The baristas make amazing foam, even though it's someone new every time The pastries are absolutely incredible -- the Nutella donut and almond croissant are my favorites. Stopped in for lunch and left a little torn. On the plus side, the place is really charming. The interior has a fun, Parisian café feel, and the handwritten marker menu on the white brick wall is especially eye-catching. It's the kind of place where I could easily grab a coffee and hang out for an afternoon. I ordered the Carrera Club sandwich. Flavor-wise, it was good, and the ingredients tasted fresh, and I also really liked the dressing that came with the small side salad. That said, the portion was very small for what you pay. It didn't really feel like a full meal, at least not for the price. The sandwich was $18 plus tax, which felt hard to justify, given the size, even considering the West Hollywood location. I noticed the pastas looked more reasonably portioned, so if I come back, that's probably the route I'll go. Overall, the ambiance is a big win here, but the pricing and portion sizes make it tough to fully recommend for lunch. I'd love to give this place a higher rating because the vibe is great, but it just feels a tad too expensive for me to really recommend it. read more

Veeerrry cute! I was waiting for a date and since the pink wall is easy to find I figured this was a good place to meet. I ordered the coconut latte with cold foam iced. So good! They had a good selection of pastries and the interior is decorated very cute. I was disappointed the little patio area seemed kind of under construction. There were only a couple tables and idk it was fine but didn't feel particularly welcoming. Iirc a couple chairs were stacked but it was later in the afternoon so maybe they were about to close. I stopped in mainly to use their WiFi for work, but I ordered a coconut matcha (I've seen them all over the place and have been curious about the taste), and it wasn't very good. The coconut water should be a bit sweeter, and I'm pretty picky about my matcha so this probably wasn't the best place to order that. I don't think there are any outlets, so this isn't somewhere to stay for long if you're trying to work or study for a while. read more

Came here for a brand activation. This is a nice cafe with plenty of seating. I easily could've ordered at least seven different things from them menu as their drinks all sound so tempting. Work in the Melrose/Wilshire area and you are looking for a place to grab lunch? Definitely hit up Carrera's! I know most people come here for the printed lattes but you need to check out their pastas! I honestly wasn't planning to eat here at all that day but I decided to try their penne pasta and I am so glad I did. It is a very decent size portion, my photo doesn't even do it justice. The flavor was delicious and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The cafe itself is small in the inside but there is some seating to get work done if needed. There are outlets to charge your devices and free wifi as well. read more

I stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant is right in front of the Pink Wall on Melrose, so it's easy to spot if you're in the area. The vibe is nice with a modern look and a fairly condensed menu. I tried the Burrata Caprese and my husband tried the Carrera Club. The sandwich was okay, nothing to write home about. It's not bad if you're nearby and need a bite, but if you're looking for an amazing sandwich, don't set your expectations too high. The coffee was pretty good, the latte art was super fun, the pastry cabinet looked delicious, but we didn't try anything because we were on our way to breakfast, and the service was friendly but a little disorganized. We had cappuccinos and some sort of cookie dough special latte which sounded excessively sweet, but really wasn't too bad. I was actually shocked they didn't make it too sweet. Overall I'd recommend, mainly because of the super fun latte art. It's definitely pricey. I think our coffees are about $10 each. location : 4/5 Latte : 3.5/5 Sandwich : 5/5 A friend recommended this place to me, she used to be a local in LA so as a visitor I took the chance of trying a new cafe I hadn't heard of. Which also has minimal hype in comparison to other LA cafes. Firstly, as a visitor I really do rely on gps to get me around. However I feel that even without gps this place is easy to spot. It's right on a corner, with lots of street parking once you are off the Main Street. Which I thought was nice especially while some other shops are nearly impossible to find let alone find parking. The decor is simple and modern, the restroom in particular is beautiful. Lots of outdoor/indoor seating. The staff is on top of it when it comes to cleaning. As for what I ordered. It was quite tough since they have a vast menu of options filled with fun things like cute designed coffees and even PASTA. I had to contain myself and just start with something a little more basic. I ordered a vanilla oat milk iced latte and their egg sandwich that they seem to be famous for. The latte was a regular latte nothing special I do believe there are other shops that would have more of a wow effect on me. Yet still was a decent enough latte, so no complaints. As for the sandwich, now that was special. The perfectly buttered croissant bread with the slightest crunch paired divinely with whatever sauce they had in the sandwich. My goodness, I took half of it home and ate it later. Even when it was cold it tasted divine. What really round up this whole experience for me was the service. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. They are definitely visitor friendly, not like some other pretentious coffee shops. This place has made it to my "must go back lists" which is hard to get on. What's more LA than grabbing a vanilla latte and taking a picture at the famous Paul Smith pink wall?? Carrera Cafe is the place to grab a hot or iced drink and a salad or sandwich if you're feeling hungry. Me and the hubby stopped in on a Sunday afternoon around 1ish and found a place to park across the street with 30 min on the meter still( score for LA parking!!!) we did add another 25 cent to give us 45 min. The hubby ordered a vanilla latte ($8.75) and he really enjoyed it. I ordered a matcha latte with coconut milk( unsweetened) $7.25. It tasted very earthy lol and next time I would add sweetener to it! We both got the option to ripple it ($3 each) which is putting a design on top of the foam on your coffee or tea. The hubby got the LA design and I uploaded a picture of my face . We both loved how they came out! The staff was super friendly and we were able to find seats in the corner as we sipped out drinks. I'm surprised by everyone saying service was good. The guy at the counter was super unfriendly and unhelpful. Cinnamon tiramisu latte- that was good. The server said it was super sweet. It wasn't. The only way you figure out about the speciality coffees is by the sandwich board outside. Nothing inside the store. What? Didn't know anything about the amazing foam art because server didn't say a word about it. I just saw it when I came back in to get my food. Avocado toast was just ok. We sat outside for about 30 mins and there were plates from the previous tables that no one bothered coming out to clear up. Very disappointing. read more

About average for the area. I came because every time I drive by there's a dog patron walking in or out. There was today too. Sadly one of my dogs is not dog friendly and the other dog joins in on barks so I ordered then sat outside. Nice little faux grass patio. Coffee was six bucks for a large. Like I said that's the neighborhood. Service was OK. I try not to expect a gleaming smile from every interaction. It's just coffee. Donuts are six bucks which is silly. They're the same as ones from the donut shop. So no to the treats here ever probably. Might try the regular food another day but that too is slightly pricey and doesn't look super interesting, being comprised mostly of salads and sandwiches. Dang it Joe Biden. Always blame the president for stuff costing too much. It's not bad but I'd return only to pet other people's dogs and leave mine at home. read more

How often can you send a text and say, 'I drank coffee with my picture on it?'. I mean I can often enough since I've become a regular here at Carrera Cafe. I love the Ripple program they use to add images into the top of drinks. I love how easy it is to order and pick your picture or design whatever you want for the topping. The service is great, orders are taken thoroughly and are prepared in an efficient manner. I don't think I've ever waited more than between 5-10 minutes even on a busy day here. The ambiance is super laid back and chill. There's people chit chatting and minding their business. The parking is almost always readily available, there's street parking on Melrose and on the small side streets as well. I definitely can recommend Carrera Cafe for a meeting, a date, a chill day out with friends and/or family and all that good stuff. It works with its guests you can say. Thank you guys!! My go-to coffee shop in LA! Service is always quick and friendly. Drinks are delicious (especially the flavored lattes and the picture lattes). Salads are huge and packed with ingredients. The service is impeccable and very friendly to you. They're really knowledgeable about their dishes too. The place just reeks of experience and professionalism. And I can't even start with the dishes. From the vongole down to the tiramisu, everything is delectable and perfect. The only downside is they raised their prices over the years I loved it when I used to get pasta for less than 20 bucks a few years ago. And the wait tends to be terrible so I would try to go earlier (opening) next time or just hop to a bar nearby while on the waitlist. Overall, I will forever love this place (unless they change the chef for worse) and so worth going every time.

We ordered: Steak Tartare (4/5) - Bread was perfectly oiled & crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside. The tonnato was very umami and made the dish but the steak itself was alright. Spicy Pomodoro (3.5/5) - This didn't hit as hard for me; I wished it was more spicy and I didn't taste any truffle. Pasta itself was perfectly al dente. Sweet Corn Agnolotti (5/5) - This was delish! Make sure to get equal parts of the pasta, sauce, corn, and crème fraiche (like a light sour cream) to get that flavor explosion. Creme was a little sour, corn was sweet, and the agnolotti was salty; perfect bite fr. My only negative is that this dish was too small for $28 :(. Blood Orange Pavlova (4/5) - A truly layered dessert because if you ate the sorbet by itself, it would be too sour but otherwise, another flavor explosion. The pavlova was thick and you really have to jam your spoon in to break the pieces apart. Service was friendly and fast! Overall, I'd come back!

Once upon a time (a few years ago), my CFP + banking institution wanted to thank me for being one of their top private clients. They expressed their gratitude with a very generous, all expense paid full-course meal at Bestia. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Fast forward to now, I knew that coming back here would be a good idea. Make no mistake, even if you try to book a reservation several weeks in-advance, don't be surprised if the only available seats are at the counter. Granted, I was in a spacey table during my past visit, the counter can be an enjoyable & unintentionally entertaining space. It's great for a more casual vibe, as you get to see some of the kitchen workers put together some of their signature dishes. In many ways, Bestia seems like a microcosm of the city that it rather humbly resides within. What always catches me off-guard, is that the surrounding simple area really doesn't reflect the happening, vibrant, night-life that resides within the building's walls. You feel like you're taken so a different, very social, very bustling world. WINE: Podere 72, Poderi San Lazzaro (Marche region, central Italy) - 8.7 / 10 A very robust blend of Montepulciano & Sangiovese grapes that results in a balanced, medium bodied red wine that stands-up to heartiness of a beef ribeye steak. FOOD: Roasted Bone Marrow - 9.4/ 10 I have several friends that go here just for this particular dish. Funny enough, one can almost always tell that one is at Bestia because of the rather peculiar manner in which this dish is served. Hot, melted bone marrow is appropriately scooped out of the bone & poured onto spinach gnocchetti. It's like eating beef flavored mouth pillows of potato + spinach. It's definitely a dish that will impress whoever you are with. I can never resist ordering this whenever I am here. Oxtail alla Vaccinara - 8.9 / 10 The deep, rich maroon color of the rigatoni (thanks to beets) is a sight to behold. The pasta is firm but not too hard. It's a humble yet complex pasta dish that complements any main course. 26oz Margaret River Wagyu Ribeye - 9.4 / 10 Anybody who knows me knows that I love my ribeye. Any decent fancy restaurant does a ribeye. But no one does a ribeye quite like Bestia. The fermented mushroom cream delivers a punch of pungence not unlike a delectable dijon mustard, but to the highest of levels. This dish also makes me a believer in well-cooked onions served alongside steak. I usually like to take a home a portion of ribeye for later, but this is one of the very few instances when the steak is so good, that I can't help but finish it here. Again, the portion is more than enough to be shared. Fromage Blanc Mousse - 9.1 / 10 This seasonal dish hits all the right notes. It's the fanciest of cheesecakes, so I recommend sharing this. With its decadence, a little truly goes a long way & that's perfectly fine. The richness of the cheese is offset perfectly by the right balance of candied kumquats. A great "bite" to end on. Huge shout-out & thanks to Radu for being the nicest & most enthusiastic of servers. It's little things like him being so down to take pics of you with your party that really make me want to come back here. It the owners / management is reading this, please recognize how pivotal he is to your team. If he was working under me, I would most definitely give him a raise. Also, shout-out to Dani at the hostess stand. She is one of the most personable people. For being the first person that patrons see upon entering, she is the perfect face, attitude, & welcoming personality that the hospitality industry is in dire need of. She's a rockstar of a hostess & a pleasure to talk with. Bestia is a better place because of valuable employees like Radu & Dani. As always, come for the food. Come back for the service. MY seatmate date and I later figured out the movement was from the party across from us. I guess all the booths are connected. It was really loud in the restaurant as expected. 3 starts for atmosphere and the vibe I got from our waiter. THe food was on point and delcious Bestia 10/10 quality for the pasta and pizza. The Peruvian scallops were forgettable. The duck was over salted. I didn't enjoy the experience sitting at the booths inside. We have never sat here before, and I will make a point to not sit there again in the future.

The experience did not disappoint -- it was beautiful from beginning to end. Our extraordinary server was James. He was engaging, attentive and unpretentious. His knowledge of the menu was impressive as he explained each section and item in a simplified way. After making our choices, he suggested changing one of our pasta selections since they all had heavy sauces. We accepted his recommendation of the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, which turned out to be everyone's favorite! The tomato-based sauce was light and perfectly spicy. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was amazing. The focaccia, oxtail meatballs and burrata with ham were a great start, showcasing the quality of the ingredients and thoughtful preparations -- they set the tone for our entire meal. The taste and texture of the freshly made pastas were unmistakable and so, so good with the wonderful sauces. The lamb chops were well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. I especially enjoyed the bed of sliced snow peas, green beans and English peas set over mint sauce. After all that, we had just enough room for shared desserts -- Budino and Tiramisu. Both were the perfect finish to a delicious meal. If you like chocolate, the Budino is for you -- rich but not overly sweet. Each yummy bite with the crumble topping was nicely balanced by the sprinkled salt. Service was impeccable and well-coordinated. We especially appreciated that dishes and utensils were changed after each course. A couple things to keep in mind: *Reservations - Via Resy. The reservation window is open 14 days at a time. *Parking - Valet is right in front. We found street parking just around the corner on Sunset (metered but free after 7pm). *Price Point - Approximately $100 per person. Mother Wolf is a cashless establishment. A 5% wellness fee is added to all checks. We will absolutely be back!
