If I could give zero stars, I would. Trusting Carolina Climate Control with my AC repairs has been nothing short of an exasperating nightmare. I genuinely hope that sharing my misadventures with this company can save someone else the agony and wasted resources I've endured. From the onset, my interaction with Carolina Climate Control has been fraught with disappointment and inefficiency. They exude an aura of unprofessionalism that I naively overlooked, seduced by their slick advertising and persuasive initial conversations. Little did I know, I was about to be taken on a financial roller-coaster of unexpected twists and turns. Upon their first visit, I was presented with an eye-watering bill of over $4,000. I was taken aback, but I was assured that this was a comprehensive, "once and for all" solution. Their technician regaled me with technical jargon, assuring me that the problem was multifaceted and complex. Against my better judgment and in a desperate attempt to restore my home to a habitable temperature, I obliged. The proverbial ink hadn't even dried on the check when the AC unit sputtered its last breath not a month later. In disbelief, I contacted Carolina Climate Control, hoping this was some minor oversight. Their response was a masterclass in deflecting responsibility. However, they agreed to send someone over, albeit charging me another service fee. You'd think for four grand, a follow-up might be complimentary. Every month thereafter was like a recurring bad dream. The AC would break down, and like clockwork, Carolina Climate Control would have some new reason for its failure, each one as preposterous as the last. At one point, I half expected them to blame my houseplants for obstructing the "natural airflow" or some such nonsense. Furthermore, the lack of consistency in their staff added to the ordeal. Every visit brought with it a new technician, each with their own diagnosis and proposed (costly) solution. This lack of continuity made it abundantly clear that either their staff turnover rate is alarmingly high, or they're just sending anyone with a wrench my way. The pinnacle of my patience came when I sought the counsel of a different AC service provider. Lo and behold, the problem was a simple, inexpensive fix that Carolina Climate Control had either overlooked or conveniently ignored. To think I spent over four thousand dollars, lost countless hours in the sweltering heat, and endured the never-ending cycle of false hopes and continued disappointments. Carolina Climate Control's name is ironic; they neither control the climate in your home nor offer a controlled, professional service. I'd advise anyone considering this company to reconsider. If their service was a thermostat, it would be perpetually stuck at a boiling point. My experience wasn't just about wasted money; it was a masterclass in frustration and disillusionment. read more

I picked the company with the highest ratings for the area, but that doesn't really seem to mean much. My system is finally fixed after several visits, 19 days, almost $8k, multiple arguments to try to get them to "fix" their work. All during this time we heard we needed a new system because it's struggling to keep up or "an 8-year-old system just doesn't last as long as they used to." The first technician couldn't figure out the cause of condensation in the attic. After they replaced a portion of the duct work, when instead all the ducts were supposed be replaced, we had to call them again because the house wasn't cooling properly. Again, there technician they sent out didn't see this as a problem. They suggested and replaced a starter capacitor and cleaned the condenser fins for $900+. I assume the technician was reaching for any solution. No change, the house wasn't properly cooling. The owner of Carolina Climate Control, LLC sent me a video to "prove" there wasn't an issue with their work. After an argument with the owner of Carolina Climate Control over minimal air pressure and several gaping holes in the duct work, along with pictures of the holes, the owner of Carolina Climate Control was finally willing to send someone out. The unit was cooling the unfinished attic well, just not the rest of the house. In fact the the UNFINISHED ATTIC was the coolest room in the house. The next technician rehung much of the flexduct, patched several holes in their duct work, and resolved several other issues left over from the "duct" repair/replacement. Big improvement. It is a total waste of time to try to get a refund for the money spent on multiple misdiagnosis efforts by "trained" technicians, unnecessary work, and what I believe are certainly overcharges. I wonder how much they would have charged me for a new system. Would you want them near your house again??? Be very nice to the owner and beg if you want him to honor some unknown warranty. I've been gathering quotes in the local Charleston area for the past 6 months preparing to replace my old 3 Ton Single Package Carrier, and I was disappointed with Carolina Climate Controls quote. The quotes I gathered are as follows: Quote 1: $5,200 3 ton 14 seer Quote 2: $7,000 3 ton 14 seer Quote 3: $5,900 for Heil 3 ton 14 seer Quote 4: $5,400 for Heil 3 ton 14 seer Quote 5: $5,700 for Goodman 3 ton 14 seer Quote 6: $7,700 for Trane 3 ton 14 seer I know the general consensus is that Trane is the most reliable brand according to consumer reporting. But to me, in terms of a price comparison $7,700 for a 3 Ton 14 Seer unit is absurd. According to trane.com/residential, the installed cost for a Trane XR14c is estimated to be $3,400-$5,400 (Installation Cost includes the product price and the national average installation price. Price may vary in your area.) Furthermore, the additional project items were no different from any other quote I received. So Carolina Climate Control tacked on another $2,300 from Tranes' common average installation cost. Additionally, the representative who stopped by for the estimate provided valuable technical information but his aggressive sales tactics were apparent making it hard to distinguish between facts and hearsay. Oh and thanks for the "schedule convenience discount". When I saw this high estimate it was pretty obvious the discount was tacked on to the original price. I appreciate Carolina Climate Control provides quality services with 24 hour availability, but it is ridiculous to promote Trane as monopolized by their company within the regional area. There are other brands available compared to Trane, which prove competitive in reliability. I wish this could have worked out, but I've concluded that their company is tried to take advantage of me. read more

Our A/C stopped working suddenly. Being my first time having this problem I was nervous finding a company to help, you hear all sorts of horror stories. I looked into a few and decided on Carolina Climate Control. Their response to my request was quick and were able to schedule a service call ALOT faster than I was expecting. Our technician, Michael Fitzsimmons showed up right when they said he would. I loved that they texted me his pic and a little bio about him before he arrived, it's a nice, secure way to know who you're letting into your house. He was super nice, listened to my (overly) long explanation of what happened and got right to work. Another worry I had was they would try to oversell or make it a bigger deal to charge more. None of that. He was able to diagnose it quickly and then repaired it just as quickly. Took pics and explained everything he was doing without talking down to me. Love that they waived the diagnostic fee when I signed to repair it with them. When he was done he tested everything and stayed to make sure it was fully working. So glad I found this company and signed up for their Moose rewards program, now I won't have to stress about this again! 5 BIG stars!!! read more

Honest and ambitious. We had a home AC unit go out in early June, and Marshall and Tyler were very responsive in getting a technician out the next day. A short time and a new capacitor later, we were back in action. Then, a month later, the same thing happened. The AC unit was not working. Air was blowing through the house, but it was not cool. It happened during a short work week....just after an especially hot 4th of July weekend. So they were really really really busy answering calls from frantic people who just arrived home from work to a hot house. They didn't have any openings for 3 days, and it was forecast for 95+ degree days all week. Marshall was nice enough to walk me through a few troubleshooting tasks, which I tried with no results. Even though they were booked, they sensed our desperation and somehow made it to the house early the next morning. The kicker....a stick had fallen into the AC unit and was blocking the fan. We were a bit embarrassed, but also relieved. Thanks to CCC and don't hesitate to call them. They will do whatever it takes to get the job done right and fair. read more

It is easy to praise a company when everything goes well. It is another thing entirely when issues arise. The completely new system installed by Carolina Climate Control went in without a hitch. The system was as promised, on budget and on time. After the system was installed problems were identified and we needed to call upon Marshall Gay and Tyler Floyd for help. Despite the fact that they had been paid in full and had nothing to do with the new issues, they came to our rescue and resolved all of the issues at their sole expense. These gentlemen and this company are really "stand up" folks and we feel that we made the right decision when we hired them in the first place. I think the true measure of a company is how they react and what they do in times of stress and trouble. This company is first class all the way and I cannot thank them enough or sing their praises enough for doing a great job and then coming back in to resolve an issue not of their making. I had an amazing experience with Carolina Climate Control. Everyone is very professional, respectful and honest. From my first phone call to the install of my new unit. Carolina Climate Control helped me understand the different options and together we decided on a unit that best met the needs of my home without busting the budget. The fellas at Carolina Climate Control are all Trane Comfort Specialists and are very knowledgeable on the product. I knew I wanted a Trane unit because of its aluminum coils in both the inside and outside units which prevent against rust and corrosion from salt air. A major issue in HVAC units if you live on the coast as I do. I highly recommend Carolina Climate Control. Fantastic service and work. Completed new full HVAC system & duct work install. From the initial call, excellent communication from both Tyler and Marshall. Tyler spent lots of time on the estimate visit to make sure the estimate was thorough and complete. His professionalism and obvious care about the job gave us comfort that Carolina Climate Control would be a good choice. The install process and products were explained in great detail and all questions were answered. As for the install, Marshall (the owner of the company) was on site and did much of the work himself ,ensuring it was done right. The work was clean and done right. I saw the great reviews and decided to call Carolina Climate Control after purchasing a condo in Charleston. I called on a Monday morning with the hope of getting someone to our unit either that day or the next as I was heading back out of town. Marshall was fantastic. He fit me in his busy schedule and serviced our unit. In addition he found that whom ever had installed it failed to put in the auxiliary heating coils...which explained why it couldn't stay ahead of the bitter cold nights. Marshall immediately went out and got some for me and installed them as well. Could not have asked for better service. Excellent customer service! I emailed for their fall tune up special and received a call back within 15 minutes. They came out within 4 days and got me sorted. Ray called to confirm he was 15 minutes away and showed up exactly on time!! Being new to the area, he fully explained my heating and air conditioning systems. I felt very confident in his appraisal of the condition. He tested to make certain I had correct temperature output. Everything was a perfect working order with no issues or additional cost. I been using Carolina climate control since 2016 they are awesome and honest. Saturday night I noticed my A/C wasn't coming on I called and Ray their on call tech immediately called me back and was able to troubleshoot my system over the phone and walked me through some checks and rebooted the computer and got back up.he very easily could have said wait till tomorrow or came by and charged me a ridiculous service call but that's not how they do business and why they keep getting 5 star reviews. Fantastic service. The AC went out in my apartment over the weekend. They were quick to respond and even asked to come earlier than expected because of an opening. Marshall diagnosed, picked up the part, replaced it, and had the AC running an hour before the scheduled time! Late August and our AC goes haywire. Andrew from Carolina Climate Control arrived at my house within 30 minutes of my initial call. That's fast service. And fair too. He made a quick fix at a reasonable price. With an older unit, it was possible we would need a major replacement at a major cost. I did not know this company, but I thought they seemed very professional and provided a fair price. So I went with them for the install of our new Trane heat pump. My instincts were correct. They worked with me on the timing of the install, showed up when agreed, and performed a flawless install including replacing my heat pump stand. I've used Carolina Climate Control on several occasions. The service is always excellent. Today, I had a new package a/c unit replaced by Brad and Mike and they came one time and completed the job quickly. I appreciated that they went out of their way to protect foliage within the path of the job site. Unit is running perfectly. The CCC pricing is no better/no worse than other estimates and I believe in the quality of the Trane. I recommend them. read more
