Scott Kay jewelry is known for its unique black antiquing -- a design element that is embedded into the metal and requires professional, careful handling during cleaning. If not done properly, the antiquing is stripped away, ruining the piece. I've had them clean these pieces in the past without issue -- until now. My wife brought them in recently for their annual cleaning. She made it explicitly clear to the person behind the counter that these were Scott Kay pieces and that the antiquing must not be removed. She was met with a dismissive "yeah, yeah, yeah" attitude, and despite the clear instructions, they went ahead and completely botched the job. They destroyed the bracelet. The antiquing was stripped away, the finish is now tarnished, and the piece looks absolutely nothing like it should. When my wife confronted them -- visibly upset -- their response? "We're no longer a Scott Kay retailer," and a half-hearted offer to maybe "try reaching out to someone" who could help. No real apology. No offer to take ownership. Just a shrug and a weak "there's probably nothing we can do." This was 100% their fault. They never should have accepted the bracelet if they didn't have the capability to handle it properly -- and now I'm left having to track down someone to recondition the piece and pay out of pocket to fix their mistake. Absolutely irresponsible and unprofessional behavior. This jeweler clearly doesn't understand or respect the value of the pieces trusted to them. If you care about your jewelry, especially high-end designer pieces, take them somewhere else -- somewhere that will listen, treat you with respect, and most importantly, not destroy your property.

I recall working with Jim, who has since opened his own Stardust in Mendon. His father Rick still owns the original. I don't think that Rick would be proud of my most recent experience. And yes, i am one of those customers who is so upset that I feel compelled to write a review. My wife went down with her ring and the EGA cert. we received back in 2003. She chose to drive the 90 minutes simply because we could not get anyone to answer the phone. Very strange but I came to understand the owner (Rick) was having health issues and they were understaffed. Once she arrived, she was told that her diamond was not real. The person she was dealing with (Vee) asked her is the ring had ever been out of her sight and then proceeded to take the ring outback (out of her sight) to clean it. After 4 cleanings, she came back and said that she was wrong and that the diamond was real. Too late. For my wife, the damage had been done. She left in tears thinking the ring she had been wearing for 20 years was fake. Not a good look for me. When I bought the ring, there was a trade up program in place. Since Rick was not around, no one there knew anything about that and seemed unsure of the details around it. In the end, they came back and said if I spend double what I spent originally, I would get half off up to $5,000. My receipts from the first upgrade contradicted that. my understanding is it was 20% more than the original stone but again, no Rick, no idea. I heard from Cole, Rick's son the following week. He apologized profusely and after a 15 minute chat, I thought we were making headway. Cole told me to text him any time and that he would reply. I did, he never replied. I called 10 times over the next week. Never got a person to answer a phone or reply to their text messaging system. In fact, I am texting them an calling them right now to confirm they do not answer the phone or reply to texts. Confirmed!! So I drove down there yesterday, 90 minutes each way. Cole stuck me with the same Vee who speaks broken English at best (no offense but when you're already upset about the quality of service, you hope someone will go the extra mile. Cole chose to go hide behind the partition and let Vee deal with me. In the end I left. I chose to spend more money to buy my wife a brand new ring that trade in my ring with Stardust. While this decision might cost us $5,000 or more since I am getting nothing for my trade, I am happier knowing I don't have to deal with them again. And I can say that I'm in sales and if I heard that from one of my customers, I would feel like a complete failure. So in the end, Stay away from Stardust in Framingham. You will have better luck going to Stardust in Mendon and working with Jim. Rick - I hope you see this and figure things out for your store.

I think the highlight of Euro Design is working with Isabella and Michael, the wife and husband duo that own and run the store. Isabella is incredibly equipped for her sales role. In my opinion her priority is that you're getting a ring and stones that are not only exactly what you're looking for, but also the appropriate value. I never felt like she was trying to push a sale or an upcharge -- she even suggested that I opt for a lab diamond with a slightly lower grade than "perfect", as the higher grades can sometimes look too artificial. We worked together to figure out the metal type and stone clarity and quality that gave me the look that I wanted but that was also within my price range. Today, when I went in to pick up some jewelry, there were three large dogs..two approached me and one barked loudly. I told Lisa that I was uncomfortable and she ignored me and didn't call to the dogs. I asked if she could move them and her response was, "Where should I move them to?" It is clearly the owner's right to have the dogs in the store, but I will not return. I don't need to feel threatened and have my concerns disregarded. She simply could have come out from behind the counter and called to the dogs. Instead, I left feeling uncomfortable.
