I'm a pretty frequent customer at Carsonies. The employees are consistently rude but Ive never really minded, the food being good enough to ignore. Servers wore skirts, our servers was at a respectable length but the other server had her skirt rolled up like she wanted everyone to know what color underwear she had on (slight exaggeration). Food was so good! Service Excellent. Very comfortable homie vibe. I got the Godmother hoagie and the chicken was crispy and the tomatoes were fresh and cheese excellent. My boyfriend got The Godfather hoagie and it was so so good as well. It had a great mix and balance of flavors, the onions and peppers mixed really well with the cheese and meat. The fries has light Parmesan and seasoning on them. it was lovely. There was fun stuff al over the walls to look at. The kids menu comes with a prize from a treasure chest!:) so cute. So not at all what we hoped for. Our food was cold after waiting 30+ minutes. After one bite we sent it back - lasagna. We're a huge fan of their stromboli and salad options! The chopped Italian salad is a favorite. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their Stromboli's or salads. We've also liked their sandwiches and chicken parm. Personally, I think their pizza is just so-so (I don't care for the crust, kind of thick and blah) and wouldn't recommend as they have so many better options on the menu. My only complaint was the sauce was barely warm to dip the deliciousness in. I also had a side salad...basic, the star was the homemade ranch dressing! So this place has some really great food. I think it's pizza and Stromboli are very excellent. It has great parking and location with a verity quiet indoor seating section. Very friendly and helpful waitstaff. And overall a great experience. Keep in mind it's just a little pizza place. I was not offered this at a lower price or anything... it was just a little jumbled in the boxI was asked to wait 10 mins while they made another one ( which I did... accidents happen, right?).... But 10 mins turned into 20 minutes. And absolutely nothing was really said or done. Nothing off the price, no free item like breadsticks, nothing. That doesn't add up to good customer service to me. Visited for the first (and last) time. Walked in to an empty bar except for one person who was studiously ignoring us on her phone. After a minute she got up and walked towards us and asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. We chose out and sat ourselves on the patio. She went into the back and said "he" would be out with menus. We waited for a few minutes when finally a young man came out and proceeded to chastise us for not waiting for the hostess. He brought no menus, no water, and no manners. Little did he know that my wife and I have been in food service for longer than has been alive. 11 of those years owning a successful pizza restaurant. Carsonies is just as underwhelming as I remember... and joe even worse. Now the kids are running the asylum and the food is not good at all. Literally don't think there was anyone over 21 even cooking the food. My son got the Steak something grandad or something. He put Mayo on it and it ruined his whole sun because it was sweet Mayo and he actually didn't finish which says alot because he eats anything . The wings were the star this day. However I think they make their own ranch and blue cheese which poured out like milk. Too bad because I gave them another chance and the flopped big time. I recently had my engagement party here out on the cutest patio in Columbus. Carsonie's was excellent in all aspects. The scheduling and pre ordering of food was seamless. The service was top notch. The space was perfect for all 40 of my loved ones to celebrate my fiancé and I. We were even able to come early to decorate a bit for the occasion. Our waitress did not miss a beat. Our food was amazing, our guests were so impressed and all left with happy stomachs. I cannot praise this place enough and I will recommend Carsonie's to any and everyone. From Lane Ave this place looks more swanky than it really is. With the plush and radiant patio and its posh looking red umbrellas, and the classy font of its named anchored at the side it seems like a high-end bistro. The inside though reveals it more in the category of midlevel Italian eatery, the kind of place you stop before or after a high school sports game, with tables draped with checkered cloths, dark cherry wood, and wall junk of OSU sports sprinkled with a few caricature of (famous?) people. Dominating the place is a large bar that seem to attack groups of friends, family, and the like--a neighborhood hole across from the mall. I came here first last fall because I was yearning for food from the boot--or what passes in C-town town for it--and this was suggested. I ordered a Carsonie Chicken--a breast under marinara sauce over spaghetti alfredo. It came with bread and a Caesar salad. I was happy with the meal for the affordable price but it didn't blow me away. The chicken marinara suffices as a quick meal, the spaghetti is decent. The salad could use a bit more something. I didn't review it at that time since I got the impression this is more a pizza-calzone kind of place--which is in their name. I returned last weekend. This time I ordered a Calzone and selected pepperoni and sausage-- as they make them like their Pizza. It was very fresh and delicious. The crust was not too thick or thin. I really loved it. I will certainly come back to try the Stromboli when the urge arrises. Parking can be limited so you might have to park at the mall. The patio is wonderful. Good place to al fresco. read more

Girlfriend suggested Carsonie's, claiming they had amazing Stromboli. The "problem" is that my girlfriend is an amazing cook and it can be challenging to go out for a meal better than hers. Not the restaurants fault :) However, it is nice for us to get out on a Saturday night for dinner. Reservations for 2 on 4/22/2023 at 7pm. We got right in as it was not that busy, and unfortunately, had a very little table. Server made her way by and made sure to say Hello, then was back to take our drink order. So far, so good. We both ordered a beer. When she returned with the beers, we placed our order for an appetizer, the meatballs. 7-8 minutes later she took our main entrée order which consisted of two side salads and we'd split the classic Stromboli. When the meatball appetizer came out, a gentleman brought it. Three very non-impressive meatballs, not exactly hot either. Sauce seemed a little bland, Not really a "sharable" appetizer. Our server walked by asking if the appetizer was OK, "OK" was my reply, at this point by beer is empty, and it was a draft so pretty easy to see, it's empty. 1st world problems I know, very little elbow room on the table, especially when a different worker bought the two salads and Stromboli out, at the same time. Just no room, eat salad when cold, or eat Stromboli while hot, good thing I chose the Stromboli first, as it wasn't hot. Not cold, but far from fresh out of the oven. Just not an impressive first visit for me. The pizza did look amazing, so for that, I might make a trip back to try it. Outside of that, no. Perhaps the staff splits the tip evenly? Hopefully because outside of being pleasant, our server really didn't do much at all. Not enough to justify the proper tip. Woo-hoo! I cannot say how thrilled I was when I saw another reviewer mention Rappalo's! I have been looking for YEARS for another place that offered stromboli as good as Rapplo's. I had to try the place out for myself. I dragged a friend out with me and we went searching up Lane Ave for this place. Eureka! It's located to the side of the ol' Lane Avenue Shopping Center. And I was NOT disappointed! Just like Rappolo's. Loved, loved it! Said something to the waitress about Rappolo's and she looked at us quizzically. Definitely going back for the stromboli! Service was spot on. Reasonable price. And the stromboli came out much faster than expected. They have a separate doorway for take-out. Pizza's that I saw coming out of the kitchen looked good, but hey! I was there for the stromboli! Pizza has a thick style crust. Toppings seemed a little skimply, but looked good, too. I used to drive by the one on Westerville Road all the time, and meant to stop but never did. Stumbled on this- with Yelp's help- and gave it a try. Sweetie and I went after the OSU game, and I thought it might be packed but it wasn't. Service was excellent. We had the calamari, which was great. This pains me to only give my latest meal from Carsonie's two stars. When I was young I actually got a job at Carsonie's because I thought their stromboli was that amazing. I use to say it was the best in town. When I worked there and for many years after they always quoted the time to cook the stromboli as 30 min. I use to tell the customers if you are in a hurry then maybe ordering the stromboli is not a good idea because you could not speed up with cooking process. Well, I do not know if in these recent days if they have changed their dough, or their ovens, or any other variables. But we called for a to go order, placing an order for 2 strombolis and some appetizers and we were quoted at that moment 30 min exactly. We of course assumed it would take a little longer than that since we knew the 30 min rule and they had not even hung up the phone with use to begin making our strombolis. We were already on the road heading to Carsonies when we placed the order (we were driving home from another location and going right by Carsonies). We knew we might have to wait and we were fine with that. So 22 min later we arrived at Carsonies and I went in just to check on our order. Completely shocked they had it bagged up and ready. I was floored. We drove home with the delicious smells tempting us the entire ride. When we sat down to eat, I pulled one portion away from my stromboli and I just knew it was not going to be good. The stromboli crust on the bottom was completely gooey. The stromboli was extremely under cooked. To the point I could only eat the two ends of my stromboli. It was too soft for me to enjoy. I was crushed because I have always told everyone when visiting Columbus and living here that Carsonies has the best stromboli in town. That is no longer the case. I don't think I can get another stromboli there again. I am so disappointed that they have not kept up their consistency of not rushing and doing it right. read more

They're kind of peculiar. Called in a pick up order so I head over there and pull into an open space which is in the midst of extremely fast entering and exiting from the shops on Lane Ave. Head into the restaurant and there's a "PLEASE SEAT YOURSELF" sign, an open bar with no bartender, and no staff to greet or help me. I'm standing there for quite some time and then I contemplate calling the number I called my order in to let them know I'm here to pick up and pay for my order. Just as I'm calling a young lady with dark hair pops up that works there and I informed her of my intentions and then she instructs me to leave the dining room area, go back outside a few doors down, and enter there to cash me out and give me my order? Whoa..Its like 2 degrees outside! Why do I have to leave and freeze? What's so hard for her to take my money from where we're positioned at the bar, she can walk through the restaurant to the kitchen/cash register area, give me my change, and my stromboli? Maybe I could have bought and enjoyed a drink at the bar while I waited on my change and my stromboli? Nevertheless, I didn't complain and followed her instructions. After freezing from exiting the dining area, and having to go back outside I get to the kitchen, pay for my order, and she places a tin foil over the stromboli and just hands it to me. What? No bag? No napkins? No silverware? I had to ask her for a bag. She acts like it was a fucking hassle. She grabs the bag, opens it up, yet I have to place my purchase in the bag myself. So much for customer service! Lesson: The simple and small stuff goes a long way. This was my first time ever coming and trying this place and I wanted to see how it was so possibly I may have a group and try the place for dinner, appetizers, desserts, drinks, etc. Moreover I ordered their largest and most expensive stromboli! It was like $21.98. Nevertheless, due to their peculiar hostess, odd pick up/carryout rules that you have to leave the restaurant and walk a block down the street and stand in the kitchen like they're too good to have you wait in their dining room area, and extreme lack of general customer service, business acumen as far as packing up food for carryout customers, and hospitality I won't be back. We came here again with my parents and had to wait awhile for a table since we went on a saturday evening. Off to a bad start since my parents are pretty impatient but I assured them it was worth the wait and my dad loves stromboli and calzone. Finally we got a booth which is a pretty tight sqeeze for 5 people but we were hungry so we took it. We got a large pizza, salad and stromboli to share. Luckily they loved it as much as we did and the evening turned out nice. The service is great even if they are always packed and each item is cooked to perfection. They never rush it and don't take out of the oven until it is absolutly perfect and that is worth the wait. Pricewise it is also a bit on the high end but again I think totally worth it. I was really hungry for a good Stromboli which I haven't had since Rapollo's closed a few years ago. My son recommended this restaurant for their Stromboli. I decided to give it a try and ordered a small Stromboli. When it arrived, I opened the bag and the container to find a beautiful crust that was golden brown, just the way Rapollo's served. Upon pulling a piece from the crescent I came to find out that the ingredients were 80% cheese and MAYBE 20% meats. I ordered it with sausage, ham and pepperoni which I had a hard time locating. I wish that there was a way to post my photo of this "where's the meat" Stromboli. Just wanna say this is one of my favorite places in columbus! Before, most of the stromboli I've had was all pretty similar and not that different from restaurant to restaurant so I never thought stromboli could be remarkable (which was foolishness), but Carsonie's is next level and made stromboli one of my FAVORITES. Their crust is amazingly crispy and savory on the outside, and soft inside with the perfect crumb. Fillings taste all very fresh and high quality and you just know that who made it understands food to a tee. Owners and staff are all extremely nice and wonderful to talk to, as well! My wife and I went to Carsonies a few weeks ago for lunch. I ordered the Calzone with chicken and black olives and my wife ordered the Stromboli with black olives, mushrooms and onions. They were decent. Both almost had the exact same taste and were very similar. Not a good sign. It took about 25 minutes for our food to come out which is usually longer than most lunch places, but they do warn you that it does take longer than most. The restaurant itself has a cool vibe to it, which is a plus, but the food was adequate. Nothing to really get excited over. If I'm in the mood for pizza/calzones I most likely wouldn't go back, instead I'd go somewhere like Dewey's, Mikeys Late Night Slice or Pies and Pints. read more

Getting fed up with Carsonie's. They used to be great but now they've raised their prices and reduced the sizes. A large stromboli looks like a medium now and they upcharge for extra sauce. Even though they give the same amount of sauce no matter the size. Wouldn't you think you'd give a large more sauce?! My "large" was cut into 13 pieces but you can see on other posts that it used to be 18. So were did the size go? My $2 extra must've gone to the tin foil wrap. Very disappointed. read more
