We sat at the bar table facing Duval St and it could not have been more Key West! It was so much fun to people watch while having some drinks and apps. The drinks were small but tasty and the appetizers were delish! Conch fritters and bruschetta, YUM! The bartender tending the front bar was amazing and very attentive - I don't remember her name. It was a quick visit but definitely a great place to soak up the Key West vibe.

First impressions are worth a thousand words, as we were walking around Duval street a nice lady asked hungry? The wife and I decided to stop in and give it a shot. First recommendation I can make is to try the crazy lady beer if that's your thing, it came as a recommended beer from the waitress and I thought it was delicious. Next, the food, we ordered a Cobb and the turkey club and both were extraordinary. Given the area we thought it would a run of the mill tourist quick eats place but we were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and quality of the food.

Bartender provided amazing service. The food has gone down hill. Both my wings and my wife's fish were so overcooked. The wings were crispy all the way to the bone. The fish was so dry and hard. It wasnt busy at all. Only a few tables plus the bar. We used to love going there but we'll pass on the food next time.

We had a Cuban sandwich with a chicken Cobb salad. It was pretty good but not spectacular. The location is amazing, right on Duvall. Service was nice and ambience was casual.

**Pre hurricane 2024 season visit review. So, we were too tired to go anywhere for dinner after a day at the Dry Tortugas. We ended up ordering to-go food from here. My friend enjoyed her food for the most part. It had a little too much spice for her, but that is a personal preference. I chose a veggie quesadilla as my meal. Unfortunately, it was not good. The cheese was oozing out of my quesadilla and the pieces had ended up becoming stuck together because of it. It was also very soggy. After finally being able to separate one piece from the pile without taking too much of the tortilla shell off of another piece, that one piece was dripping like there was a lot of excess oil that they cooked it in with which was now leaking out of it. Nice setting right on Duvall Street with chickens and roosters meandering around. We popped in for a snack around 4pm to have the peel and eat shrimp. I had no idea they would be ice cold...so if you are thinking they are served hot; they are not. The cocktail sauce was very cold, like I was thinking it would be possibly frozen in the center. After the initial surprise that they were ice cold, they tasted just fine. Our server was nice. Nothing extraordinary as he even said "it had been a long day". I had been here before on another trip and we had dinner in the evening and it was much better.

Stopped in for a lunch and easily seated at a fun table overlooking Duval St. Key line mojito was BOMB. However, beer sadly was not cold which was very disappointing. Cuban sandwich was solid and fries were good. Tuna salad was delicious, however my family was unimpressed with the southwestern chicken salad. Very bland dressing with cold chunks of plain chicken. Friendly service and fun atmosphere but definitely not the best food we've had in key west!

What fun to have dinner at Caroline's! After the previous times that we have been in Key West, we vowed to come back to eat here. Everyone was always having fun there. It's a lively place and we were in the mood to have fun. It's very trendy, casual, lively, and touristy with good food and drinks. They are a Carribean restaurant fusing flavors of Key West. I have met people from all over the world in Key West on Duval Street. Caroline's is located right in the heart of Duval St. We were hungry after the driving and sightseeing earlier. Our server was Lizzy, a very nice and friendly lady. I asked about the Cajun Jambalaya dish and she said it wasn't very spicy. I cannot eat spicy food! So, of course, I ordered it upon her say-so about it not bring spicy. Holy cow, I took one bite and it almost knocked me out from the hot spiciness! We called Lizzy over and told her. She took the order off the bill but I couldn't eat anything after that. My daughter ordered the Shrimp Quesadillas and she was very happy with her dish. I took a bite of hers and it was very good. We passed on dessert and drinks. I'm sorry to say that the service was very slow. Maybe because it was busier than usual, I don't know. Just be ready to spend a little extra time there. There is only street parking and that us hard to get. We walked from our hotel. There is so much to see that you don't even notice how far you've walked. We would definitely go back to Caroline's.

Just had there famous fish sandwich it was Very good and excellent services from Brent the waiter he was awesome! Love this place and will return. My husband and I were looking for some seafood one evening in Key West when I consulted my Yelp app. Caroline's had very high ratings and was nearby so we figured what the hey? It was a good decision. We started with some conch fritters, which were just lovely. We also both got different versions of fish sandwiches with fries and neither of us were disappointed. I loved being able to dine outside on Duval on a beautiful winter evening. Our server was nice and knowledgeable, as well. I enjoyed my trip to Caroline's and would recommend it to anyone looking for some casual food on Duval! read more

I always check Yelp when looking for new places to try and I'm so glad that I picked Caroline's. The food was amazing!!!! I decided to get the Macon Bacon salad and it was soooo good! We also got dolphin fingers as an appetizer and they did not disappoint either! If I'm ever back in Key West, I will for sure be visiting them again! read more

Now that Jessica is gone I have yet to find a waiter/waitress who can live up to the customer service that she provided. They have a local discount of 10%, military discount of 20%, and if you are military and you go wearing your uniform you get 33% off your ticket. So these folks do give back to the local & military folks. I have yet to taste a dish that was bad here, and the staff seemed friendly. read more

Just OK. Service OK. Drinks OK. Menu OK. But not really living up to the 4+ stars I see in other reviews. I had Jambalaya. Was not very spicy and very much a tomato base. No roux to be seen. But OK. Great service! Best fish on the fish sandwich! Crispy not greasy. Sweet not fishy taste. Tartar sauce was best I've ever had! I almost had them hold it cause I'm not a fan of tartar but now I am! Molly was a wonderful server... even if food wasn't good ( it was great) she made it very enjoyable. Get the key west lemonade or the mango margarita for a delicious refreshing drink. The cheesesteak sandwich was the best I've had outside of Philly. If you're in key west, this is a great choice! If pigeons bother you, kick them out of the way! They stay on the floor and are skittish! Not a bother. read more

I love this place! yesterday was my second time here and it really is as good as it gets, they are definitely not a tourist trap, very fair with their prices, great customer service, delicious food, and it is right on Duval which is perfect for people watching, we were lucky enough to get a table right by the street and had front row seats to see all the drunks tipping over coming out of fat Tuesdays, It was great!!! Their shrimp po boy and the Tuna salad were delicious! and The key lime pie is a must!! Definitely check this place out!! read more

I loved our waitress. She was really nice, but the entire place smells Lomé garbage. We didn't order food and this was the primary reason. I could not get the garbage smell out of my nose. There is always a buzz here though...so if you are looking for some a good place to do some people watching...this is one of them read more

Our waiter was to say the least, a smart ass. He was snippy from the getgo. The tip we left in two tips was overall 15% one bill was $100 which left 10%. The other $100 was tipped at 20%. He walked back to outlet table and asked what was the deal. To be honest it should have been zero based on his arrogant and smug attitude. Never again will we be back. read more

The restaurant was very busy but we were seated quickly. The staff is very friendly & was great with my 1 year old! They are extremely child friendly! They have bead necklaces on the wall for children & my daughter wasn't interested in them at all at first, but LOVED them! They also have crayons and a coloring page menu! The jambalaya wasn't as spicy as I would've preferred, but it good. My daughter loved her grilled cheese. My husband's burger lacked seasoning. When in Key West it is a must lunch stop. We stopped in after our morning flight out to Dry Tortugas National Park. Burgers (thick and juicy) and Cuban Mix (pulled pork, ham and bacon) sandwiches were great - four thumbs up from the guys! Fun atmosphere with a table by the street for a little people watching and then you can enjoy seeing the non-paying customers - a rooster and chicken wandering around between the tables. Amidst the touristy hustle and bustle across from the legendary Fat Tuesdays is Carolines, an outdoor restaurant and bar on Duval. I decided to check this place out mostly because a lot of the other restaurants were much busier and this seemed like less of a wait. Tried the Macon Bacon salad (see pic). Big, hearty chunks of fried chicken bites with crispy bacon crisps and a unique crunch of pecans w/ corn served with ranch dressing. It was a large, filling entree salad. Also got the Southwest Chicken salad which had grilled chicken with tortilla strips. Service was quick and responsive. Recommended. read more

So pleasantly surprised with this place!! We found it on a whim after our original choice was pricier than we were looking for. we stumbled into Caroline's and got a bunch of appetizers to share. Everything is your normal fried choices, but we also got the tuna and then got it again it was so good! Our waitress was also really nice and suggested a few other bars for us to try. It's also nice because it's outside seating and you can hear the music playing from next door and across the street. read more

First place since we have been in the Key West that I actually enjoyed my food! I got the Cuban which had bacon on it, and I found this to be an awesome spin. My fiancée got the fish sandwich which was hand breaded and fresh. The portions are so huge that we could have even split one sandwich! The service was prompt and all of the staff were very friendly. Went here last night with my wife just to grab a nibble and a drink at the bar. Great place to people watch as people walk down Duval. The fried shrimp appetizer was very good. The drinks were good and priced surprisingly fairly for such a tourist area. The highlight for me was actually watching Bethany the bartender at work. The number of good bartenders these days seems to be diminishing rapidly. I travel a ton so I experience bars and restaurants all over. Bethany was on point all night. Never stopped hustling, and was always making sure all her clients were taken care of. Impeccable service for a pretty basic little place. Great work management and Bethany. read more

Great spot right in all the action on Duvall Street. Our server was super nice, food was pretty good. I had the cheesesteak, friend had a burger & another friend got the pork bowl which she loved! The cheesesteak was decent. The meat was a little fatty but not bad. The bun was a little over done & hard to chew. The pork bowl looked awesome, huge - definitely shareable. read more

Walked up to wait in line telling the hostess we would take the first available (bar, patio, anywhere)... After about 20 minutes we saw a couple walk right in and go straight to the bar. My mom walked up and asked the hostess why that was allowed and the hostess told her that "she must not have been paying attention." My mom went on to question that and the hostess just called my mom a "bitch" and told her to go elsewhere so that's unfortunate. We're local and will not be returning. read more

I don't know what the hype is all about. When we went it was dinner time, pretty busy. The price for the meals were very reasonable but with that came the subpar entrees that were equivalent to cafeteria food at my workplace. Not good, but not too bad. I ordered ahi tuna and fresh catch of the day- which was mahi mahi with rice and broccoli. Husband ordered fish sandwich which is a safe choice - go with that if you're at Caroline's. The ahi tuna was good except that they covered it with so much sesame seeds. It was nonetheless worth getting. The mahi mahi did not taste like it was the "fresh catch of the day". I don't know if that's how they cooked it or it was just not good fish. It was very dry and tough. So was the rice- very dry and not seasoned with anything. Key lime margarita- meh.. but for $8 I'll take it. read more

Established in 1999.

Caroline's Cafe, named after Caroline Street, was the owners' first restaurant on Duval Street. Caroline's provides hearty Caribbean fusion food in a laid-back atmosphere with Key West style. Beyond their routine of care and presence, they helped a customer who took a hard fall outside the cafe. Customers helped, too, but the waitstaff showed up with compassion, concern, ice and bandages. I'm sorry someone trip and fell hard, but it was wonderful to watch the care for this person and their friends. I really can't say enough about how outstanding of an experience it was to dine at Caroline's. My fiancée and I were in Key West for a wedding and vacation in mid-March, and dining in the state of Florida has been a challenge with her having both a gluten and latex allergy. That being said, Robert the GM came over to our table and helped talk her through what on the menu she could eat, breaking down how the kitchen staff prepares certain menu items. Brooke, another manager who also happens to have a latex allergy, joined us and helped my fiancée with her ordering. Both were extremely warm and gracious and went above and beyond to make it such a fantastic dining experience. She did proclaim that her burger was among the best that she has ever had, while I thoroughly enjoyed the flavorful and perfectly cooked Caribbean steak. We will absolutely be returning to Caroline's next time we are in Key West. read more

We got here at about 8PM and is was packed! For as busy as they were we were ok with the service being a little slower and our server was very sweet and busy in her butt! The Food was Absolutely wonderful! The bruschetta could marinate a little longer and have a little more herbs and spices but the Famous fish sandwich and the chicken brockolini dish were absolutely amazing! The outdoor seating and ambiance are fantastic it being right on Duval is a bonus. We will certainly be coming back on our next trip! I would have given 7 stars if I could have and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal! The privies were very reasonable to compared to other Duval restaurants and the portion sizes! My husband and I live in KW several months of the year and have a place across from Smathers. As a pseudo local.... or freshwater conch, Carolines is my favorite restaurant! I love sitting up at the little bar by the street and people watching while eating the best fish sandwich or burger on the island! They have a favorite salad of mine too so there's always something that satisfies! The beer is cold, the service great, the prices reasonable and the food delicious! I stopped by Caroline's Café during my trip to Key West and ordered the shrimp po' boy--and wow, it did not disappoint! The shrimp were perfectly crispy and seasoned just right, tucked into a soft baguette with fresh lettuce, tomato, and a zesty remoulade that pulled it all together. Super flavorful and satisfying. The service was fast and friendly, and the laid-back outdoor seating gave it that perfect Key West vibe.
