Did you ever hear that joke about going out to the bars with your ugly friends so you'll look like the hot one? (I achieve this regularly because most of my friends are pretty gruesome). Well, Cartelligent is like that. I'd spent a few months shopping for a gently used Honda, driving from SF to places like Novato (escaped a bad deal at Marin Ford), Sacramento (got treated poorly by Maita Miata) and Milpitas (I'd avoid Envision Honda) as well as SF Honda and email convos with a few other places. I could give all those places one star but it wouldn't be fair because **all car dealers are about the same**. And if they are all the same, they can't be one star. It's like yelping cesspools. But I digress. Over an adult beverage I was complaining to a friend about my last test drive at SF Honda, where they had a 2025 Civic Si with a $41k sticker. It was still dirty from the trade (gum wrapper in the door handle, ew) and I got the typical sales hustle. My friend said he always used Cartelligent, and connected me with Ethan Sparrow. After learning more about them (they only deal with new cars) I realized I could get a new vehicle for less than the used car lots were asking for 2024s and 2025s. I know, I could've bartered them down but ugh, the energy it requires. And one you catch a salesperson in a lie (pro tip: their mouth is moving) it is hard for me to want to continue to deal with them. At Cartelligent, it only took about 3 short phone calls and a couple emails for me to decide to go for it. After three days, Ethan called and gave me bad news / good news: he couldn't find a viable deal on a 2025 Si. But, he had located a newer 2026 and negotiated a purchase that was within my range, over $5k less than the used car quotes I'd been getting. I OKed the deal, and a couple days later took possession of the new car. Cartelligent even comped me an Uber to their offices! And they handle all the DMV reg and license plate work. The purchase also includes one of their people (shouts to Dylan, knowledgeable AND patient) sitting in the new car with you, patiently explaining all the features you need to know about. (My old car is 20 years old, a lot has changed!) TL;DR: they find you the car you want at a lower price that more than makes up their fee. They communicate well all through the process, and once you make the purchase, they treat you with kid gloves. Ethan says when the license plates come, they'll put them on for me. Cartelligent provides service beginning, middle, and through to the end.

I highly recommend working with Cartelligent! I'm a single woman and have been taken advantage of by local dealerships in the past, so when it came time for a new car, I was dreading negotiating a lease. I had heard of a broker for buying, but never knew I could utilize a broker for leasing. Previously, leasing was a very non-transparent process and it's very hard to negotiate what you can't see. I sent a message on Cartelligent's website having already researched the car I was looking for and was reached out to by Cassie. She walked me through the process and what to expect then called me the following day with a few options and a tax-includes amount for the lease - I was very impressed. When my car arrived to the dealership (about 200 miles from my home in SoCal), Cassie arranged for it to be delivered by truck to the Cartelligent office closest to me. I arrived to my new car, with a bow on the hood, paperwork at the ready, and personalized touches. I signed the lease paperwork that I had been sent beforehand, and the few DMV-related items and was given a tour of the features of the car by Lynette in the Irvine office, then drove off with my new car. I felt very well taken care of by everyone at Cartelligent and have already recommended their service to multiple friends and family. The time, stress, and money I saved was well-worth their reasonable upfront fee. Please consider them the next time you are in the market.

Our new 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5.

We wanted to purchase a 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5, and had taken a test drive with the local Hyundai dealer. The test drive had gone well, but everything went downhill from there with the dealer. We asked them to reserve a car for us, and they said they would do so. The car arrived but was sold to a different customer. Why? They told us that we needed to have completed a lease application to put a hold on a car, but had not told us this. The dealer also tried to fleece us (and I'm sure lots of other customers) by including a $695 charge for what they call "Shadowmark". It consists of engraving the car's VIN number on the windows- supposedly as a deterrent to potential thieves. This VIN number engraving can be done in a few minutes with a $20 kit from Amazon. The dealer said that the charge had to be included because the engraving was done at the factory. That is apparently not true, and based upon what I've read in forums this Shadowmark ploy is common across many Hyundai dealers . We had talked to a neighbor who had purchased a Mustang Mach E from Cartelligent and was extremely happy. So, fed up with the local dealer, we called them and paid $595 for their service sourcing the vehicle and an appropriate lease. Stephen was extremely responsive and helpful, as was Jonathan in Menlo Park who gave us an hour and a half of training on the vehicle when it arrived. I highly recommend Cartelligent, and have nothing but a bad taste in my mouth from our experience with the local dealer. However, we LOVE the car!

How do you handle vehicle maintenance and service after a purchase?

Great question. Every car we sell is purchased through a new car dealership and comes with a full manufacturer's warranty. It can be taken to any local dealership for service regardless of which dealership it was purchased from.

Where do your clients have to be located? Do you help people in the San Fernando Valley?

Our Southern California office helps clients from San Diego to the San Fernando Valley. Our Northern California offices help clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

What is the typical savings from MSRP you do you get with this type of service?

This is really dependent on the car you're looking for and where the market’s at for the vehicle. Long story short, we are looking to secure below market pricing for our clients. In some cases this could be pricing well below invoice, and in others,…

Excellent communication, service, and timely replies. I received a significant discount on the OTD price, even when including the BuySide Auto fee. On top of that, I NEVER had to step into a dealership, talk to a salesperson directly, spend hours playing the "let me ask my manager" game, or have to talk to a Finance manager and repeatedly say NO to unnecessary options. All communication was easily done through email and text, although phone and in-person contact was also available. Process starts with completing a convenient online request. From there, Kim contacted me to fully understand my wishlist, range of optional requirements, and any non-negotiables. After reaching out to their dealer network, within a day she provided a list of potential matches with estimated OTD prices, which included some in SoCal available for transfer to the Bay Area and cars still in production with estimated availability dates. I had a lot of questions and some requests and Kim was very responsive and instrumental in relaying them to the dealer and advocating for me. Even my request to remove all dealer installed options was negotiated by Kim and granted by the dealer with no hassle on my end. I paid the BuySide Auto fee to reserve the car for purchase and when the car was available I opted to pickup at their office in SF. Home delivery to SF is also currently no charge, while delivery outside of the city is available with a modest fee. Upon first contact, I asked if weekend pickup or delivery was available, since their normal hours are on weekdays. Kim made note of it and remembered my preference even after the sale was completed. Chris was able to make himself available for Saturday pickup! We took a walk around the car took a look inside. We spent no more than 10 minutes reviewing and signing paperwork, received my keys, and I was off with my brand new car! Both Kim and Chris were great to work with and I have no hesitation in working with them again for future car purchases.

When we questioned the increase, we were told additional work had been performed. However, no one had contacted us for approval before completing the alleged work. After we pointed out that we had never authorized the additional charges, the extra amount was removed from the bill. Accidents happen. What disappointed me was the way the situation was handled afterward. Damaging a customer's vehicle is bad enough. Providing no compensation for the delay and then attempting to charge for unapproved work turned a mistake into a trust issue. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Worst dealership experience I've ever had…read more My colleague and I visited Ferrari San Francisco with the intention of purchasing vehicles for our company. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, we were not treated with respect or taken seriously. When we asked whether our budget could get us something flashy and visually impressive, the salesperson responded, "You know the answer to that yourself," which felt dismissive and unprofessional. Later, in another part of the dealership, I asked another employee two questions and was completely ignored. When we explained that we were looking for a vehicle to use for marketing purposes for our company, the response was, "Why are you telling me that?" We were also told that no one in sales was available, which I understand can happen, but the overall attitude and lack of basic courtesy were unacceptable. My colleague and I may look young, but we operate a real estate firm managing approximately $2.5 billion in assets. Regardless of someone's age, appearance, race, or perceived status, every customer should be treated with the same level of respect. We ended up driving to Ferrari Silicon Valley/Redwood City and had a completely different experience. The team there was respectful, professional, and attentive, and we are now in the process of closing a deal on two vehicles. I would not recommend spending your money at a dealership where customers are judged or dismissed before anyone even takes the time to understand who they are or what they are looking for. I wish them the best, but this was an extremely disappointing experience.
