Several years ago, I wrote a scathing review of this business. They were the worst! But a couple years ago, the business sold and a new owner took over. They are much more customer friendly, they do honest work, and they have become excellent communicators. I had some more work done by them on our current motorhome. They did a great job. This place is amazing! They took our old RV (1993 33' Class-A motorhome) with its problem of Park not holding into position and fixed it for a few hundred bucks (just needed a new pin, which they fabricated) compared to what I thought was going to be "transmission" costs. Not only that, they did it in a few days. Typically I've found places either say our RV is too big, too small (other truck places), too old, or they're just too busy to work on anything that's not cookie-cutter. My first impression was, Wow! They had a parking place for RV's. It was clean. Organized. Filled with models of race-cars and other things that showed the people there are spirited and passionate. Still, I've been impressed before, then let down. Not this time! I'll go back there again, hopefully just for some basic maintenance and stuff like oil changes. read more

I agreed to pay $205/hr (this is a very high amount for Carson City, NV) and a $600 dollar minimum. They charged me $1650 to inspect the coach and change two belts and add 1/2 lb of refrigerant in the system this seemed to be extremely high to me. They then quoted me $400 to change the air dryer filter saying they had to go by the book charge. When I asked the owner why they changed from the hourly charge to a book charge he became extremely defensive saying that he did not negotiate rates, (I wasn't trying to negotiate anything) he asked what I was implying and never answered my question. It appears that they wanted to charge the highest rate possible whether hourly or the book rate even though we had contracted for an hourly rate. I was very disappointed with the owner!!! If I could give zero stars I would! Came for an oil change and to get air in my tires. The lady behind the desk when I dropped off said she had to put "up to 1 hour" on the bill to air the tires up but assured me it would only take 15 or so minutes so I would not be charged 185$ (their hourly rate). When I pick up my motorhome a man checked me out, told me what they did, and showed me some other issues I had with my motorhome that I should get fixed. For an oil change and AIR in my tires, 750$. This is highway robbery and ANYONE should steer clear of this place. The man charged me 185$ to air my tires up. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY FIVE DOLLARS for air in my tires. Absolute trash. They should be ashamed of themselves, I will personally come change your oil just so you do not give this place your business. The labor for the oil change was 370$. The labor for airing up my tires is 185$ for a total of 555$ in labor for oil change and tires aired up.EMBARRASSING!!!! ***UPDATE*** 1/11/2023 Had some service done on my RV again in redwood city CA. I had 3x the amount of work done at the same hourly rate as this garbage hole "business" (Carson Truck & Auto Repair). On February 6, 2024, I wrote a negative review of an experience with Carson Truck & Repair. The very next day the new owner called with an apology and a full refund of the charges. The new owner told me that all pricing is under reviewed, and corrections well be made to fit the ongoing cost of any said repair. High Dollar shop - read your estimated carefully! My regular shop stopped taking motorhomes, so i needed a shop to service the radiator, transmission and differential. So, CTAR did a Lube, Oil and Filter (LOF), serviced the radiator and transmission, but not the differential. I do my own LOF with synthetic oil every 5000 miles (not due for another 3000 miles). The Intake guy failed to ask if I wanted synthetic oil and they put in regular oil that I now need to change out myself. I also still need to have the differential serviced. The final bill was about $200 more than the estimate! They did look over the motorhome for other issues and that is what a good shop should do. But on each of the things they found, they suggested the most expensive solution, most of which is over-kill. If you have more dollars then sense, this is your shop, but it's not mine. read more

I have had 2 motorhomes serviced here. I had a complete diesel pusher service done 2 years ago and wheel alignment and safety check done on a class c this year. Both were done to my satisfaction. The complaints on this site about price were not an issue for me. Labor and overhead are not cheap. I truly believe you get what you pay for. How refreshing it was to find an RV repair shop where they were nice and professional and accommodating with a clean business environment. After 2 other shops had our motorhome for many months, we still found issues. Carson Truck & Auto gave us a quote and called us if anything was found that would change the price. They gave us options on resolving problems and were open to our input. They've worked on our rig 3 or 4 times (we had extensive mouse damage and kept finding new things) and they always completed the work within the estimated window. We will continue to use them for all of our RV services. All employees we interacted with were very pleasant. read more

BEWARE, very dishonorable business! They installed a stabilizer on our RV, after which the handling worsened. Took it back, their mechanic test drove the rig and admitted something was wrong, but after a week no work had been done. The manager argued with us and blatantly lied saying the mechanic never said that...even though 4 people witnessed it. Contacted the maker of the stabilizer who was appalled by the story and suggested we go to a specific shop approximately 200 miles from where we live. They not only fixed the issue but informed us the stabilizer was installed incorrectly and could have been catastrophic. I posted this review on Google and noted Carson T&A removed themselves from Google probably due to all the negative comments. That's how repugnant they are...they won't correct or improve their business...they hide the bad stuff. Use at your own risk! read more

Carson Truck and Auto Repair fixed my RV after two other places failed. That was almost a year ago and the repairs have held up. Steve was polite and attentive, followed up when he said he would, and went above and beyond to provide special service because I was from out of town. I felt my faith in humanity restored. Everything was done by the book, including written delivery of estimates before the work was done, updates as the work progressed, and written changes to price quotes as necessary. Many places fail to do this and leave one wondering whether the work is legit. ... there was no question here. My father brought in his RV with a bad tire was told it was due to low air although they had installed and aired the tire. Ok fine, so he pays for the replacement, begrudgingly and then received a call that he owes another $40! For their poor service!! Crooks, would not give me a breakdown of the estimate only 1700 estimate plus tax, said their hr rate is 185.00 per hr! After calling other diesel shops their rates are 105-125 per hr. Go ahead and take your vehicle here if you enjoy giving your money away and wasting your time. They tell you one thing on the phone and suddenly their "phone estimate" go's triple of what you were told initially. I signed their work order which did state they charge you $250 just to look at your vehicle thinking well maybe they will take it off their bill if you have them do the work. But after deciding not to have them do the work, I got to pay the $250 and told the owner Dave they charge you just to plug in their diagnosis equipment and never turn a wrench on the truck/car. Why would they dirty their hands? Pure profit. So they have it figured out that if they quote you enough on the repair job and you decline they can offer to buy your vehicle and turn a fat profit by repairing it and selling it. Kept changing the price of the original estimate for repairs and kept calling us with a brand new estimate even though everything was stated on the first visit. Incredible shisters!! took our RV in for brakes, and 50,000 mile ck up. First trip out the ABS light comes on for the brakes, take it back, the said might be a sensor (of course a charge), however they did something not sure what ABS light out. Next trip out started losing power, made it to my destination, husband called the shop to tell them, they suggested cking all fluid levels and to bring it in as soon as I got home. Called Monday with I got home to get it in, was told, I dont care who your husband talked to, we dont have time to look at if for a few days! This was how I was talked to after spending almost 7800.00 there. They finally took put it on the tester, came back fuel pump possible bad, appro 2000.00 to fix. Said we wanted price for the part, they quoted about 1000.00. Husband found same part for 540.00. YES , we found for half the price. Went to pick up RV they had ordered the fuel pump and wanted to charge us 1300.00, I was shocked! Told them we did not ask them to order it, was told by Dave, Steve does not make mistakes. HUM, guess a polite way of calling us lairs! They finally agreed to let me have the RV with only paying for the test, and oh, the mud flap had come lose so I told them we would fix when we got it home. They are way over priced, over charged on everything. Take way to long to fix the problem, was charged extra for everything. After they fixed it the same problem came back, had to come back from a trip early so they could try and fix what they already said was fixed and charged us 2,000.00 dollars for. All RVers, If you want to be treated like Fertilizer. Then buy tires from these guys. Took motorhome in for a service. Told them I was going on a 2000mi trip. They told me because they were 6 years old I needed new tires. Tires on away I go. Second day and 1000mi into trip, left rear outside dually goes flat. The only thing saving the beauty rim is my stem extension. two more times it goes flat on the third time AAA pulls the tire off. All of the extensions inside to the stem are gone. I return from trip confront CTAR WHY did you not call me to say you were going to trash my extensions. NO REPLY. Only that they should be connected to steel stems However they had no hesitation connecting my outside extensions to my rubber stems. When i told them i felt they were responsible for the tire going flat. Their reply was you got 1000mi and 2 days, if there was something wrong it would have happened before then. It states in there WARRANTY Section that they warrant there work for 90days or 4000mi. SO, If you want to take a shafting for $650. Visit CTAR! read more

These guys are Thieves!!!! My mother in law (72 years old) brought her Class C RV in for the coach batteries not charging and an oil change and walked out spending $520!!! What a joke joke !!! these guys said it took 2.8 hours at $145 an hour to change the oil, add some coolant and change a $9 circuit breaker. Really!! when I called and asked for a breakdown on the hours they said it took 2.8 hours at $145 an hour but refused to tell me where the hours went. Again, what a joke, if you can't answer that simple question. I looked up other reviews and We're not alone, most posts are 1 star, a shame that there aren't negative stars , cuz these guys should be minus 5 stars!!!! you go here for repairs prepare to waist your hard earned money!! Rip -off artists. Charged us to replace the coolant recovery tank on our RV in January and we just discovered it was never done. We verified the tank was original equipment through a Monaco dealership. And of course we still have the coolant leak they were supposed to have fixed by replacing the tank. Don't take your vehicle to these guys!!! read more

Very much over priced,the two brothers are very rude and just in it for the money, they do not care about customer satisfaction or repeat business ,they always find excuses for not having the work finished on time.
