In the area visiting for the weekend and to celebrate my bf's birthday, we picked up several family-style meals from Carroll's to bring back to our cabin. The RIBS were so legit fall-off-the-bone good. Pulled pork and chicken just as extraordinary, both alone and accompanied by a dribble of the 3 types of sauces that we got. (I liked the hot/spicy one the best, but the vinegar one was great on the collards.) The fries and okra weren't that tasty, but I'm sure that they would've been perfect had we dined in, rather than the time that it took for our group to travel back with the feast. Like many places around the country, Blue Ridge is suffering from a staffing shortage. So, one of the only reasons we went to Carrolls's was that most other restaurants were closed. In fact, we're not huge fans of barbecue joints. But, we are so glad we ended up ordering from Carroll's. My husband and I both ordered the pulled chicken plates. The side salads were very fresh and crisp. The chicken with the sweet and spicy barbecue sauce was tender and tasty. My husband ordered the baked potato and stated it was perfectly prepared. I had a side of the potato salad which was delightful. We also ordered the banana pudding and apple crisp and ate them later in the evening. They we're both super delicious! "Off the chart" Delicious.. Quick getaway from Fl, locals we talking about this place. Glad we stopped in for dinner. Busy, only waited 15 minutes. Started out with Brunswick Stew- Most places can't get this right.... Carroll's does.. perfect balance of seasonings and lots of meat... delicious! Sever was "on point". Love the "tablet" ordering system - Smart owners thinking ahead before opening for business. I ordered combo with rib bone, wings and pulled pork... perfectly prepared. Fall off the bone ribs were "killer GOOD" wings had a crisp skin, tender and moist. Wife went crazy over pulled pork. Went there today with some friends and as we were about to order, the computers went down. The younger girl had a horrible attitude toward an older co-worker (possibly a relative?). So blatantly horrible and unbelievably unprofessional right in front of us. She also had an attitude toward a lady who said she had placed a to-go order and had already paid. Honestly, I was shocked how rude she was. My friends had a hard time ordering their food because they were shocked at how the girl was talking to co-workers and customers. Looking back, I wish I would have said something. The food was decent but my husband didn't get his food until we were all almost finished with ours. Last Saturday in July '24, ordered the "tater hill". Your choice of loaded baked potato, fries, or tots and your choice of smoked meat. We choose the tots with smoked chicken. It comes on a medium size baking sheet mounded up like a hill. Included in the hill is the potato, meat, mac and cheese, baked beans, slaw with appropiate sauces. Very filling for several people. Delicious, only suggestion to improve it would be more smoke on the chicken, but that is a personal choice. The place appears clean and well run. read more

Food was not good at all. Pulled pork was served lukewarm and tasted like it was several days old. Majority of the pork was extremely chewy and dry like it had been reheated while the other pieces were pure fat. I feel like this is absolutely going to be the "outcast" review. Obviously Carroll's BBQ has been doing something right over the years. There is a bunch of great reviews and the only reason we decided to visit here while in Blueridge. Visiting around 630 on a Thursday evening. It wasnt very crowded and we were sat right away. Everyone was very nice. Bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of parking available. We started with some fried pickles. They are served with ranch dressing and you get a large portion. Between the two of us we had ribs, brisket, pork, and sausage. Everything but the sausage was spicy. Obviously cooked with some sort of heat. Now this is where the crazy part comes in... BEFORE the food was even served, I mentioned to my girlfriend that I smelled something that smelled like lighter fluid. Sure enough, when the food showed up, there was a very strong taste of light fluid. The only thing I can think of is that the fire the meat was smoked in was started with a large amount of lighter fluid. I have made that mistake before when using my big green egg. We did not mention to the staff because this would be our only time here in town and just wanted to chalk it up as a loss. Again, everything else was fine. read more

Hubs thought it lacked smokiness. Mac and cheese is super creamy. Baked beans were declared fine. Sweet potato fries were very nicely crispy. Brunswick stew got mixed reviews from the table. We tried 3 kinds of sauces: wild and sweet, hot and spicy, and Georgia vinegar. Mild and sweet was the winner. Not overly sweet and there is a nice peppery ending on it. Place is large open area, clean and bright. Service was quick. Overall a worthy addition to the N. GA. barbecue scene. read more
