    Food that's fresh

This Carniceria is the most beautiful and well stocked one you could imagine, with very good prices. You can buy almost any Mexican grocery item, and the meat case is more beautiful than any big name grocery store. All the food is arranged with care and their meat and seafood is fresh and the tortilla selection is huge. Located along 48th St. just north of Southern Ave in Tempe. The also sell roasted chicken and carne asada and there are a few tables to eat inside the store.

    Albóndigas

Meatballs were raw in my caldo de albondigas ordered these today I've read other reviews about the albóndigas not being cooked correctly wish I would've checked prior to ordering :(

The perfect one stop shop for your taco night. We decided to make tacos de pastor for the very first time tonight and I'm so glad we stopped here for our ingredients. The pastor meat was bomb! It was such good quality meat. We also picked up produce for all the taco fixings (avocado, cilantro, limes, onion, serranos), also all great quality. It's so nice to walk into a small market and be able to find everything you need and more! I even splurged and got myself a mango-vanilla ice cream raspado. We will def be back to try their asada meat.

I LOVE Carnicería Sonora! Ever since someone recommended this little gem, it's the only place I go to get all the ingredients for a carne asada. They have a great variety of meats, spices, and snacks. My favorite thing about this carnicería is how you automatically feel like you're in a different country when you walk in. I love how the piñatas hang from the ceiling and most of the staff is bilingual. It's a really great place to visit if you're looking to find ingredients for authentic Mexican recipes, or if you more craving some delicious Mexican goodies that you won't find at other stores. They have pan dulce, fresh quesos & crema, homemade tortillas, homemade salsas, refrescos, raspados, dulces, etc. They have so many foods to choose from! Check out the pictures of all the goodies. I bet you'll find something you crave!

I love this place! Super authentic with reasonable prices. Our Sunday Funday shennanigans have made this a near-weekly destination. There's a wide selection of different marinated meats, and the Pechuga and Ranchera are the best ways to go for a little daytime grilling. Add in some AMAZING homemade guac, EXTREMELY spicey salsa, and a friendly staff that isn't afraid to poke fun at wearing an Argentina jersey to their store on the same day they beat Mexico and you've got a winning combination.

    They have everything here!

I'll be honest, this place wasn't even on my radar. We have a second home out here and spend part…read moreof the year in Phoenix, but I had somehow never heard of Hobe Meats. I only ended up here because I've been on a bit of a backyard cooking kick lately. We've got a full outdoor kitchen and smoker, and today we're hosting a crowd, so I figured I'd go hunt down a solid brisket. That quick errand turned into something else entirely. Walked in and immediately knew I wasn't in a typical grocery store meat section. The selection is on another level. I went in with tunnel vision for brisket and walked out with a beautiful cut, plus a leg of lamb and a few Wagyu steaks that I absolutely did not plan on buying. No regrets. The quality speaks for itself. Everything looked fresh, well-cut, and handled by people who clearly know what they're doing. Not just tossing meat in a case and calling it a day. There were also some more unique options that caught my eye, the kind of stuff you don't usually see unless you're really looking for it. Definitely gave me a few ideas for future weekends. What really stuck with me though was the staff. Genuinely friendly, easy to talk to, and helpful without hovering. I asked a couple questions and got real answers, not some rehearsed script. You can tell they take pride in what they're selling. If you're into cooking, especially if you've got a smoker and like experimenting a bit, this place is dangerous in the best way. I came in for one thing and left with a whole game plan. Safe to say I'll be back next time we're in town.

I used to sneak in here just to buy sodas because it was close but once I had their food I was in trouble. Location is very clean, you can sit inside or out depending on weather and plenty of parking. Highly recommend !

We recently asked our friendly butchers to introduce us to something we hadn't previously tried…read morehere. I grew up rurally and had never eaten pork chops bought from a store until moving away. Same with ribs. My father, a Journeyman electrician had friends who farmed and sold their own pork. None better! Rusty Nail's pork chops, especially their porterhouse cuts, are even better than the ones I recall so fondly from my youth. Tender, perfectly marbled and flavorful like none other. They're not "grocery store" cuts. We also bought a rack of baby back ribs. My least favorite step in smoking them is removing their membrane. Not only was this (attention to detail!) step already completed, they were fall-off-the-bone highest quality. So good! Unlike when I was young these chops can be grilled to medium or medium-well if preferred, preserving their juices and maximizing flavor. These too are now on our dinner favorites rotation. Simple seasoning with salt and pepper is all that's needed, although next time we're trying their seasonings. We will continue shopping here regularly. We've referred every friend who enjoys value and great meals too--in other words we have suggested to everyone we know to give these great people (and local ownership!) a try. Without fail our friends are truly grateful.

We are really lucky to have this butcher in the area…read more Pros 1. Prime beef 2. Wide variety; everything from chicken to alligator (yep, you read that right) 3. Very helpful and friendly employees 4. The loaded and twice baked potatoes when they don't have much pepper (just a personal preference). Just reheat slowly in foil until soft and melty. Trust me. They are delicious. If you want one with less pepper just choose one with less black specks. 4. Amazing price when they have a sale. For their anniversary they had 10 pounds of prime beef (their choice) for $110! Phenomenal price and great cuts were in my mystery box. Cons 1. Save your receipts just in case you need to return something. I bought two whole chickens that ended up smelling off/bad (rare instance that this happened here). I was able to return them because I luckily still had the receipt. Wouldn't have been able to return nor exchange without the receipt.
