cocktails under bistro lights, I probably would've skipped fewer classes. Enter The School Yard Beer Garden, a charmingly reimagined historic space where detentions are out and day drinking is in. Set in what looks like a vintage schoolhouse that traded textbooks for tap handles, this spot is dripping with character. Every creaky floorboard and weathered brick whispers, "We've seen things," while your pint of local brew says, "Let's make some new memories." Though I didn't eat (note to self: return hungry), the bar food menu strutted past me looking crispy, cheesy, and craveable. Think elevated classics that make you feel nostalgic and slightly rebellious at the same time. Whether you're sipping a fancy cocktail in the cozy interior or catching sunshine in the lively outdoor patio (with mist fans!), the vibe here is an A+. It's equal parts speakeasy, history class, and recess for adults. Highly recommend for your next casual hang or classy cocktail crawl. Just don't be surprised if you end up staying for extra credit.

Fall patio vibes - heater on :)

Great addition to the Denver beer scene! I love the vibes on the patio. Location can't be beat! Near the art museum and downtown, it's an easy place to add onto our Denver weekend trips! When I'm not feeling,in like a beer, I've ordered a frozé - delightful. You order at the counter and they have food options, in addition to drinks. Service has been good on both visits. If we lived closer, we'd be regulars!

We were so lucky to be staying directly across the street from this place. Really cool historic building converted into McMinimam style. Order and pay inside for alcohol and food. Take it outside to eat on community picnic tables. Could have large groups. Covered or open air Also indoors many seating options with tvs. Food and craft beers were awesome. Giant pretzel with mustard and brat hit the spot. No need to go downtown or find a cool spot. Located in Capitol Hill district. We felt safe walking around there at night. Paid Parking lot next door is also where our lodging said to park overnight. Denver and Colorado is known for their craft beer and food scene. We were not let down.

Overall, the vibes are immaculate! It's so charming and cool that it used to be a school and has been renovated into a community center with various businesses, a cafe, and a restaurant! It's pretty nice that it's dog-friendly, and the menu options were good (had gluten-free alternatives). I went this second time on a sunny day, and the patio was so nice to hang out and eat on. The service was decent/good. The parking isn't the best, though (the nearby parking lot is $5 for 2 hrs, or nearby street parking). I wish it were free, but realistically, that's not feasible for being in the city. Overall will continue coming back for brunch/lunch and especially in the summer with my pooch!

This is such a fantastic use of a retired school! Huge space, dog friendly, something for all ages. I just had a beer and some cheese curds, both were delicious. Staff was friendly and I can't wait to go back!

Went back a couple times, and I always have a good time. The only gripe is that the 20% auto-gratuity on $15 cocktails can be a little much. I don't mind tipping, but it makes it very hard to justify an auto-grat on something like a $12 wine that is pour & go. Their food is good, but also on the pricier side. Other than that, the space is nice and good for large parties!

What a fun use of an older space! I stopped in before the chalk art festival and had some drinks while we waited for artists to get a little more done (the rain really messed things up for them.) The place is spacious with a few spots inside for food, drinks and snacks. There was seating both indoors and outdoors. We had our drinks pretty quickly and sat at a table outside and people watched. I liked the vibe and the drinks were albeit expensive. I need to come back and see if there is a good happy hour!

Starting with the cons this time -- adding a 20% gratuity, not even 15%, for what service? Bussers, I guess? And sure, bartenders who pour the drinks, probably the cooks, too? But no one knows, we aren't informed exactly where the added tips go. For the most part, I don't agree with this. As a former server, I had to spend HOURS with customers and dealing with their every little need, and at times attitudes, to earn my tip usually between 15-20%, not always 20 and rarely added unless it was a party of 8 or more. It's like a TAX at this point more than it is a fee we pay for "Good Service" regardless if "Good Service" was provided or not. I think it's unwarranted and people should be able to determine their own gratuity. From what I have always understood, gratuity is never required. I cannot legally leave an establishment without paying for food, drink, and tax. But, legally, I can leave an establishment without paying a gratuity (I'm not talking what's wrong vs right morally, I'm talking what's lawful). As more and more places add gratuity, it is often lessor service, takes the control away from a customers' own money & how much of their money they want to give out, and we also have less ability to know where all the tips go or even having an option and deicison to exclude tipping gratuity through a credit card versus handing a server cash, if that's what we want, it's our money and we should be able to decide. It's all just really weird where the service industry is headed and it's always at the detriment of the customer. The bussers are a bit too much at times! Please don't take or ask to take stuff that people are not done with drinking or eating. How is it not obvious the majority of the time? Twice, once me and once my friend, were asked "Are you done with that?" for cups that weren't empty... ummmm, no... I mean stuff is expensive, too, why would I not finish or not want it if it is still sitting in front of me with volume in it? And funny I rolled up the paper from some food I ate and left it on the end of the table and a different busser looked at me with an "Is this ok to take?" expression, lol, yes it's rolled up in a ball, it would be trash at that point. My fulleth cup, no. I think the bussers are really young and inexperienced and hopefully will get it over some period of time in their jobs. The inside where the bar and main restaurant are is SOOOO LOUD, if you want to have any type of conversation, this might be annoying. The hallway outside that area where they have tables is better. Outside is better, too, of course. I didn't make it to the cafe, I'll have to check that out next time. Outside there is quite the amount of seating, I bet it gets packed during nice days. There is not supposed to be smoking and some dude had like 3-4 cigarettes the time it took me to finish my food, drink a beer, and visit with a friend. Yuck!! I hope they get a little more observant of this (versus wait for someone to complain first) and simply tell the smokers that this is no smoking and direct them where to stand and hopefully not right to other tables even if they go to the sidewalk cause it may still blow in people's faces if the wind is going that way. It's really rude & nasty for many to have to smell other people's cigarette smoke in your face when you don't smoke. The beer options were ... ok. Nothing super exciting for me personally. I tried a couple IPAs and the cider I sampled was decent. Some of the drink prices are a bit high for this type of atmosphere. To eat, my friend and I split the Cubano sandwich and onion rings side. The sandwich was pretty good! I'd get it again. The onion rings weren't really greasy, so that was nice, I could've handled a couple more of them. The outside heaters weren't strong enough and I wish they blew some of the hot air outwards. We moved as close as we could to it on the bench and I barely felt the warmth at all. It's like they were barely even there, boo because I was cold on that damp day after a downpour. I'm glad there's finally a beer hall in the area! I hope I see more dogs next time :)

Is this a good place to watch college football?

There are three televisions in the main indoor room which has seating and the order counter. There is a larger projection screen down the stairs in the Boiler Room. You'll have to talk to the manager about programming.

Now, I really wish that I had recorded that entire conversation, but I was so shocked that I left in tears actually. He explained to me like a child how I should apply at King Soopers because that's where they hire women I have been a customer here for years, and this man had never seemed as though he would discriminate, but I am spending money there so why would he. Either way, please cease to support this company and this man. I pulled up Cask and Craft's website and was super happy to see the list of precautions they are taking to keep their customers safe. Some of these precautions include only 2 people in the shop at a time, use provided hand sanitizer when you enter, and even curbside pick up/delivery. Since I was sitting in front of the store, I figured I'd just go in, get what I needed, and quickly head home. I was greeted and asked to use the hand sanitizer upon entering - yes, thank you. I then explained from a distance that I was looking for a dark beer, preferably a stout. I was escorted to the back of the store and shown the fridge with all the dark beer. WOW! big selection. I had the choice of 6 packs, 4 packs, or mix and match. This was perfect for me because I needed 5 beers. I ended up selecting Jackie O's Java the Stout. When I brought up my 5 pack, the owner told me it was a great beer (one of his favorite dark beers) and that it was a solid choice. He was not wrong. This beer is awesome, and paired so well with my peanut butter cookie pairing. So good. I will definitely be back to Cask and Craft.
