But the food...Cmon CARNEGIE. If you're gonna have that name you better bring your "A" game with corned beef and Pastrami. I'd settle for "B" game. We had two Pastrami Reuben's . It was ok at best. We found this place as I was searching for somewhere near the movie theater and this caught my eye. There was mixed reviews, but I had to give it a shot. The inside was very pop culture. Very clean and open. Seating was nice and spread out, so you're not sitting on top of other people. I asked our server how long this place has been there and he said 3 years. To start with, we got the guac and chips and the onion rings. Both were excellent. Guac was done perfectly. Onion rings were cooked the right way. The whole onion didn't just come out. It came with the addicting apple based dip. For dinner, we both got the Pastrami. I got the Peter's Special. The meat was as tender as could be and seasoned well. My only complaint was, you only got a single half of a pickle. That's kind of crazy with a sandwich of this magnitude. I honestly dropped a star because the dinner came out before we were even close to finishing the appetizers. That's also considering the fact that we stalled by making believe we didn't know what to order for dinner to help space it out. I came here for breakfast first and it was amazing. My boyfriend got the steak and eggs which is a huge plate - you get three eggs, like half a steak, hash browns, salad and toast. I got the chicken and waffles which were soooooooo good - the chicken was perfect and their gravy was tasty. The burgers are so so I believe they are not freshly made, the patty taste a bit prepped so it's mostly an assembled meal diner. I would voucher for the pastrami over burgers since they use atleast decent consistent pastrami meat over burger patties that tasted like premade beef patties. Looking for a lunch/brunch place with my adult son, and this suburban outpost of the NYC legendary deli came up. Brightly lit as you might expect a diner/deli to be -- a little louder than these aging ears would have hoped for -- difficult to communicate with my son and even with the soft-talking server. Huge menu of eggs, other breakfasts, "other" sandwiches, burgers...and, of course, their classic corned beef and pastrami sandwiches. We went with the classics -- a pastrami sandwich and a pastrami reuben. Both came with a small (overdressed) salad, some cole slaw, and a pickle (as advertised on the menu). Menu says that the sandwiches come with sauerkrat -- neither one did, but we didn't bother to follow up/ask. One negative -- our server -- who was otherwise OUTSTANDING -- professional, friendly, responsive, attentive -- asked "fries?" when we ordered. Turns out fries are included with burgers but not with these sandwiches -- that felt a little icky, like a trick upsell. Would be a lot more honest to say something like "that doesn't come with fries; would you like to order some?" Wondering if they are required to do it that way... Food was good -- exactly as we hoped, albeit not a huge as the portions at the original used to be (n.b. we ARE absolutely confident that they WERE eight ounce portions as advertised). The waitress did the right amount of checking in, allowing old friends to catch up with each other while keeping the waters filled and offering drink refills, etc... The avocado was fresh, and the egg was beautifully poached. The side salad was nothing special. Who eats salad at brunch anyways haha. The place gets super busy on weekends for brunch, so definitely make a reservation on Yelp. Service can be slow because of the crowd, so expect some waiting time for your order.
