We came on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty busy, a lot of foot traffic from the younger crowd. Very loud club reaggaton music playing in the cafe. **Coffee art isn't free. About a $5 charge. You can get coffee art for any hot or cold coffee drinks. Except Matcha! And they can only use Non-fat, whole, and soy for the coffee art. 1. Download the "Ripples App" or scan their QR Code with the cashier, 2. choose your design, 3. show your designated number to the cashier.** Orders: -Iced Chai "Stay Beautiful" (small size)= $9.50 -Iced Americano "Custom" (large size)= $10~12, can't remember the exact price. The Chai was really good. It has a refreshing, potent Chai/ Horchata-Cinamonny flavoring. Americano is pretty strong black coffee and what we needed. The downside is that the coffee art, within 3-5 minutes, can start to blur but understandable, it's foam. The additional price for the coffee art makes it hard to justify coming back again unfortunately. If it was a $1-2 extra charge for the art, we can deal because the art is so cute and I think most people come for that. I won't call myself an egg sandwich connoisseur but perhaps an aficionado. And without a doubt, I had the best egg, cheese croissant breakfast sandwich of my life at Carrera Cafe. The croissant was buttery and flaky, perfectly toasted. The eggs perfectly cooked and folded omelet style, with cheddar cheese, pesto and avocado. It was simply sublime. My vanilla latte was hot and perfectly made, and I grabbed a fresh canelé pastry for the road, which tasted as if it was made in a French patisserie. I'll be visiting Carrera Cafe again soon. This place was so cute! They had a ton of space inside and a really nice outdoor area situated right across the street from Paul Smith's pink wall. They have a selection of images/phrases to choose from or you can upload your own as well. They have seasonal drinks, which I didn't get a chance to try out, but definitely will next time. Came here for a mid-day drink and it was pretty empty - the staff were pretty kind and friendly nonetheless though and it was pretty quick to get our drinks. I got a matcha latte and while it looked nice and had a good amount of liquid, it literally just only tasted like milk. It tasted specifically like whole milk and it was probably due to the lack of matcha - it was a light green, but the matcha taste was so subtle that it basically didn't exist. I enjoyed the aesthetic of the cafe and the overall ambiance, but the drink really wasn't all that great. I would be willing to try one of their pastries probably and another drink, but their matcha drink was really difficult to drink and was not worth the price. I'd suggest anything but that - their coffee seemed more than fine, honestly. read more

Cute coffee shop just across the Pink Wall so that was visiting two spots in one go for this LA tourista back in July (haha i know, very late review). It was one hot day so most of the guests were indoors but luckily the outdoors seating wasnt really bad. Umbrellas were big enough that a group of 6 all had nice shade. We enjoyed our coffees and despite the hot weather, we ordered hot lattes haha saw they make cute latte arts and so we had to go for it. Was worth it! The wall art also caught my attention when this place made it to my "places-to-visit" list. I saw flower painting before but when we went it was a Chanel one so i guess it changes often. Very disappointed. With the look of the place I had high expectations. SERVICE: atrocious. And I mean from the time we walked in- no one greeted us. When it was our turn to order the guy taking the order was snarky and extremely rude. I remember he asked if it was for here or to go and I looked over my partner and I whispered honestly I'm not sure if I even want to stay now. I knew she had been so excited to try this place and that we had a come on a Saturday recently, it was closed due to a private event and she had really been looking forward to it so I sucked it up and stayed. Esthetic: place was nice, lots of light. Minimalistic which was appealing. Food: food was good. One of my eggs was raw.. very raw.. I waited to say anything bc the cashier guy has been so rude.. when the new eggs were brought out a long time later, they were sitting on a bed of old lettuce and one of them had a piece of hair on it. Overall food was good, good coffee, but service overshadowed it for sure. We really wanted to make this our new Cafe, so I can enjoy my black coffee while I knit a bit.. and she watched the sports highlights. A quiet and cute café right on Melrose. You should check out this place at least once on your visit to LA. I found this place coincidentally on Instagram as a popular spot to go to. They are mostly known for their foam printed design drinks. You can download the Ripple app, upload or pick a preset photo, and give your order to the barista. They have tons of preset images already in their system. You can order a city design, the face of a famous celebrity, your favorite baseball team, anything you want. You can also upload your own personal image as well. As you can see from my photo, I decided to upload an Instagram photo which came out nicely. On the other side they serve mostly sandwiches and salads. You can pick out a couple good selections and enjoy your meal inside or outside. I ordered a turkey sandwich and it was delicious. I know a lot of people enjoy the interior design of the café. The entire café is very bright and photogenic. Right across the street is the famous pink wall by Paul Smith. When you need a break from whatever you're doing, you can people watch all the ridiculous tourists across the street taking pictures literally with a plain pink wall? Apparently it's a thing. Very disappointing experience. My daughter is a huge Harry Styles fan, so we drove 3 hours in traffic from San Diego, stood in the boring line in the hot sun for two hours before being allowed to enter the store to get the coffee they advertised for the Harry Styles event. By the time we got up to entrance they had run out of the special sleeves for the cups but we could still get the picture stamped on the foam of the coffee. So we waited another 45 minutes in the line in the store. We paid the $20 for the two cups of the worst coffee ever that we ended up throwing away because it was awful. All of the above would have not mattered if we got what we came for. They told my daughter to choose two pictures. They said they would work well. After waiting yet another 45 minutes to get what we had paid for, we were presented with a pink blob on the one cup and a pink and white shadow of Harry on the other. Certainly not a nice picture of Harry that my daughter was hoping for. We asked if they could redo it. We were told we chose too dark of a picture and too bad for us. Nice of them to tell us when we placed the order and have us choose a different one. So thanks Carerra Cafe for the waste of time, the waste of money, the worst coffee ever and most of all for upsetting and disappointing my daughter. Cute cafe. White aesthetic with some seating on the inside and it has a few tables outside where you can look at the famous pink wall across the street. I came here for the custom latte where you can submit your picture and it becomes latte art. I did a picture of my daughter. The concept was very cute! My latte however wasn't the best tasting. The latte was only worth it for having that image of choice on it. This coffee place is definitely on the pricier side as well probably because of the customization. And cheaper than a certain name-brand chain. Plus way more fun with the ability to design. If you don't want to upload a pic there are also fun designs they have to choose from. I am a new customer, though I will never order from here again. I ordered breakfast from here through Uber Eats. They're having a Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal through the end of December. I ordered a 12 oz Turmeric Latte (sweetened with honey) and an egg sandwich with grilled salmon and avocado as add-ons. As you can see from the photos, the egg sandwich is B1G1. Upon placing the order, I realized they'd charge me for the add-ons for BOTH sandwiches, even though 1 is supposed to be free. So instead of paying an additional $9 for the salmon & avocado, they charge you $18 for both sandwiches. This isn't Buy 1 Get 1 Free, so instead of ordering 2 sandwiches I ordered 1 with a note saying I still wanted my free sandwich, but without the add-ons, just still in a lettuce wrap (which is not extra). Not only did they not honor the deal they're promoting, the gave me a half full latte! And it was not sweetened with honey. Clearly, these people are cheap and have questionable business practices. Honestly, the food is mid- absolutely NO seasoning. I paid nearly $40 for bland food and a half full drink. Spend your money elsewhere. You've been warned! Update: Apparently, the owner's reading comprehension isn't that great. If you look at the photos attached for reference, you'll see the Egg Sandwich is clearly listed as Buy 1 Get 1 Free. I'm not going back and forth with someone who'd rather gaslight their customers instead of taking accountability for the poor service provided by their establishment. I love lattes since forever! A latte with my face on it! Whaat! Yes please! Love the decor of this place. Everything is a photo opp here. Merch available too. Outside the walls are photo opps and believe me there were tons of Asian tourists doing crazy photo shoots all around. The latte was amazing as well as the secret egg sandwich and fruity pebbles donut. The waffle cup was also a sugar fest for my cousin that enjoyed it. Will always come back when were in the area. Cute café with delicious food and drinks. I ordered the Cinnamon Nutella Donut and I loved it! It was a cross between a croissant and donut with cinnamon and sugar coating the outside. Between the layers of the cronut and on top, was silky smooth Nutella. You got a blast of the hazelnut flavor with every bite, followed by the sweet crunch of the cinnamon sugar. It was light and fluffy, freshly made that morning. I think it would have been even better if I heated it up a little bit to make the inside warm and melted. They had a few other delicious sounding donut flavors and croissants too that I'd like to try, along with breakfast sandwiches and toast. Not too expensive either for the great quality. This is a great spot for an influencer or someone who loves taking pictures and cute aesthetics. They have some food and snack options lol as well, but mainly the concept rely on the coffee prints. I came here for the first time because I wanted to see the coffee sleeves, latte toppers, and mural for Disney+ The Muppets Mayhem. I had no expectations on the food or coffee when coming here but I have to admit everything is delicious. The first time I came was on a Saturday in the afternoon, I ordered one of the sandwiches and a vanilla iced latte, both tasted great! I came back the next day in the morning and ordered the egg breakfast sandwich and a mocha iced latte, again everything tasted great. We were able to find seating inside for breakfast, however there is also plenty of seating outside. It's a great location and very Instagrammable. They do have free WiFi, making it a great spot to do some work or just relax and read a book. The baristas were very friendly and quick with our order, no complaints. This is such a fun place for a cup of coffee. Cute shop in an interesting part of town. They even have a little gift section for LA souvenirs. What I really liked was that you could have one of your photos "printed" in the foam on your coffee/tea! Loved it! I couldn't figure out how to do it before arriving so let me explain a little. There is an app you need to get, "Ripples." When you open the app, it will search for the nearest place that uses this coffee art. You can upload your picture(s) in advance so that when you are at the store, all you have to do is select one that is ready to go. You can add text to your photos, too. Or you can also just take a selfie on the spot. I'm writing this from a different area and the only way I could find my album was to add a new photo to "save for later." It then shows me all the photos in the Ripples album. Maybe you can access album directly when you are in range? When you "order" the photo you'd like to use, you get a number that you show the cashier when you order your drink. For 2 medium hot mochas, with the coffee art included, it was around $11ish. So it really wasn't much extra for the pictures. I had a close-up of an owl's face that I chose for my coffee art. I'd love to go back with unsuspecting friends and treat them to a nice surprise! read more
