I came to Dr Carson for an extraction and an implant. This doesn't happen in one visit and the care I have received has been first class. Although the location is in an older building, Carson & Carson's office has state of the art equipment. During my recent visit for my implant, I had a CAT scan and several Xrays taken during the installation of what I call my implant anchor. Dr Carson showed concern that I not experience any pain during the procedure and explained what he was doing during each step of the process. He really is the dentist to see if you are afraid of pain because his treatment is painless. I have to also mention the help I received at the front desk from Daisy and Carmen. My son is 16 years old, 200lbs and severely autistic. A routine trip to the dentist takes much time to arrange and is very stressful. So when his front tooth was knocked out I was prepared for anything. I am new to Ventura and found Dr.'s Carson and Carson through a friend. My son must be sedated (I thought) for anything beyond sitting in the chair. He is large and often loud and can be very intimidating. Dr.'s Carson's friendly staff took my son to his seat, examined him and X-Rayed him without complaint and for most of his visits without sedation! The visits to follow were equally fluid and far less stressful than I had anticipated. Dr. Carson Sr. stopped by to make his very convincing Donald Duck voice, keeping my boy distracted. (This was way more effective than you might think.) Their office staff handled the very complicated insurance coverage easily and without confusion. Just move to Oxnard last night I had an unbelievable toothache so I looked up on Google 24 hour dentist and I got dr. Carlson is phone number I left a message with the answering service at about 11 and by 12 I had a phone call from Doctor Carson. I had actually falling asleep so I decided I would just call him back in the morning. In the morning I called them 9 I had an appointment for 10 that same day and by 10:30 he was pulling my tooth that need to be extracted. I just left the office. I had a 2:00 appointment and finally was called back to the exam room at 2:47. The dental assistant was entering data into the computer, she was coughing the whole time. She left the room for a minuter where she may or may not have washed her hands. Came back into the room still coughing, put a mask on then gloved up. She proceeded to either start a program on enter more data into the computer. She then wanted to take x-rays, requiring her to put her hands in my mouth and touch equipment she was going to put in my mouth. I called her on this, instead of changing gloves she insisted it was Okay. I had the Flu for a whole month, I don't need to be reinfected. In my opinion this is poor hygiene. She should have washed her hands again and put new gloves on. read more

They give you only the price for the root canal when I asked for the total amount. Once the root canal is done, they want to you schedule another appointment for the crown -which is a mandatory part of the root canal- and pay extra money for that. I read reviews here and learned I'm not the first victim of this dishonest practice. I've been to few more other dentists later, they all give you the total price for root canal + crown. After having many horrible encounters with choosing a dentist over the past 5-7 years, I truly believe I found one for life! Dr. Carson regularly checked on me during my visit to ensure I was not having any pain whatsoever and made sure I had enough medication to complete the job, which has been my biggest problem in the past. Previous dentist would numb me up and start working without ensuring the medication had fully gone into my system so I wouldn't feel any pain. Dr. Carson was very knowledgeable about how long it would take to kick in and made sure it had, prior to starting. I was diagnosed with cavities but after consulting a second and third opinion in L.A I found out that Carson dental was just trying to scam me and my dental insurance company. Also the DA's in here will take more x Ray's than needed instead of the basic ones just to bill your insurance company a ridiculous amount of money. We are new to the area, and asked are limited friend base for help finding a dentist. Our daughter hadn't had the best luck with dentist, and we needed her to feel comfortable. Comfort and more is what we got. As a family we loved the place from the very beginning. We walked in and felt at home. Not sure what happened to my review written a few weeks ago, so here's another one: The bottom line is that the Dr.'s Carson, a father and son team, know their stuff inside and out. Look at all the glowing reviews on yelp, google, and demand-force. We're not getting paid to leave reviews, right? So perhaps there's something to all of the praise. This practice has been devoted to its patients for over 40 years in the Oxnard area. My husband and I have had various procedures done here: implants, veneers, tooth extraction, bone grafting, etc. For those of you who feel anxiety regarding dentistry, there's solutions here at this office for this condition. Both dentists are licensed examiners for I.V. sedation, insuring that dentists who offer this valuable service meet the state standards. You're in good hands with Carson and Carson, D.D.S. Knowing I needed a tooth extraction, I was nervous. Waited just a few minutes in the office and I was escorted to my chair. Xrays were done in chair and Dr. Derek Carson told me exactly what he needed to do. He numbed me up with virtually no pain! Incredible, I was so scared and it was nothing at all (wow!). He had my tooth out in seconds.... yes... seconds. He talked to me every step of the way and was extremely reassuring. I'm now at home feeling so much better. I had the best Dental experience ever with Dr. Derek Carson. I have never really been a big fan of the dentist but the whole office put me at ease. The sympathy from the front office staff to the extra care of the Doctor to not cause me any unnecessary pain. I feel as though my comfort and peace of mind was taken into consideration before any procedure was done. He didn't bully his way into work but took a slower more cautious approach and explained each step as it was conducted. I entered this facility an hour ago with what I would rate as 9 out of 10 pain where I had to pull over during the drive over just to apply pressure. I've been going to this dental office for 5 years now. When you walk in you'll first notice the carpet, the couches, the TV, The pictures on the wall. The fish tank and they even have a game room for the kids. For as long as I've been going I haven't seen one staff member leave. Beverly, Liz, Rosie, Rose, Carmen, Dr Derek and Dr LeRoy, they're like family. They even invite some of their patients to major events. Such as Roses 25th year anniversary with the company. That was a few years ago. I recommend the Carson's to all my friends, family, and employee's. There's no one else I'll have work on my mouth. The care that Dr Carson takes to make sure there is no pain goes above and beyond any experience I've had in the past. Not only is this a family oriented Dental office with over 40 YEARS experience but they also have state of the art equipment. What ever you need, they can do it. Implants, complicated surgery, IV and IM sedation. They aren't the cheapest on the block but they aren't the most expensive either. Dr. Carson is very fast and efficient with his dental work so you can expect to be in and out in no time. Him and his front desk staff are all very attentive and kind. They will go extra lengths to make you feel more comfortable and that is much appreciated. I don't usually post a second time but I love this dentist. I opted for sedation because the noise and the shots are way too much for me. I called my husband at 10 am to remind him to come and get me, took my second pill. The next thing I remember was waking up at 3:30 am panicked that I missed my dentist appointment. My husband says its ok you went. I say are you sure there isn't any pain. The only evidence is that I can feel stitches in my mouth but no pain. The next day Beverly (dentist office) called to make sure I was ok and not in pain. I was still in shock that I remember nothing and no pain. A little tender to the touch but no pain. Dr. LeRoy Carson saved my favorite tooth! I'll explain- I have a one-of-a-kind wisdom tooth that is actually two teeth fused together, so it's almost twice as big as a normal wisdom tooth. It fits in my mouth just fine, and I am proud of all my eccentricities, so I am very attached to this tooth. One day I woke up with a throbbing pain in this tooth. Dr. Carson's office is over an hour and a half away from my home, so I went to a local dentist. They told me my favorite wisdom tooth was inflamed, and would probably have to come out. WWWHHHAAAAAAAATTTTT? No. I need a second opinion. I need Dr. Carson's opinion. I made the drive and went to the dentist's office. Now is a good time to add that Dr. Carson has the most high tech toys for dentists I have ever seen. He is NOT a budget dentist. He is a dentist you go to when things must be done right. So, he inspects my tooth, and gives it some pressure. My general pain doesn't increase. Hmm. A rotten tooth that needs to come out usually hurts like hell when pressure is applied. So he asks me if I can breathe clearly, and I tell him that I am a little congested. Next, he uses his high tech gear to take a 3-d picture of the soft tissue of my head! He can see that A) I am congested, and B) there's nothing wrong with my wisdom tooth. NO CAVITY! NOTHING WRONG! Oh, and C) he also sees that I have extra nerve endings leading to my fused wisdom tooth, which is why it is twice as sensitive as a normal tooth. But back to the congestion- he says it is a frequent reason for why people experience tooth aches. I could have lost my favorite tooth that was working fine and had nothing wrong with it and paid thousands of dollars if I had used the local dentist.
