I wanted to share my recent experience with Gary Carter Moving & Delivery so others can make an informed decision when considering their services versus those of companies that demonstrate high ethical standards. I scheduled the delivery of 85 boxes of wood flooring for a specific time, and Gary personally confirmed that a team would be available to move the boxes into the house and keep them protected from the elements. This was confirmed the Thursday prior to the Monday delivery. However, at the scheduled time, no one arrived. My calls to Gary went unanswered. Later, one of his employees contacted me and explained that Gary had only just assigned the job, was currently on another job, and would not be available for at least another three hours. While the employee who reached out was courteous and professional, the overall experience demonstrated a significant lack of communication, planning, and reliability. Additionally, Gary has not responded to any of my follow-up calls or text messages. Given this experience, I would advise others to use caution when considering this company, as his lack of integrity, honesty, and communication created a difficult and avoidable situation. If Gary chooses to respond, I am happy to share the supporting text message history for full transparency. Of note, this is the first negative review I have ever given. Normally, I am in the camp of if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Not fun at all being negative, but this guy can really put you in a bad spot when it comes to moving. Stay away from this company!!!! I should have read reviews before scheduling a move with them. We were set to have Carter Moving & Delivery move us on 7/2/26. Movers were scheduled WELL in advance, confirmation was made 24 hours before scheduled move time. Morning of the move, no call no show. Called Gary, no answer...so I left a very nice voicemail. Waited 2 hours, still nothing...so I kindly texted asking for an ETA on the movers- no response. I received no curtousey call, no text, email, nothing, informing us that we would not have movers arrive to move us. Only then, did I, myself, have to reach out via phone to a different number, and a guy named Cecil was the one to inform me that "Gary had an emergency and had to leave overnight." Mind you, a phone call or text informing us we would not have movers arriving that day, would've helped tremendously with the predicament THEY left us in. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! If I would have just read the reviews about this company I would've noticed they're known for no call no shows. It's always an "emergency" that happens when they do it too. STAY FAR AWAY AND DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! I have all communications documented. And they can't say I had the wrong number because Gary's text showed "read" when he opened the one from me. Review for Carter Moving and Delivery (05/30/25) My experience was disappointing. The movers showed up early, which seemed like a good start, but I later found out one of them was more focused on getting to his niece's graduation. One mover said they could finish the job in an hour, even though I paid for two hours and asked if they could stay within that timeframe--they said yes. They went over by 10 minutes, and instead of calling or texting me directly, Gary just charged me for another full hour. I was moving across the country and didn't have time to argue, so I paid it, but the lack of communication and professionalism was frustrating. Poor service. Cecil helped us move out of a third floor apartment on one of the hottest days in May. They showed up early, and were done within an hour when it would have taken us a full day to get all of our stuff into the U-Haul pods. We unpacked the pods today after a cross county move, and it was amazing to see how efficiently the pods were packed! It made unloading easy. Would definitely recommend! read more

If I could give a negative star I would. Made an appointment on Oct 8 for a storage unit move on Nov 2. As the date came closer I reached out on Oct 28 to confirm my appointment. I didn't get a reply so I reached out again on Oct 29 and they replied with "Confirmed 9:00 am". On move day I arrived early to the storage unit. After waiting 30 minutes for them to arrive I reached out asking if they were just running late. No reply. I then informed them that I would wait a bit longer and to please reply and let me know if they were coming or not. Nothing! They never showed up and I never received a reply or call. The very least a company could do is call and let you know they either screwed up or the workers are sick or they forgot or just something. Heck, lie to me, I don't care but do something! I'm sitting there waiting for the movers. So incredibly irresponsible, rude, and disrespectful. I let him know his crew damaged my floor and also damaged my table but he chose to block my number. I wanted to discuss a resolution but I assure you i did not ask for a refund. Look at his other reviews on google where someone had other issues as well where Gary proceeded to block the client. I'm not sure why Gary waited months to respond with complete lies to my review but I definitely recommend everyone to avoid his company's services. Gary, post the pictures your crew took with the time stamps showing to be before the job was done if you aren't lying. I tabled this issue and let it go but since you're falsely accusing me, rest assured you will be hearing from me in small claims. Revisiting this issue and presenting lies was a mistake. And if you truly have pictures from before, you can present them to the judge. Your crew member told me my dresser was damaged by the prior movers because they were sliding the furniture. I watched your crew member slide my furniture on its legs and break it. I didn't push this issue as hard because your crew member told me a story about Gary's actions during a prior dispute that made me worried for the safety of my family. Did a great job loading the truck, very friendly, but they made the critical error of not strapping in the back row of boxes in the truck! After the first leg of our trip, we opened up the truck and the top two rows of boxes had fallen against the inside of the door and crushed some of the boxes below. I had made ratchet straps and bungies available to the crew, so I don't know why they neglected to do this. read more

We were on a 1 way street as this person in the Honda decided to go in the opposite way of traffic just to get around and was very rude about it as the person they were trying to follow was in a u haul just one car ahead of us just a mile ahead just before the road turned into a two way road. I didn't want any further damage to the boxes. he said I better watch the way I talk to him. told him get out of the truck and off my property. he refused and instead started advancing info on me and making threats of physical harm. said he lived near by and he was going to come back and get us. told him leave again he refused and continued to cuss and threaten us so I called 911. He left and the officer showed up and made a report. Contacted the owner Gary Carter. he immediately defended his employee and refused to even listen to what I had to say. We wanted to do an internal move (some things to the first floor, some to the second floor) but it turned out one of the major pieces would not fit through the second floor door, and could not be disassembled without breaking it. Gary had gone above and beyond to rearrange his schedule to make it work for us, but unfortunately, we had to cancel. We moved to Houston from Boerne and hired movers from Carter moving for 6 hours starting at noon. We booked them a month in advance. They started by being late, no big deal, the mover contacted us and said they would have to be there at 4:30 at the latest... both the mover, as well as Gary, the owner, confirmed with me. Well, come 4:30, still no movers. I called Gary at least 5 times, as well as the guy who was supposed to be coming to move us. I never heard back from Gary or the mover. Still have had no responses. No calls back to reschedule for the next day. We were moving a four bedroom house. I would never recommend this company, and my 10 family members and friends who ended having to help us would agree. read more

I would give these guys 10 stars if I could. Carter Moving was an amazing experience (who says that about moving??)!!. Pros (and there are probably so many more): - Constant communication - Knowledge on vendors they were working with on my move, and how to get things done - Experts in properly moving my furniture and belongings -- deliberate, thorough, and careful - Took responsibility for the move, even for parts they did not need to - Nice, fun team! Gary, Brad, and team went out of their way to make my move work when so many things that were my fault and another vendors' went wrong. I was scheduled for a Friday morning move, but changed the night before due to a logistical issue. Carter Moving was booked full on Saturday and Sunday but agreed to move me on Saturday late evening after they completed their other jobs. Only problem, I was using another vendor for shipping containers and the vendor did not have the containers ready when Carter showed up Saturday evening to pick them up (even though the vendor had the correct date, time, and a work order number and Carter had previously called to confirm preparedness). Carter and I then rescheduled to Sunday evening, again after Carter completed their other jobs. During the entire rescheduling and move process, Gary and Brad managed everything. They handled the shipping containers, making sure the containers were ready for pick-up on Sunday. They stayed in CONSTANT communication with me via phone calls and texts. They showed up Sunday evening with a large crew (probably all their guys in the general area) so they could be thorough and careful, yet quick as possible since it was already very late in the evening. They explained all that they were doing while at my place. They had me carefully check the containers prior to taking them back to the vendor location for final moving out of state. And they were smiles, happy, and extremely professional the entire time. read more

Can't give NO STAR. The worst possible experience in a local move from a U-Haul storage to an apartment. They ran way over the estimate and one of the helpers was using his phone and had to be told to answer your Facebook on your time. On top of the overcharge and long hours, they lost a full basket of my dress shoes. They remember it and remember putting it on the truck. They even came to my apartment to search for it... GONE! I filed a police report and have asked for an invoice and also to reimburse me for the $500.00 deductible I had to eat. No response and no help. Movers were supposed to be at my location at 9 a.m. They didn't show up until after 2 p.m. Most of the things got in the right places, but they did NOT follow my instructions on how to load my 12 x 20 storage shed. They stacked all the boxes in the back and to the top of the shed. I didn't catch it at the time because I wasn't able to walk my property due to a physical imparement. When I did catch it, I immediately called and spoke with Gary Carter who hung up on me and wouldn't return my calls or emails. When he finally did email me, he obviously hadn't read my emails because I addressed all his excusses for not helping me. He just really didn't care. I selected this company through the Moving Help company that works with the U-Haul U-Box segment of the company. While my overall U-Haul experience left a lot to be desired, CARTER MOVING and DELIVERY were the stars of this show! Gary Carter, the owner, came through and saved my move when it came time to unload my boxes. He is highly professional (personally called me less than 5 minutes after I placed my request to have his company do my U-haul move). He gave me a window of time when they could come and most importantly, how quickly the job would get done. He had everything done completely as promised--twice as I called him for a second order. This is the most professional moving team that I have ever experienced! Considering I have done 3 local moves in Los Angeles and one interstate move to Texas in the last 3 years- this is saying a lot. When it comes to moving, I can't say enough good things about Gary and his crew. This is a solid, stand-up team that's definitely worth hiring and recommending to others! This company is supposed to be insured, and I don't think they are. Hire them at your peril. I hired this company through UHaul's movinghelp.com because I'm old and fragile and can't lift anything over 25 pounds, and they were horrible. He sent me a couple of clowns who didn't know how to load a truck, and as a result, just about everything they touched was either damaged or destroyed. They even piled tall things at the back of the truck so I couldn't see what was inside. I had purchased 8 ratchet straps and rented 10 packing blankets. They never used a ratchet strap and only 2 of the blankets. I had moved into the place using a 20' truck, and hadn't purchased anything since. When moving out, I had a 26' truck, and they couldn't fit everything in it, so I had to leave a couple of porch chairs behind. On top of that, the 2 guys (I can't call them movers) lied to the owner of the company when I complained about the damage, saying that I FORBADE them to load the truck. If I had been physically able to do what those clowns claim, I wouldn't have had to hire the company in the first place. I then filed a complaint with the BBB and Gary lied to them, too. At first, I just wanted his company to repair or replace the major damage. For example, I had recently reupholstered my sofa, and his "movers" put two holes in it. I have a pair of Infinity Studio Monitor speakers and there are gouges nearly a quarter inch deep in both of them. But, since he refused to offer anything other than a refund, and lied to the BBB, I am hiring an attorney and am going to sue them for every single scratch, dent, crack, and anything else my attorney can conceive. Houston, Texas to Hutchinson, Kansas Move January 2017 I just had the pleasure of working with Gary, of Carter Moving Company in Houston, who was recommended by the U-Haul site. What a great experience! I was immediately contacted by Gary, the owner, who asked for details of the move, and made recommendations on pre-preparing so his team could wrap, and secure my father's household goods for a 700 mile move from Houston to Kansas. I would be the one driving a 26" U-Haul pulling an enclosed 6x12 trailer. Anthony and Nate, Gary's team, arrived on time, and immediately started wrapping all of my dad's furniture, in rented U-Haul blankets, and shrink wrap. I heard that these two had been working together for 4 plus years, and it really showed. The attention to making sure the glass cabinets, the leather furniture, the formal dining room, and many, many miscellaneous tables and storage cabinets was amazing. Every one of the 72 blankets I rented, and two dozen that I had bought were used, along with three 1000' rolls of stretch film. The actual wrapping took place prior to loading the truck. Recommendation - Rent blankets - they're cheap, and buy plenty of wide shrink film - it's also cheap at Home Depot or Uhaul. Give these guys the tools and they will protect your belongings. In addition to the furniture, we had 125 plus Home Depot moving boxes prepacked for the move, many with glass collectibles and many odd shaped things, 40 or so years of owning a home had collected. The wrapping took as long as the loading itself, and when it came to loading the truck, these guys were true artists. Every inch of the truck and trailer were loaded, the layers of furniture and boxed goods resembled a jigsaw puzzle. By the time they got the truck loaded, all of the heavy items, and many of the boxes were on board. The move included a safe, a piano, washer, drier, and refrigerator. A very big refrigerator. We saved the trailer for more boxes, a couple pieces of furniture, and some of the odds and ends. Now the good news, after 14 hours of driving straight through, a day of rest, and a new unloading crew in Kansas, when I hesitantly rolled of the door of the truck, not a thing had moved. Same with the trailer. Even with the terrible roads just getting out of Houston, and many bumps, curves, and stops along the way, not a thing had shifted... The end result was amazing. No broken glass, no damaged furniture, (well one small piece of trim held on by two brads that I pushed right back in), and no scratches, my dad - the perfectionist was happy. I highly recommend Gary and Carter Moving. Gary has my contact info for a reference if needed. A professional team, Gary stopped by twice in the 8 hour day to check on his guys, and to make sure they were on track. Both Nate and Anthony nailed it on professionalism and politeness. A few recommendations; Buy enough shrink film and several rolls of packing tape, rent a lot of blankets ($10 a dozen), and buy these guys lunch. Walk them through your house, and let them deliver. I did, and was I ever impressed. Gary told me they also would have driven the truck if I wanted. Final piece of advice, be patient, you want the moving team to be careful and methodical at loading the truck. They are experts, let them perform! I am so impressed with these guys, that I am going to leave this review across several websites that I initially used, before I found Carter Moving.
