I reached out to Chuck at Carter Brothers Refrigeration repair for my GE Advantium Micro Convection Oven. The concern was a broken spring in the oven door after a loud cracking noise which caused the door to be very heavy to open and close right after. They had Bill out within hours of the call to take a look. Unfortunately due to the age of the Oven GE no longer was making replacement parts. I was impressed with the speed at which they were able to come out to take a look and I would definitely call them again for service. Bill was very knowledgeable and I appreciated the time he spent to explain the mechanism on these oven doors that are different than a typical oven door making it difficult to repair without the manufacturers part. read more

Do not buy a contract or pre pay for parts or you will never see them again. Over a year+ ago called for work on a sub zero. Got a call back in minutes an a (their only) technician came out that day. Bill (tech) was friendly and did fix my issue. I also needed door seals , which they needed to order and install the following week, all of which came to about $1500, or, I could buy a 5 year service contract covering 100% parts and labor for @$3000. overpriced but feeling good about Bill being a good guy and a quick response, I figured I d give him/them the business (even overpaying ).. huge mistake! Ive tried countless times to get ahold of them for the seals and later for additional repair.. the only way I can get ahold of them (and Ive done the 5 times) is to use a different phone number, at which they respond in minutes, and when they (Chuck, Charles, Carl, whichever name he uses, same guy) ask, do you have a contract with us? Why yes ,I do... "oh....can you call me back tomorrow, im not in the office".. then when I call.... Ring to vmail...mailbox full.. Here is the short. 1. Bill is a competent technician and a nice guy. 2. Never ....under any circumstance pay for anything in advance. No parts, deposit, contract, service fee prior to satisfaction. We are in dispute and have asked that they refund the $1500 service agreement payment.  After leaving many text and phone messages and requesting multiple times - starting within 2 months into this project - that they cancel the agreement and parts ordered (5-year service agreement ($1500.00), we were told we couldn't because the parts were ordered and were in process of being shipped. September 23, 2024, received a quote for repairing our 11-year-old Samsung refrigerator ice maker and door display panel. Hard sell for 5 year extended service contract - $1500.   After 5 months of us repeatedly calling for status and being told they were waiting for the parts which were arriving within 2 weeks (each time was told within 2-3 weeks) we AGAIN said that we wanted to cancel and if they had any parts to deliver them to our home and we would pay for the parts but did not want to have them installed and to cancel the 5 year service contract. The end of January 2025, they left 2 open boxes of parts on our porch but have not provided any receipt or billing for the parts or the refunded the service agreement. We did reach them on March 21, 2025 and spoke with the owner who told said they were at lunch. We asked for the office billing contact and was told and no one was in the office and to call back on Monday. He asked my name and said "I know who you are". We called back on March 25, no answer and no return call. read more

I have had a very bad experience with Chuck Carter of Carter Brothers. It is very similar to several of the 1- star reviews on this site, including lack of responsiveness, multiple lies, not responding to requests for cancellation of and refund of service contract, etc. I contacted the Attorney General's office for Washington State (crc@atg.wa.gov) for assistance in getting a refund due to non-performance. This is the Consumer Protection division. They accepted my complaint . I have since been contacted by them that they could not deliver their inquiry to the address I gave them. I suspect Carter did something like marking the envelope "delivered to wrong address" and sent it back to them. I have now provided the agency with the address of the bookkeeper in California, but I expect Carter will continue to play games and not respond. The only option at this point is for additional disgruntled customers to file complaints with the Attorney General's office. Then they will take further action. Again, please go to crc@atg.wa.gov and file a complaint so we can stop this guy. read more

Whirlpool refrigerator stopped cooling and Carter was able to send a technician out days before their competitors could. They were prompt, came on time, and figured out the problem (fan stopped working). New part was ordered and installed by Carter the same day it arrived. Appreciate their fast turnaround and great communication. read more

In January my upright freezer stoped working. Today I was on my walk and saw a van neorrealista Cárter Brothers refrigeration. Bill was in the van and I asked him if he did freezers. We were having issues with our Samsung refrigerator, and we called Carter Brothers. They have been very responsive given the current state of COVID 19 and other issues. They were able to replace the ICE MAKER and it has worked flawlessly. They have replaced and rebuilt the needed items that had become inoperative. They are friendly and take the time to explain what they are doing. They have been able to resolve all the issues that we encountered. When we were working through the issues, they would respond quickly if issues arose and needed their attention. I would recommend them and stand by their work ethics and performance. read more

I have a large wine refrigerator that is 11 years old that stopped cooling. The company that made it (Avanti) offered 1 local company, though specifically said were limited in the Seattle Area. After calling that recommended company 3 times with no call back I reached out to Carter Brothers. Their website shows a very large variety of products they repair and also their coverage area is very large. When I called I spoke with Chuck, he confirmed they worked on my product and then said he would call me back. In 10 minutes he calls back and Bill arrived shortly afterwards. Bill explained the product and possible reason for it not cooling. He was personable and open to my questions. Additionally with a remodel being in our future gave some great advice. BTW Chuck whom I spoke to when I called I found out was the owner of the company. I highly recommend Carter Brothers and know I will utilize their services again as needed. read more

The man who answered the phone when I called is as rude as they come. The first time he answered, he was chomping on something and could not be understood. So I gave him some time to finish his meal and called back again. When he asked me for a phone number, I wanted to give him my boyfriend's number since he would have been the one at home for the service call. I requested a second to look up the number, and rather than being professional and polite, the guy responded, "How come your boyfriend didn't call?" I wanted to tell him it was none of his business, but instead I told him that my boyfriend is busy at work, and that I happened to have a break before he did to make the call. Then I told him that he was incredibly rude and that I would find someone else. He started saying "Fine . . .," and I hung up before listening to more of his nonsense. I ended up calling Hoskins. The woman who answered the phone was both polite and professional. read more

Our fridge failed. I first tried to schedule an appointment through the certified dealer/repair online, but nothing until the next day. Then I called Carter Brothers and left a message. I received a call back within the hour. Appointment the same day. The repairman came out within the allotted time slot (which was 4 hours lol). Figured out the issue within 5 minutes, installed the broken part within 15 minutes. The fridge was running when he left. It was expensive, but far, far less than buying a new fridge. read more

Fantastic service and responsiveness. We recently had an issue with out 20+ years old Frigidaire freezer. The response and service was terrific. I called them at 1 pm, and had a technician at our house by 3 pm. Bill, the technician, diagnosed the problem quickly, and repaired it in no time. He explained the issue and repair completely. I hope to update this review with more stars. My refrigerator was not as cool as it should be, so I called over the weekend, and Carter Brothers responded within a day, sending a technician to my house Monday morning. He refilled the refrigerant and replaced a relay, for a cost of $400. This seemed relatively high, but I was wiling to pay for the convenience of getting the appliance working again immediately. Unfortunately 3 days later the refrigerator is still not getting cool. At all. It's actually warmer inside the freezer than the room temperature of my kitchen. I gave up and turned it off. I called and left a message early Wednesday morning. I texted the technician Wednesday afternoon. I tried calling again Wednesday evening only to find the voicemail full. Mid-day on Thursday the voicemail is still full and no response from the technician. I don't mean to be impatient, but expect a quicker response from a company that advertises "same day service" and has already taken my money. There is no email or mailing address on the receipt for the work. Only the phone number at which I cannot even leave a message. My advice at this point has to be to look for another company to repair your refrigerator. I imagine (hope?) they will eventually stand by their work, but have no evidence to support my optimism. I would really appreciate a call back. If they cannot complete their repair, I'd like the opportunity to make alternative arrangements, and negotiate the return of my $400 without resorting to reversing the charges on my credit card. read more

My father has an older vino temp wine fridge that was having some issues and was on its way to wine fridge heaven. I looked online to see if there was a vino temp certified service repair shop in Seattle and I stumbled across Carter Brothers. I called in on Monday and they were able to get a tech (Bill) out to me the next day. I also had some condensation and water dispenser issues with my Kitchen aid fridge that they were also able to take a look at. Bill was wonderful and very patient with me. He answered all the questions I had and took time to explain the inner workings of how my fridge worked. He was also able to work wonders on my dads vino temp. I liked how he didn't rush and took a thorough look at the wine fridge. The wine fridge was old and I appreciate how Bill was very truthful and did not suggest any fixes that were unreasonable or pricy. He did his magic and my dad's old vino temp is running again. My wine cellar cooling unit stopped cooling. After visiting the mfg. website for advice and calling around trying to find someone who would work on it I discovered this type of repair is a bit of a black hole. Many companies wont touch these units as they are more complicated due to their specialized application and design. After checking reviews, etc. I decided to call Carter Brothers. They were polite and familiar with the type of unit I had. As luck would have it they were able to get a guy out right away to have a look at it. While the visit cost is slightly more than I am used to for diagnosis, etc. it does apply to the repair anyways so no big deal. Billy showed up within a couple of hours and quickly diagnosed the issue and explained my options. We agreed on a path forward and within another hour he had me up and running. Having read the reviews and doing the research I can say that the expertise and service provided great value. I would not hesitate to use them again for this or any other refrigeration type of repair. read more

The technician arrived on time as previously communicated. Explained what was wrong with our 11 year old refrigerator. Remediated the problem for the short term as we are undergoing a remodel and had a new refrigerator ready to replace it. Didn't try to upsell us for a long term fix that would have meant more money for parts and another service call, knowing that we already had a new refrigerator and just needed the current one to last a few more weeks. My Samsung refrigerator stopped cooling after making noises. I did not know that the fan was blocked by ice. I called at night & Bill came the next morning, diagnosed the problem, acquired the part and installed it. He was professional & friendly. It took almost 4 hours, including driving to get the part. He gave us the price and got our OK before doing the job. He charged a flat rate to install a defrost kit: $763 & tax, rather than giving me a bill itemizing parts & labor. My freezer was not cooling. Saw rating on Angi and called, got reply in minutes from Chuck, he asked a few questions and said I would get a call next morning to confirm arrival of tech. Contacted Carter Brothers for a refrigerator repair as others were 3 weeks out. The quicker response was appreciated but the technician spent a fair amount of time on the web looking for how to repair. His only solution was to rebuild the entire unit for a rough estimate of $1800!! I decided to contact the refrigerator manufacturer and they recommended I call Appliance Mechanics. Their repairman made a quick assessment and ordered replacement parts immediately without the need to rebuild. Their service call was only $100 while Carters was $169 with no reasonable solution to my problem. Guess I should have called the manufacturer or Appliance Mechanics first. read more

We never expected our great old refrigerator to go out as it did a couple of years ago but it did--big time! It needed a new motherboard, which of course had to be ordered. Thank goodness, Carter Brothers managed to find it and get it into our fridge in record time. It's worked great since then, so recently when the icemaker began to act up we called them again and received the same as before: prompt, polite service from a friendly, experienced professional. Well from a service standpoint, they were awesome, The tech that came out was pleasant, knowledgeable, and had our refrigerator up and running in under an hour. What more could you ask for when all the big players (Sears, GE) could not get to us for at least 1.5 weeks and Carter Brothers showed up within hours? A Better price. Their service fee of $99.50 was more than reasonable, but the price for the repair ($0 part and let's say an hour labor at even $100/hr) would have put the price at $150, right? Wrong... $329 ! Now I don't blame the tech, because he was great, but management needs to rethink their pricing structure. I run a small business myself and know you need to make a profit, but my guess for parts, tech person, gas, mileage, vehicle, etc. would not have been more than $100-$110. 50% markup I can deal with but 300%, excessive. If it weren't for the price I would have given them 5 stars. read more

He arrived on-time (early), had the part that I needed and I had a working fridge in less than 30 minutes. While he was doing the repair, he was giving me information about how the parts work and I appreciated that! He could not have been a more friendly and professional guy. The price was comparable and I would definitely recommend them to others with refrigeration repair needs and I will call them again if necessary. Don't waste your time calling these people. I spoke to a man who said they'll call me on a certain day, at a certain time, to give me a window of time they would come to my home. Told me what the upfront charge would be. Never called, never showed up and wouldn't return my call. Hinges on Samsung refrigerator door were bent and door wouldn't stay closed. Hinges were replaced and door operates correctly. Initially, there was some difficulty in determining what repair was needed. Once it was determined that the door hinges were bent, the repair was completed and Carter Brothers service was excellent. The technician was on time, professional and completed the work in a timely fashion. All of the work was completed in a Gig Harbor home, which is out of the Carter Brothers service area. read more

The two stars is because they were very prompt and professional. Bill, who is very nice, came out and looked at my older fridge (21 years) and told me there could be 4 things wrong with it and I'd be looking at up to 350.00 for repairs. You can get a fridge on Craig's list or offer up for that much or far less, it simply wasn't worth repairing for me. My biggest issue is that it was 100 bucks for a five minute conversation. I recently had issues with my old GE refrigerator. I was worried, what would be the repairing cost and was hoping that I do not have to get a new refrigerator, any time soon. I looked up for few options online and found them. It was a relief to get a quick response, and I was able to get same day appointment. The tech showed up on time. He was very knowledgeable, and polite. He got to the root of the issue right away, and fixed the issue, without me having to spend a huge sum of money on spare parts. Carter Brothers charged us some $800 to "fix" our unit, over two visits. It has subsequently been properly repaired under warranty at no charge to us by another repair company that is factory authorized. CB use the logos of many fridge manufacturers on their website and claim to be "factory trained", but do not appear to be a factory authorized repair shop, at least not for Whirlpool group products. The "fix" CB applied on both occasions was simply to recharge the refrigerant in the unit, without making any attempt to trace or repair the causative leak, and their charges for this were excessive by industry norms. We have attempted to contact them, to allow them to correct the situation, but they have not been responsive, even to the point of returning mail. read more
