Carousel is hands down the best Mediterranean spot. I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Their arayes are a must -- it's basically like a lahmajun with two pieces pressed together, and it's insanely good. I usually go all in and order the tabbouleh, babaganoush, a pound of lula kebab, and shish kebab. Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Not an everyday order, but when you're in the mood for it, it hits. If you dine in, the indoor decor is super nice and really gives that authentic Mediterranean vibe. They also play a lot of 90s music, which somehow fits perfectly and adds to the whole experience. I've dined in plenty of times and the service is always solid -- staff is friendly and attentive. Just a heads up, food can take a little longer sometimes, but that's because they're always busy and everything is made fresh, so it's worth the wait. I've also done takeout here more times than I can count -- probably over 100 orders at this point -- which says everything. This is easily one of my go-to spots and I keep coming back for a reason. read more

The food was okay, nothing extraordinary, but decent. Unfortunately, the service was, without exaggeration, one of the worst I've ever experienced in my life. From the moment we arrived, the vibe felt off. The host who seated us (who later turned out to also be a server) left us at the table, and no one approached us for about 10 minutes. When a server finally came over, the first thing she said was "Ready? Ready?", no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We were never brought water. I had to ask a busser for it because the server walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us, and chose to ignore us. The food runner was also rude, he dropped the plates on the table without saying a single word. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked on us. No "How is everything?" No "Do you need anything?" Nothing at all. Meanwhile, we noticed that nearby tables were being greeted, checked on, and treated kindly. When we asked for the check, the server literally threw it on the table without saying a word. The experience was so bad that we decided not to leave a tip; Something we never do, especially since we truly value good service and I personally work in the restaurant industry. I don't know if the treatment had anything to do with how we looked or how we were dressed, but I've never felt so ignored and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. I've been enjoying this restaurant for many years and always like to pop in occasionally for an item or two. While I usually enjoy the chicken sandwich toasted, today I decided to try the chicken Shawarma plate. It came with a nice side of hummus, garlic spread, tahini, and a few other tidbits to layer your flavors. The people here are always very friendly, although they did miss one of the items on my over the phone order, even though when they read it back to me all my items were there... I really like the carnival vibe on the exterior of the building and you will be surprised that the interior of the restaurant is nicer than you would expect. The location is a little out of the way and the parking lot always seems too full, but this is a great place to check out if you've never been here, highly recommend the chicken wrap sandwich, make sure you get it toasted! read more

The people, maitre d, wait staff all astoundingly excellent. Not to mention the menu. My favorite is the filet mignon kebab. Quality has not changed! Still tender and mouthwateringly good. In other restaurants, meat quality has deteriorated. Parking space is at a minimum, though, because it shares a lot with several other businesses. They were on time, the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful, and everything was packaged perfectly to simply remove tops/lids and serve. We go whenever we see each other since we don't live near each other anymore and it always hits. the beef tartar for sure is what hooked me! you have to get the carousel feast. it might seem intimidating but trust me you will be in heaven. and you also will have lunch for the day after which sweetens the deal even more! the servers are all really nice and attentive and always refill your water glasses. this is by no means a hole in the way but the way the ambiance is so calm and relaxing while enjoying good food just puts you an in amazing mood. every single thing is good here so don't be afraid to try! read more

Had a great lunch at Carousel yesterday. Our party of six ordered a lot of food including: grape leaves, muhamarra, cabbage salad, borek, moussaka, fattoush salad, chicken kabob, and lamb kabob. Aside from the lamb being dry everything was absolutely delicious. Service is nice enough and food came out quickly. Ambiance is nothing special but nice enough. Prices are pretty good! I've been to both carousels the one in Glendale. I found to be a little bit more boisterous and overwhelming than the one in Hollywood that was smaller and had a calmer vibe. Both places food are delicious particular stand out for me is the eggplant and all of the little dips to go along with the main dishes. This serves as a review for every single one of many visits. LA is lucky to have lots of wonderful mediterranean restaurants and after great consideration, I have to give Carousel my #1 spot. Every time I eat here, it feels like a special experience. Most recently I came with a group of 10 people and we did the family style, which is a great way to try lots of the wonderful dishes they have. We were vocalizing our pleasure the whole way through. Some favorites include the labneh and steak tartar! Another time I came with my mom who is on the picky side, but we both had salads and juicy savory grilled chicken. The service is always so warm and patient and welcoming. The prices are fair and when you leave you'll be thinking about when you'll be back. Leaving 2 Stars because the food was good. The service was terrible. We have two picky eaters, we asked if we could order just kebabs with rice. The waiter said they didn't do à la carte, no problem, we said just bring everything we will take it home. I also ordered Kebab, only asked for no pita bread. They NEVER brought the cabbage salad nor the tomatoes the plate comes with. So, pretty much à la carte like they said they didn't do, but charged us full price. I like to order one of the "Feasts" so that my guests and I can share a hugh variefty of Middle Eastern delights, beautifully prepared and presented. It is down right exciting when, periodically during your dining experience, waiters approach your table laden with ever more traditional dishes until you begin to wonder if the table is magic (They gladly provide containers so that you can bring home your excess). The spacious dining area accommodates one to at least 8 guests per party. Their lentil soup isn't included in the lavish feasts, but after a hard day, I sometimes stop by for a bowl of lentil soup, and I am renewed! read more

Was in Little Armenia in East Hollywood and after hearing so many good things about this restaurant I am here to tell you, it's all true! Restaurant is located in a little strip mall on Hollywood Blvd. My hubby and I shared the appetizer platter for two, and it was delicious. The sarna was so flavorful, tabbuleh had a little more vinegar than I would have liked, although it was good, the muhammara was just right with so much zest, and the mutabbal and hammos spot on. Even the pita was tasty. And the portion size, plenty. Just love sampling foods from other cultures and this combo platter was so much fun. We also shared a chicken shawarma plate and a fool Mudammas. Their Armenian coffee was flavorful and robust. We both rolled out of there stuffed and happy. We were a group of 8 including 2 young kids visiting LA for a few days and needed a spot with decent vegetarian options as well. We had originally made reservations for 530 but due to traffic and delays we had to keep pushing the reservation and ended up with 8pm. The staff were super accommodating with our requests on a Saturday night. Our server was fantastic. They have a huge menu and she gave us several suggestions on how we could order and offered to let us know if she felt like we had ordered too much or too little. Everyone ended up getting their own entrees and shared a couple mezzes as well. There was so much food and everything was very delicious. The most popular item was definitely the chicken shawarma. The eggplant mezze and roasted red pepper mezze were also hits. We witnessed a fun birthday sparkler celebration where the lights were dimmed and everyone sang happy birthday. The chi kufteh or kibbeh nayyeh is delicious and the fatoush is just like homemade. I have to be honest that's the extent of what I purchase for order because if you order the family pack you'll be eating for a week, there's so much food! That's delicious too though.
