I ordered the BBQ Melt (Smoked pork on a king's Hawaiian bun with melted cheddar cheese & Duke's mayonnaise & smothered with caramelized onions.) Without knowing what it was, I substituted tomato pie for my fries. The food was all excellent. My sandwich was so big and loaded with pork that I couldn't eat the last fourth of it. I didn't want to be stuffed on a flying day. The pork was better than any pork I have been served in Texas. They really know how to cook it in the Carolinas. The coleslaw was rich and creamy. I really liked it. The tomato pie is a hard one to describe. The best I can do is to say that it is like the squash casserole we get in Texas, but replace the squash with fresh tomatoes. It was cheesy, gooey, and had a super great tomato taste. The service here was great. I watched as about 6 staffers were setting up for a big family group that came in after us. They worked like a finely orchestrated marching band. All I can say is this: Skip all those other chains that are along Interstate 26 and go to Green River BBQ!
