I came here for the first time because I wanted to see the coffee sleeves, latte toppers, and mural for Disney+ The Muppets Mayhem. I had no expectations on the food or coffee when coming here but I have to admit everything is delicious. The first time I came was on a Saturday in the afternoon, I ordered one of the sandwiches and a vanilla iced latte, both tasted great! I came back the next day in the morning and ordered the egg breakfast sandwich and a mocha iced latte, again everything tasted great. We were able to find seating inside for breakfast, however there is also plenty of seating outside. It's a great location and very Instagrammable. They do have free WiFi, making it a great spot to do some work or just relax and read a book. The baristas were very friendly and quick with our order, no complaints. This is such a fun place for a cup of coffee. Cute shop in an interesting part of town. They even have a little gift section for LA souvenirs. What I really liked was that you could have one of your photos "printed" in the foam on your coffee/tea! Loved it! I couldn't figure out how to do it before arriving so let me explain a little. There is an app you need to get, "Ripples." When you open the app, it will search for the nearest place that uses this coffee art. You can upload your picture(s) in advance so that when you are at the store, all you have to do is select one that is ready to go. You can add text to your photos, too. Or you can also just take a selfie on the spot. I'm writing this from a different area and the only way I could find my album was to add a new photo to "save for later." It then shows me all the photos in the Ripples album. Maybe you can access album directly when you are in range? When you "order" the photo you'd like to use, you get a number that you show the cashier when you order your drink. For 2 medium hot mochas, with the coffee art included, it was around $11ish. So it really wasn't much extra for the pictures. I had a close-up of an owl's face that I chose for my coffee art. This IG-friendly spot is in the heart of touristy LA, on Melrose and literally across the street from the bubblegum-pink wall by Paul Smith. You'll definitely find plenty of visitors in the cafe for their personalized lattes. You can choose either from the art selections that Carrera already has, or you can download the Ripples app to customize the art-foam. I opted for palm trees, a symbol of my hometown. Latte itself is strong; I couldn't really taste the rose syrup added to it, but otherwise, it was a solid cup of caffeine. The edible-rose donut I got was very mediocre, though. Service was professional and prompt, but don't expect warm, friendly vibes from them. Cafe itself is really nice architecturally, even down to its bathroom! It was designed to be photogenic, so I don't blame them. Carrera Cafe is worth an experience at least once, if you decide to brave the Westside traffic. Enjoy! read more

This might be my favorite cafe in the area! Strong coffee drinks and delicious matcha, plus a wide range of healthy salads and sandwiches. Their mango salmon salad is my favorite. The staff is super nice and friendly; I usually end up having interesting little conversations with them. Also, strong WiFi signal and they close at 6PM! Most cafes close at 5 so I really appreciate this. Just remember to bring noise-canceling headphones if you plan to work/study because it's a popular spot and the crowd's chatter can get a bit loud at times. Also, I don't remember seeing any power outlet (but have never really looked for it either) so just be mindful of that. read more

Parking is fairly easy but do keep in mind that there are timed parking meters everywhere. I came here with my lovely lady on a Friday afternoon around 12:30pm. The cafe was packed with customers while there was roughly 5 people in front of us ordering their food items & drinks. Since the weather outside was a beautiful and sunny 84°, we both took advantage of ordering "Iced Vanilla Lattes" priced at $4.50 (for hot or iced). Since we were still full from breakfast, we skipped on ordering food. But Carrera Cafe is a full-on deli which includes a nice variety of specialty salads (priced from $11-13) and a huge amount of sandwiches (also priced from $11-13). These sandwiches include turkey, tuna, pastrami, vegetarian, and much more. We decided to sit at one of their outdoor patio tables and what is cool about this location is that you can see several professional photographers taking pictures at the iconic "Paul Smith" pink wall. Its hilarious how people line up to take pictures of themselves with a pink wall background but c'mon, it's LA so anything is possible. Going back to Carrera, our lattes definitely hit the spot as they were creamy and made to perfection. They definitely had a finer roast then say, Starbucks or Coffee Bean. What draws a ton of people to Carrera Cafe is the customizable creations you can do with latte art. This place offers the capability of actually uploading your personal photo (or any photo for that matter) from your smartphone and they will digitally replicate it onto the foam of your latte! This is a first and a big hit with many photographers, both amateur and professional. With that and done, "Carrera Cafe" isn't quite the best place I've been to but it is worth checking out. Service was top notch, prices are a bit high (but you are in a very trendy part of town), and the overall experience with the art and culture surrounding this place was excellent. This cafe has a terrible outdoor security person (on weds 1/25) who is screaming at people parking in the public meters on Melrose & Harper to visit other businesses. He just waited for me outside my car door when I legally parked at a metered Public parking spot (with no permit or anything attached to it) saying that the spots were for the cafe and I couldn't park there. I was on a work phone call and he was so rude screaming and demanding for me to move that I had to end the work call to answer his confrontation. He then continued demanding that I can't stay for more than two minutes and asking where I was going. He circled my car the entire time I ran my errand and continued being threatening and harassing until I drove off. Please consider your hiring practices - our neighborhood is not the place for this kind of behavior. read more

Very Instagramable cafe. Has all the things you need for a cute photo. I went on a busy Saturday morning and grabbed a Nutella latte which was amazing. Very chocolaty and creamy. Great smooth taste. I got the printed latte art w TuPac for the photo. Had to get a good instagram shot. The staff was nice and helpful. They really walked me through the menu and offered suggestions. It's very dog friendly and can get packed fast. I also had the waffle sticks which were decent. Definitely end up soggy with the whip cream at the bottom of the cup. I loved Carrera Cafe! It is located right on Melrose Ave so when you get tired posing in front of those famous wall murals for your IG photoshoots, be sure to visit this place! I got the iced chai latte, which had a delicious cinnamon kick to it. What I really enjoyed was the custom latte art. Using the app-Coffee Ripples, I downloaded a picture of a beautiful drawing I saw online and got it printed on my latte. It might seem silly to pay a little extra just to get a picture on your latte, but it was fun to try out! It is a pretty cafe with good lighting and wifi. It wasn't as clean as I'd expect--I guess there's limited seating and many customers so there isn't time for the tables to be wiped in between each customer. I found this a bit gross but other than that, the cafe was great. Outside, on the left side of the building, there is a mural that Carrera updates every few months. The mural wasn't too cute this month, but I've seen them to do a cute lip wall mural in the past for Valentines Day. After going out for brunch, my boyfriend and I were looking for a cute cafe nearby that we could go to and do some studying for our classes. I love the white tables, black chairs, white quartz counters, white brick walls, and the white and black menu board!! It's definitely one of my favorite cafe's in terms of decor and atmosphere now. It's very crowded, but the line moves fast, and we ordered two of the specialty sodas, which you can select flavors for. I got raspberry, and my boyfriend got strawberry. Both flavors were delicious, and the drinks rich and creamy! The only detraction is how hot it was inside, but that's understandable given the high heats in Los Angeles right now and the fact that it was so heavily crowded inside. They can do it on any of their coffee/milk drinks. My friend has it done on hot chocolate. It is definitely worth the experience at least once. It is not super overpriced either; I paid $5.50 for a latte. You need to download the app Ripple. They have WiFi and the app name in the store, so my to worry if you forget! After downloading, you can choose from a selection of phrases/premade pictures or upload you're own. I only came here to get a Harry styles design on my coffee and while I was here I decided to order their "Famous breakfast sandwich." I thought the sandwich was SOOOOO basic!!! Nothing special about it to be honest. It was legit just egg, tomato, lettuce, Mayo and I added bacon to it but it was extra. Avo is also extra if you want it. The coffee was basic nothing special flavor wise. Also the girl taking our order seemed distracted. She was gossiping with her co worker while she was taking our order, laughing and not paying attention. I had to repeat myself 3 times. I'm not from the area, so the experience wasn't great. Such a cute cafe! I love coming here, both the inside and outside of the cafe are so cute, the food and coffee is great and the service is quick! I recommend the Il Tacchino Sub, a great turkey sub, and Carrera Combo Sub if you want more of an Italian sub. Both the Greek Salad and Nicoise Salad are amazing, but the Nicoise Salad is my favorite. It's very filling and everything in it tastes great! The coffee here is also spot on.
