Despite the throng of sugar craving customers, four of us were able to maneuver in to inspect the butter toffee cashews and almonds prepackaged in half pound bags for $7.50. We got one of each and they are highly addicting. They didn't last a week at home! We also purchased two caramel apples with peanuts for $3.99 each. The rocky road caramel apple is rolled around in marshmallows after the initial caramel dipping and then thickly drizzled with milk and dark chocolate. Oh so goooood and so bad for me! Also heavy on the wallet for ~$6 but worth it, at least the first time. I refrigerate the apples and then slice them to share. The caramel isn't as sticky when you slice them cold. read more

I definitely wouldn't recommend getting food from here because the staff doesn't know how to properly serve food. I stopped by to get a candy apple when a young woman asked me if I needed help. Before getting help I saw the same woman eating hot Cheetos with her gloved hand and then wiping the Cheeto dust on her jeans right before grabbing the entire candy apple. I told her if she could change her glove and give me different apple, so she proceeded to change gloves and get a new apple. What a cute little shop on the wharf. The pink building drew me in for sure. Everything a candy shop should be. From the taffy being stretched in the window to the smells of Carmel corn wafting out the open doors. Speaking of Carmel corn, The Carmel popcorn at this place is the BOMB! The best I have ever had. Large fluffy kernels covered in sweet buttery Carmel. We got the small box. We opted to leave the box open and they stuffed it to the brim. Now my only problem is that it is so good that nothing else will compare and this place is far away from our home in Washington. We tried the toffee almonds and cashews but they didn't have much flavor. Cashews were better than the almonds but still not worth buying in my opinion. This place is super cute. They had 3 worker's. One man making popcorn, 1 women stocking and 1 women behind the counter. We waited for 15 minutes with noone in the store to order. It seems the customer service trend is something that is kind of recent. I popped in on my trip to Monterey because I was lured in by the delicious looking apples in the window. While inside it took a long while (over 5 minutes) for someone to recognize me and ask if I needed help. They were busy doing stock, or chatting amongst themselves. When I did get served I asked for some of their divinity, "With or without nuts" the girl asked in such a bored way. I got without. Then I picked up another type. "You do know if you buy 2, you get a third free, right?" No, how would I know this, you've not spoken much to me.... so I picked out a third. I'm kind of sad I did, because when I did try these at home, they were either too sweet or just not that good, after a bite they went into the trash. I got myself a White chocolate covered strawberry and that was very tasty. We came here while we waited for a table at the old fisherman's grotto. We purchased some assorted gummy candy. They had a wide selection and of what we got they are fresh and chewy. I hate when the gummy candy are hard. I usually want my money back but its pretty impossible. After one of the service people at the restaurant told us they are known for their salt water taffy we went over and bought a small bag for $4.50. It comes with about 25? taffys (assorted). I think you can make your own bag of your desired flavors if you want. We saw all the different flavors organized into little plastic bins behind the cash register. Overall, everything looks tasty but I am not a huge sweets person so I didn't go nuts but I can see how people who. Its like a fat kid's heaven. It is a bit pricy and we didn't really get any service so I can't comment on that part. So far we've eaten two taffys. I got a mint one and it wasn't very good. I don't think mint should be anything besides a mint or gum. My boyfriend tried a violet colored one and he says its good. It has good texture, soft and chewy. Undeniably the best and freshest Taffy this candy store makes. I know they have been iconic for many years and this is what makes them stand out. They use the best ingredients ( just stand there and watch the Taffy be made) which is a showstopper for me. It is never hard and dried out, it is soft and fresh.
