I wanted to follow-up on this review. Sadly, it's worse. I was doing some filter changes on the car. Easy maintenance but it does require you to remove the tub in the frunk. I opened it up and lo and behold, it was missing the fastener that joins the backer to the windshield washer housing. THEN, I'm removing the fasteners to wash the AC radiator and what do I find stuck on the inside of my bumper? Tools left behind by the "technicians" at CarStar. Ridiculous place. Never go there. They can say, oh, we're so sorry. We strive to do X, Y, and Z. But you fools literally left tools inside the bumper. Do you have any idea how bad that actually is? Jaw-droppingly terrible experience. After I caused some cosmetic damage to my 2025 Toyota's bumper while backing out of my garage, my Geico insurance told me to bring the car to Carstar Fairfax Collision for an estimate. Instead, my car has been there for three weeks. Every time I call, they tell me they're waiting on parts. The car has been in "reassembly" for a full seven days. How hard could it be to source "parts" (which are never elaborated on) for a 2025 Toyota in 2026? After 3 weeks, I still don't know when I'm going to get my car back. Every time I call, an estimator tells gives me a different excuse. DO NOT bring your car here, even if your insurance says to do so! I would have kept driving my car with its cosmetic damage if I knew the alternative was not to be able to use it for such a long time. read more

Follow up to my last review. I was contacted by this place regarding the alleged deductible that they say I owe, which I paid at the time I picked up my car. They screwed up and because of that, they are threatening to put my account into collections. I spoke to someone named Amanda, who was very condescending and then to a man named Ryan that said his title (not owner). I asked to speak to the owner and Ryan smugly told me he was the highest I can go. When I asked again for the owner, Ryan then changed his story, refused to give me his real title, and then said he was the owner. A simple check proved he lied to me. Ryan used several slurs against me indirectly calling me an ass. He pretty much said I lied when I told him the condition my car was returned to me in. These are ugly people with no care for their customers. They are getting reported to the BBB and I will also be contacting my insurance company and letting them know the experience I had on the hope they will not refer business to this company in the future. When I saw that a rock or other random object left a small crack on the roof of my car, I started a claim with my insurance (good thing I keep comprehensive coverage) and picked Fairfax Collision Center since it was close to my office where I could easily drop off the vehicle. That was before Virginia's stay-at-home order. After taking the vehicle in for a quick inspection and estimate back in February I couldn't keep my original appointment to have the service done in March since I was now at home in Arlington. However Fairfax Collision went above and beyond offering to pick-up and drop-off my vehicle to and from my home, making the service as easy as possible for me and my new circumstances. The communication and service was excellent throughout the entire process however their dedication to catering to these unprecedented times is what gives them four stars in my book. read more

When I noticed some slight differences in pre- and post-accident appearance, Byron noted that the difference was that my insurance had requested after market parts be used. He quickly got genuine parts and corrected the situation. They even helped me get back to haymarket after drop off and back to the shop when it was time to pick up!!! Byron and the staff were extremely efficient and I have never had such a fast and smooth experience with any of the other Body Shops I've tried in the last twenty years in my area in Virginia. I took the car (a BMW sedan) in on a Monday. The dent and damage were not major but not small either. He updated me the same day on the status of my insurance approval, and updated me by text each day on the progress of the repair (now that's service). By Wednesday evening (same week), the car was ready for me to pick up. The work was great and unlike another body shop in alexandria I had used last year, I did not have to go back and have them correct a problem with the repair. Back in November, I had the unlucky experience of being rear ended in traffic on 66 - surely one of the most uncommon of events in NOVA. The person who hit me and I both ended up at CARSTAR due to the insurance company as well as my dealer's recommendation. This is actually the second time I've had a vehicle repair done by CARSTAR, so I already knew this would end well. I dropped my vehicle off on a Tuesday afternoon after my Saturday accident, which was still a week sooner than any other body shop in the area could even look at the vehicle. They kept me apprised of the vehicle's status with two weekly text updates, and a weekly phone call with Brian G - who is THE MAN, by the way. Brian is one of CARSTAR's estimators, and he is extremely knowledgeable about cars, and will NOT let your car leave without being in the best condition he can get it to. He truly takes pride in his team's work, and makes sure your car is as good as it was before your accident. All said and done, my repair did take over a month to complete - but as I said to the folks here multiple times, I would rather the job be done right than be done fast. The job was definitely done right. Thank you very much for the two jobs well done. CONSUMER BEWARE! Dropped off vehicle for estimate only. Even wrote it on the drop off paperwork, yet vehicle was held hostage and charged a daily storage fee because MIKE got upset I could not have repairs done immediately. I tried to explain we would be calling back to schedule the work, but MIKE wasn't trying to hear us. He insisted that I signed a piece of paper, which is now MIA, to start repairs. I CLEARLY WROTE ESTIMATE ONLY ON THE PAPERWORK! This vehicle is used for work, that could not be performed because all tools were in the hostage held vehicle. I am a repeat customer, as this shop has previously repaired for us and never had a problem until my convenience of repairing my vehicle was not convenient for MIKE. I was more than happy to pay for tearing down and putting the vehicle back, but then MIKE decided to also charge a storage fee. We were charged almost $1200.00 to get our vehicle back, and had to get a towing service through GEICO to tow the vehicle back to us. The tow truck employees relayed that MIKE was very rude to them also. Huh, must be par for the course there. If I could give zero stars that would be a better rating! CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!! read more

The best experience I've ever had in dealing with a body shop. The staff were very informative about what was going on and happily answered the million questions that I asked them. My car fell off the jack when changing a flat tire and tore off the front bumper and cracked some stuff on the inside. The car looks brand new and the repair job was fantastic. Their customer service is off the charts! The car had been washed and vacuumed on the inside when they returned it. When they told me the car was ready, I asked if they provided a ride service to come get the car. At first they happily offered to come get me, and when I called to tell them I was ready, they said they would be happy to drive the car to me so I didn't even have to come into the shop. I was in the area to grab a quick bite to eat and I remember my friend telling me about collision center that they had great price and they are good and quick. Luckily I pulled up on a weekday and it was raining. Once pulling up I was greeted by Steven and asked which service was needed. I explained to him and then he guided me to the lobby where free coffee was offered. After he was finished he came and told me that everything was done and checked all the fluid in the vehicle and that they were sufficient. He was very friendly and professional. You can tell he won't scheme you like some other mechanics and tells you his honest opinion when asking about which services are required as the mileage adds up. The pros: the damage that was done to my car in the accident was fixed - and fixed well, paint job was good and blended in seamlessly with the rest of the car, and they cleaned and vacuumed the interior before I picked up the car. Nice unexpected touch. Carl was great to deal with - very friendly and trustworthy. The cons: they stole all of the money that I had (accidentally) left in my car - probably about $10-$15 or so (they fished through it and took out all of the dollar bills, quarters and dimes - I guess they thought they were being generous when they left me all the PENNIES), they called once or twice to tell me the car was "ready" but that they still had a few other things to finish up (don't tell me it's "ready" if it's not actually "READY" to be picked up... to me, "ready" = FINISHED), my husband's sunglasses were missing and mine had the lenses busted out of them... They did good repair work, but I guess they do have a few shady folks working there. They've got a sign hanging up in the lobby area that says that they're not responsible for any items that are lost or stolen from your car. Guess that gives them free reign to take whatever they want. Definitely learned my lesson for next time. Ah well... at least I got a free car wash out of it...? read more

I brought my car to Ourisman Toyota for a lift gate issue. They referred me to Fairfax Collision Center to have some body repairs made in order to allow the electronic lift gate to work. I also decided to have the passenger side door painted and repair due to some dings and a scratch. I rely on my car everyday to transport my clients. I received the car back with a lift gate that would not operate. I refused to pay for it until it was corrected and they refused to give me my car back. After much dispute we agreed to pay for the paint and not the lift gate. We brought it back again for them to finish the work on the lift gate and continue to correct the paint (they didn't put the emblem back on and there were bubbles). Once again I received the car back with an in-operational lift gate. They were kind enough to provide me with a rental, but later they refused to pay for it after the fact and 4 months later I am battling with them to get the money credited back to me. Did I mention they put a dent in the drivers side door? On the third try. Same result. I finally gave up. I brought the car home. Drove it to pick up my son where it broke down. I called them and they towed it to their facility. They then said it was nothing to do with them and the car was fine. I picked it up and drove it home. The next day it wouldn't start again. It was towed to the Toyota dealer this time where they saw that Fairfax collision had snapped a battery wire. They fixed it and charged Fairfax Collision. I got the car back again and felt that I had just wasted many hours of work, personal time and $1100. Ironically Toyota fixed the lift gate and it's been working great ever since then. Although I had a wonderful experience with the front desk staff the manager Ryan there is completely ineffective, dishonest and incompetent. I wish I had read the reviews on Yelp! before I brought my car in. read more

The repair took a whole month, customer service could do better by getting in contact with their customers with the status of their vehicle. You as a customer always have to call for status updates even with that they refused to provide updates. One lady was super rude as I grew frustrated with my car being in their shop for so long.They promised they would call you back but never does. I got into a fender bender where my trunk and bumper got messed up. I went to both Fairfax Collision and Pohanka to get a quote on the damage. I've had my car repaired at Pohanka twice before and always thought that they were very good, but a little excessive with what they really had to repair. Same thing with the repairs this time around. Pohanka wanted to repair all the way up the left side of the car which I thought was a little excessive when the repairs looked like the were just isolated to the rear. But that was just from looking at it. I ended up going with Fairfax Collision bc I wanted to try a different place. I almost didn't choose them bc of the Yelp reviews, but I'm glad I did! In any case, I got the car back in great shape...like new! The service was great! I got a call from someone from Fairfax collision just about everyday. I was cc'd on emails from Fairfax collision to the insurance reps. It was super easy and they took care of everything. read more

This "general manager" Ryan is a joker. My car broke down due to prior accident. It wouldn't run, so I had to sign a waiver to let them tow it away and fix the problem. Five days later, I get Ryan on the phone and he tells me that my insurance company will not cover the costs of the problem, and that I will have to pay $200 out of pocket to fix it. He never gave me an estimate of the costs before fixing my car, even after I called them several times during the 5 day span. I asked him why I wasn't given an estimate before they fixed it and his response was that I signed the waiver to let them fix it and that I would not be able to get my car back until the invoice was paid in full. All I wanted was a courtesy call from them to let me know how much it was going to cost before I officially authorized the work. What if costed $1,000 or $2,000 to fix my car? Would I still have been only the hook for the total amount? Ryan was so damn rude. After asking him why i wasn't given a call, he basically gave me an ultimatum...pay for the work or else I would not get my car back. Anyways, I will never go back there again in my lifetime because of this one dude. I'm sure they do good work, but Ryan single handedly makes their customer support awful. UPDATE: I just read Ryan's response below and I can't believe he said that I was rude to his staff and used "vulgar language". If that's the case then I wonder why Ryan called me back to apologize when he did absolutely nothing wrong. Please do not support this business if this guy Ryan is still working there. read more

Very good experience at this center. Mark was fantastic; he took the time to talk to me about my car repairs and what needed to be done, walked me through the estimate, and answered all my questions. I brought my car in at an unfortunate time (around the holidays) but Mark told me that the guys would get it done by the time I returned from visiting family... and he was right. in the last week The worst place to have your car repaired from a minor fender bender or any kind of car accidents . If I had know what I was going to experience with the service with Fairfax collision center in Chantilly, Va I would have never taken my car to be repaired there and I only want to warm others who is considering going there. On Mother's Day weekend In May 2017, I was involved in a small fender bender while visiting my mother in Ohio. I droved the car back home where I live here in Fairfax and asked my insurance company rep to refer some repair shops. I decided to go to FCC in Chantilly to have the repairs done there because it was close to my home, BIG MISTAKE... After FCC having the car for one week and doing the car repairs, they called and said the car was repaired. When I arrived to pick up my car that Saturday morning, I was looking over my car and the repairs FCC claimed to have done, I noticed that the headlight assembly still had a crack on top of it and wasn't replaced, the fender wasn't aligned properly, paint didn't match the rest of the car, passenger side widow would not raise and lower properly, the center piece of the rim the Chevy emblem wasn't replaced, and after driving my vehicle also noticed the wheel alignment wasn't alined, as they claimed to also have done. And after raising my concern to the FCC company rep that morning, he took pictures and told me to bring the car back the following Monday.... I contacted Mr. Ryan Vallegos the regional director of the Chantilly Auto Body group and told him about the issues and concerns that I had and he agreed to meet with me at FCC in Chantilly where repairs were allegedly preformed. After meeting with me that Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Vallejos gave me the runaround about the work being done and the wheel alignment was bad to begin with although I bought 4 new tires and had the wheel alignment done in February, three months prior to the accident. I asked Mr. Vallejos if he was serious, stop lying about the repairs, told him to properly have my car fixed. After leaving the car again, FCC kept the car for over 4 weeks, the window was fixed, emblem on the wheel rim was installed, and the dent under back door passenger side was repaired. But the wheel alignment, fender and hood gap, the paint job was not completed and the headlamp assembly was changed at the last minute, they forgot to change it before I came to pick up my vehicle, what a freaking joke they are... And I need to mention after all the lies and deceitfulness that I experienced from Fairfax collision center staff and regional director of Chantilly, my car brakes and rotors were replaced with old ones, I guess just for them to be spiteful. Its unbelievable, I know but this is what I experience and what had happened to me... This is what you should expect with Fairfax Collision Center of Chantilly, alot of broken promises, lies, car repairs not being done as claimed, wasted time, deceitfulness, ect,.. If you can find someone else to go, I would highly suggest it, but if not be very aware of the repairs that they are doing to your vehicle, make sure that you do not let them fast talk you into doing work and check everything that they do with repairs and what is written as far as work being done. But honestly, I would highly, highly suggest finding somewhere else to go to have your car repaired if you or someone you know is involved in an car accident!!!!! read more

I took my car to their repair with Fairfax Collision Center because of a recent accident where someone hit the back of my car. They repaired the rear door and put a bumper, a process that took them almost 3 weeks. When I got the car back, I saw some scratches on the "new bumper". They took the car back to the body shop and said they will install another new bumper. Two days after, I got the car and I could not believe there were even more scratches than before, all over of the bumper. This is unacceptable.
