a plate of food on a table with a waterfall in the background

Incredible! Tucked away, with a beautiful waterfall and quaint seating, Carol's is a hidden gem! The food is so reasonable and absolutely delicious. Went for Essa-Bagel and the line was too long. Walked a half a block and got better food for cheaper! Absolutely will be coming here again.

Waterfall on the back wall of the park.

Unexpected gem in a park-like setting. The only thing visible from the street is the sandwich board. the food was good quality, amazing because it was produced in a space the size of a walk-in closet

Awesome little spot in the city. Little window serving up big flavors. We went in the pouring rain and still had a great time. It's a little slow serving but totally a cool experience. I recommend it in a nice day.

    Restaurant

Location was wonderful. The guy behind the register just ignored me for 20 minutes while getting other orders ready. I was the only one in line. He didn't even say that I will be with you in a minute. He could have easily wrote my order down...so that I could sit with my wife and enjoy the scenery while waiting. When I finally got my order...it was missing 1 of the 2 sausages and I got no toast that it was supposed to come with. No napkins, ketchup or syrup were given to me. This guy pissed me off first thing in the morning. I expected faster and better service from a New Yorker. Coffee was great. Meal was less than average.

Great breakfast, service and location. It's a magical place. We had pancakes and scrambled eggs.

an omelet with bacon and cheese

Stop by to get a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant once i received it i opened the sandwich to my surprise there was only 1 piece of bacon in my sandwich... i then proceeded to go back to her to ask if the sandwich only comes with 1 piece of bacon and she looked me in my face and said yes. I repeated the question in case she didn't hear me the first time and she made it clear that it comes with 1 piece. For a $8 sandwich this is a rip off and waste of money. Do not recommend

Large portions. We all had bagel sandwiches for a late breakfast. Pretty loud though inside due to the hard surfaces.

Great fresh smoothies and HUGE croissant sandwiches. The park setting by the waterfall feels like a tropical setting in midtown.

BUT, my husband and I recently took a trip to Paris and I also love pain aux raisins. To our delight, Cafe Bilboquet has those too, so my friend and I each had a small coffee and a pain aux raisins. The pastry was as good as any that my husband and I had in Paris! I've also had lunch here with a couple of other friends in recent months. They have a good variety of pretty authentic French sandwiches and some quiches, eggs, etc. Not inexpensive, but the food is top-notch. You order at the counter, then move up to the cashier, tell them what your order is and pay for it. If you're lucky, as we were around 9:45 this morning, you'll get one of the little round tables where you can sit and chat and relax; in good weather there are some tables outside as well; a lovely boulangerie or patisserie experience!

Upon getting closer to the door, I learned it's part of Le Bilboquet restaurant on the same block. It wasn't too crowded when I visited on a Tuesday mid-afternoon. Every table except 1 was full, but most people were heading outside on such a beautiful day with their drinks and pastries. The cafe is very cute and French. They have so many pastries I couldn't decide, so I ordered a pain au chocolat and tea. They serve Harney & Sons teas. This is a lovely spot, and I'll return to try more.
