It may not look it form the outside but Carillos is the best Mexican in Clovis. Quality: 5 stars. Good from the first bite to the last. Taste Mexican food, especially the meats. The chips are good too. Mostly I have had burritos here but I'm expending and it has been worth it. They have agua fresca as well. Value: 5 stars. The portions are big and leave me somewhere between satisfied and full with leftovers. If there is cheaper mexican food it doesn't get better than this in Clovis CA. Service: 5 stars. The food was quick today. The waiter was clean, polite and professional. He had a great haircut too. Atmosphere: 3 stars. The place is clean. They clean the table right after I was done. There was always an empty table between diners. Still the place was a little drab as in simple and in could see supplies. I've finally found some food Mexican food that's local. I tried the chili relleno and chicken enchilada plate. The salsa was fresh and the chips were nicely seasoned. My Chile relleno was good but I noticed there was no cheese. They fixed up another one right away and was super apologetic. The staff is super nice and the food excellent. Took one star away because both chili rellenos had seeds and charred skin. I know they make a lot of them but I hope next time there will be no seeds and better cleaned (skin removed). My family and I visited this restaurant for dinner and it was great! I had the shrimp cocktail which was full of flavor, fresh shrimp and COLD! Just how I like it My husband had chicken fajitas & my kid had a kids meal (tacos with rice and beans) All the food was really good! Fresh and super fast service. The waiters are all super attentive! They brought us out fresh chips and salsa while we waited for our food Prices are super reasonable, and they have lots of seating area for big parties. I would recommend you try the desert if you have room left after your meals lol We tried chocoflan and it was amazing! You can tell it was homemade to perfection. The dude and I dined at Carrillo's Mexican Food end of February 2020. The dude always raved about their food being good but I am very picky when it comes to Mexican food! As it's California so the food better be too notch. So my review may be skewed. When we entered we weren't immediately tended to and it was not busy at all. I don't hide that I am an inpatient millennial no doubt about that especially when money is being spent. So not too happy about that. Eventually we were instructed to seat ourselves anywhere in the front of the restaurant. It started to pick up when we were there mostly with pick up/take out orders. Our server took a while to tend to us but was very friendly and kind. We had a few staff check in with us to make sure we got our drink or order taken care of. I do love the fact that you can choose from either a tostada or salad which of course I opted for a tostada which was good with the complimentary chips and salsa. My chicken taco and chicken enchilada plate with beans and rice was "alright" it was nothing exciting or something for me to come back and get. I have had better but maybe this is good for "Clovis" as I was not impressed with the food. It could have been seasoned better. Presentation was on point as everything was pretty but I would prefer my other favorite Mexican food places. The location is good as it is literally across the street where the dude and I live. Overall, the experience was decent. I did enjoy my time here but for a Mexican restaurant in Cali needs to be on point. I got the chile verde rellanos dinner with a horchata. It came with rice, beans and a side tostada. The horchata was good. The food was just okay. I did like the chile verde but everything else was just super bland. Tasted better with the salsa. Would I come back? Maybe. Maybe I got the wrong thing. Love Carrillo's! I've been coming for a couple of months now and never had a bad experience. Usually we are seated right away and taken care of promptly. The food tastes great and you get decent portions. The only cons I have about Carrillo's is that when you order to-go, the portions are smaller. We went for breakfast on Sat. which was 5 days ago. We waited 15mins for our server (No1) to bring us stale chips and salsa then waited 45mins to be served our food! Not once did our server come by to let us know our food would be out soon I had to stop another server to ask her, then I had to go up to front and ask the lady you pay about our food, people that came in after us had all been served! We asked again other servers for napkins, water refills, containers to go. The customer service was horrible from our server! This was so disappointing . I was visiting up north, my sister and I visited Carrillo's when checking what was next to our hotel on yelp. We get there, and I told her, "oh my gosh I think this is going to really be fantastic! The food came out very quickly after we ordered and it was delicious! I had two carne asada tacos and one shredded beef, with rice and beans. The rice and beans were pretty standard, but the meat on all of the tacos was tender and cooked well. They all had fantastic flavor as well, especially the shredded beef. First time here and I'm blown away! The food was delicious! You get complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the chimichanga and it's hands down the best one I've tried at any Mexican restaurant. My husband is on a cocktail adventure, and since he was in the area in central fresno ish he grabbed dinner here. He ordered a shrimp cocktail and I got the shredded beef burrito and tripas taco. I tried his shrimp cocktail and in my opinion, it's the best one I had. The shrimp was cut down the middle and intestines were removed. The cocktail juice mixture was so fresh and just the perfect amount of acid. It was delicious. I almost ate his entire dinner lol. It comes with chips and crackers with the order so you can eat it with your cocktail. They accidentally dropped the cocktail order so they had to remake it and that took some extra wait time. It took my husband 20-25 mins to get his food. My shredded beef burrito was yummy! Nicely seasoned and cook down. The beef was soft to the chew and was nicely shredded and not chunky. It has rice and beans in it. Nothing crazy but it was perfect. A good burrito down in my books. We ordered Togo and they gave us a generous amount of salsa on the side. The tripas taco was good! I decided to have Mexican food when visiting the San Joaquin valley. I ordered the lengua (beef tongue) enchiladas and taco dinner plate. It was exceptional. The taco was an authentic Mexican one (made with corn tortilla, onions, and cilantro). The enchiladas were also well made with a fantastic sauce. I also enjoyed the rice and refried beans that came with it. The complimentary chips and salsa were fantastic. The chips were homemade. The salsa was flavorful with fresh tomatoes. I also ordered a cup of guacamole, and it was creamy and consistent. This is the best Mexican restaurant I had in the USA. It's worth stopping in the Fresno area to try this place. read more

When we asked, we were told that they changed the prices and the menus haven't been updated. They also charge an extra fee for using a card. This is not listed anywhere. This place serves great food. However, it could be better. Certain days, service is slow. At times waiting ten minutes to order food. If you were to notify the server you've been waiting a while, the response will be, "hold on, I'm busy right now." (Glasses, mustache and soul patch.) After that, he just had someone else take our order. So, the vibe, just felt off and not as welcoming. He could've communicated that differently without a "rude-like" tone. I understand that when you get busy, you develop tunnel vision. That is just my opinion not anyone else's and he might've been having a bad day. He did come around to ask if we needed anything, so something good came out of it. If you're getting there right when they get open, they're opening 5-7 minutes after posted time they open.
