Over time, it is possible that, service has deteriorated and one cannot discount the underwhelming experience that people have had. Its a shame for both parties you the customer and the business. Lets say there are 4 techs doing 5 calls a day. That's over 5k calls a year, of course repeat customers, repair trips after diag. So maybe 2500 new customers a year (× 25yrs) Most people don't care or think about a review especially if things go smooth, when things go sideways though, again your upset so lets post that 1 star because you were wronged and that must be the status quo. For sure there are times 1star is deserved and I wont open the can of worms about the multitude of factors that can affect a service call again from both sides. I still hold fast to the idea that most people do not even think about posting. Here on yelp there are 108 at the time of this post. That's 1 week of calls (modest numbers btw). In closing, taking a repair to the finish line is exactly what this small company strives for everyday. Fortune-500 companies absolutely trust them with outsource repairs. If those companies were getting more flak than silence or praise they would be dropped in a heartbeat.
