We stopped in to Carnaval for lunch while doing some shopping in Redmond. I had read some great reviews and had been wanting to give it a try. Overall we were pleased with the food. My husband had the fish tacos and I had the Torta Ahogada. I wish I would have paid a little closer attention to the description on the torta, it was definitely not what I expected. It was swimming in sauce. I have never had one served in this manner before. It was good, but not really what I had been wanting. My husband really enjoyed his fish tacos. Service was pleasant and prices were fairly average. Will go back to try some other options. read more

Excellent freshly made food and added bonus, they were able to seat us at the bar right away in spite of a rather busy dinner hour. The black beans were made correctly and the rice was tasty and fluffy. The staff is very friendly - none of the Portland attitude we are so tired of getting at some of the high end Mexican restaurant. What can I say about this restaurant?.... The food, service, attitude....all deserve 5 stars. Best Mezcal Margaritas I've had anywhere. The food is consistently excellent with flavoring marinades that add to without overpowering the flavors of the protein dish. The deserts are well made and delicious. Simone really takes care to keep the quality of the dishes at top notch here. As for the service all I can say is that they are always nearby with lots of friendly staff who are very accommodating. We were a party of 5 with two physically challenged guest and the staff did an outstanding, kind act of making us all comfortable and part of a family restaurant (which it is). Wowza, another great sandwich place. We had the Agave Chicken Sandwich $13 and Torta de Carnitas $13 and they were both awesome. Their carnitas is to die for. The fresh salsa and table side guacamole were delicious. We asked a couple regulars what they would recommend and they went through most things on the menu and how they would recommend it. The carne asada with homemade corn tortillas were perfectly seasoned and also delicious. My husband had the pork and said it was some of the best he has had. Went to the "Carnival Mexican Grill" in downtown Redmond for dinner. My oh my. Yup this place is delicious. Started out with drinks, a strawberry margarita for the wife, a mezcal in Paradise for myself, and the classic corona extra for the mother in law. They were all tasteful as heck. Mild salsa and house corn tortillas were provided at the beginning. We also ordered the chips and queso for the appetizer. Queso was rich, stringy, ooey gooey greatness. Definitely recommend. For entree's, I ordered the Baja fish tacos which were fried halibut with house made pico. Ordered an additional grilled chicken taco and asada taco. Super satisfied with all the tacos. Wife ordered the carne asada arrachera. Pictures don't do it justice so my apologies. Anyways, I was fortunate enough to try it out. Yum. Meat was tender and rich in authentic skirt steak dish flavor and presentation. My Baja fish tacos were absolutely bomb by the way!! WOW. Colorful on the plate and flavorful in taste. Just what I needed. The chicken and asada street tacos were also legit and delicious. Mother in law ordered the chicken burrito. As always, burritos are stuffed with all the delicious things and massive in size. I again got a taste and very delicious. Overall, the atmosphere in the restaurant was solid, all dishes were flavorful and authentic, and the drinks were tasteful. The pricing is pretty standard with every other Mexican restaurant but at least here, you feel the authenticity. Will definitely come again and try something else. Feb. 29 2024 for lunch. Fresca Margherita was sour tasting and couldn't taste any tequila. Turned it back in for a Cadillac Margherita which tasted almost exactly the same. It was bad. Drank it anyway so not wasteful. Wife had huevos ranchers. Egg was supposed to be OM but was OH and tomatillo sauce was bitter from too much lime. I had burrito and taco. Burrito was smallest I've ever seen, was full of shredded beef only and had a small amount of cheese on top. Taco was stuffed with shredded beef which was a little bland and dry and had lettuce and tomatoes on the side and a little bit of cotija. We also had the queso dip which had too much cheddar and was salty. We added the salsa to it for flavor. All the food and drinks seemed as though no one had tasted them for flavor adjustment in years. The service was good. For our money there are many other much better Mexican restaurants in the area. read more

Buyer beware! Food was great, service was great BUT server took it upon themselves to add a $45 tip to our receipt after we left. We wrote CASH on the tip line, but they were able to manipulate it enough to steal $45 from us. We did do a chargeback and received our money back, but we shouldn't have had to go through that. It's unfortunate because we did have a nice experience there. Only sharing this to prevent someone else from having to go through the same thing. Two stars off because employees (except one male server) were not wearing masks. I ordered takeout on December 28, 2021 and there is 1) a pandemic still going on, 2) a surge in positive cases due to the Omicron variant. Sorry, but if you don't care about humanity and your customers, then I can't respect you. It seems like their sister restaurant (Xalisco) is so much better at following Covid-19 precautions by wearing masks. The food was fairly similar so we'll stick with Xalisco's from now on.
