We showed up on July 4th, after taking a Sunday drive along the melting roads of Kentucky. We stopped here to take pictures of the ferry and the historic homes, and settled on Carota's pizza for dinner, with just about everyone else at the same time. There was one last table open once we arrived and that was quickly taken. While there was a wait for service, once our order was taken, that wait whittled down quickly. The kitchen knows how to knock orders out. They got everyone's orders out to them quickly and in order they went in. When ours came out, A pepperoni pizza, we thought the cut was strange, but the pizza was tasty. A bit saucier than I normally get, but that sauce was good! Pizza is good, Hoagies good, service is 50-50, workers sometimes act like your bothering them to be there, eating inside is a nightmare unless your the only one's there, service is so slow it's probably the worst I've seen anywhere. There menu appears to be a copy of Larosa's in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Baked Carota is similar to the Buddy and so on, prices are a bit high, but so is Larosa's. Food overall is very good, just don't eat inside if you can avoid it. read more

Located downtown Augusta, Kentucky across from the Augusta Irish Pub. Carota's Pizza sells Pizza, subs, hoagies, salads, ice cream, domestic beers, etc. My husband and I were looking for a place to get a light bite before we head to the Baker-Bird Winery. This small restaurant stood out and wanted to try it. The restaurant was pretty clean and decorated vintage (old coke signs and pictures). Very nice. The Hostess seats you and we were really impressed by the menu selection and pricing. Pretty cheap. I got the small fried chicken salad for $5.99 (includes iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onion, lance crackers and your choice of dressing. I got ranch). My husband got a side salad for $3.29 and small 7" pizza (original crust) for $4.39 (plain cheese). We got our salads first and I was not too impressed with a huge plate with little iceberg lettuce. The chicken tasted from a box. I'm not really picky, but that's how I would describe my meal. You get what you pay for. My husband's pizza came out 10 minutes later. It was hot, but crust was alittle doughy. The sauce lacked taste, needed some seasoning. Our server was friendly, but did not ask if we needed a refill on waters. I had to walk up to the register and asked for one. Bathrooms clean and plenty of parking. I really wanted to like this place, but it was okay. read more

This place has went so far down hill. It's a joke. I called this evening to place and order I was told over the phone that I could not use my card to pay. . Fine, whatever mom was still at school so I asked her to pick it up for me. She pays $35 cash for our food. When she gets home she wasn't given half of what we ordered . I call back up demanding a refund from the CASH my mother paid with and I get told they cannot refund me my money....what! . I open the pizza we did get and it looks like this photo. Ridiculous. I drive up and apparently some was called with sense because I was refunded for the items I didn't get. My evening wasted, no dinner. We will NEVER be eating food from this place again. I ordered a meat topper pizza to have on hand later in the night this past Saturday. Picked up the pizza shortly before close but didn't open the box until later. When I opened it, we had the wrong pizza - something with ranch sauce and veggies on top; definitely not a meat topper. I called the restaurant on Sunday when they opened to let them know so they could make it right. I was basically called a liar because nobody called to complain they got a meat topper instead of a ranch pizza and Sherry, I think was her name, would not replace the pizza I got for the pizza I ordered and paid for. Buyer beware here - if you order something to go, check your order before you leave because if you call later, Carota's will brand you a liar and will not make it right. It's a shame this is the only pizza joint in town. read more

Went on Memorial Day . Since it was holiday Only few places were open in town so we decided to try Carota's Pizza . I would say Nice little place across Ohio river with great food. Their speciality is pizzas but I ordered grilled chicken burger with onion rings . It was freshly made and reasonably priced . After eating I thought I should have tried their pizzas . First of all, the The food was excellent. The hoagies, the pizza, and the spaghetti were very good. The reason why we gave three stars was an issue with the service. they brought most of our food to the table. However they forgot my pizza. Unfortunately instead of saying we had a big party ahead of you, or we forgot your pizza, or anything like that they let us sit for an additional 35 to 40 minutes. We had asked several times to get a pizza. Then when someone agreed to comp our pizza, the manager said that this was not the case and wanted to discount our pizza rather than take it off the bill. This was a pizza that took over an hour to get in the first place. Then it took a while to get someone to give us our bill. They finally agreed to comp the pizza but the manager was nasty and got angry with my wife. The process to comp the pizza took another 20 minutes. During that time a number of people waiting for their carry out order and waiting to be seated had stacked up while the manager decided to argue about a $10 pizza. We know that they were busy due to the regatta. However if someone would've just come to our table and said that our pizza was going to be late or we forgot to put it in which we believe it happened, we would've been fine. But it was like no one wanted to even talk to us after the mistake was found out. We would eat there again as a carry out but I don't think I would dining. I guess to has several other places that are very nice to eat as well. Again, if you make a mistake on an order, please be upfront with the customer and let them know. We ended up not tipping as well which is very unusual for us. This was just a bad dining experience and it was really sad since their food is very good. read more

In the small town of Augusta there are not very many restaurants. Carota's is definitely one of the best places to go and not spend a ton of money. The vintage decorations are cute. I think it's really funny that it is decorated with vintage coca-cola signs, but they serve Pepsi products. It's a small pizzeria that also has outdoor seating. Don't expect to get much service besides ordering your food and getting one refill. The server is probably making your food as well. Their pizza is really good, as well has the hoagies. I like the chicken parmesan the best. After dinner they have an ice cream shop in the back. It is a good place to go if you have been boating on the river all day. Augusta has their own docks and Carota's is walking distance. read more

We just bought two ice cream cones here and although the ice cream tasted decent, the cones were very small and the price was very high. Also, they must have gone to school to learn how to serve ice cream cones that are hollow. The ice cream was poured so the middle was hollow. And the entire cone itself also had no ice cream in it. The ice cream started at the very top of the cone and made a small hollow pyramid. Disappointing for the $6.38 we spent. Would have been five stars if the cones were one dollar each, which would have been a more realistic price for the quantity you received. read more

Came in the other day as my family has for many years, food is great but the customer service is horrible & being a family restaurant I will not have my kids have to listen to the sexual talk the worker was saying she was going to do to someone. Happen to ask one of the other young ladies working her name as we was leaving. happen to be summer & they said she hasn't been with the company a long time as we have never seen her before. We go to car to leave the young lady white & black older males was in the parking lot smoke marijuana and acting like a hooligan. I will no longer eat there with my family as long as he's employed there in the many years we came we have never encountered something like this here and My young children will not be exposed to this at a Family restaurant that we enjoy eating at and spend money at. Im not sure what has happened but we have always had great service. We absolutely loved when Katie work here but this new girl has ran us off and I'm sure many more to come with her actions & they way she speaks in don't of customers and young children. read more
