I'm writing this as a warning to anyone considering Carvana with a trade-in that has negative equity. I purchased a vehicle from Carvana and financed through my own lender (USAA). I traded in a vehicle that was upside down, with the negative equity rolled into the transaction -- which I fully understood and accepted at the time of purchase. However, shortly after delivery, the vehicle exhibited a material mechanical defect that was not disclosed. I immediately notified Carvana and requested a return within their return window, which Carvana agreed to. Here is where the process completely broke down: Although the vehicle was returned, Carvana had already paid off my prior lender as part of the trade-in. Carvana is now attempting to leave me responsible for approximately $8,000 in unsecured negative equity for a vehicle I no longer own -- despite the return being caused by an undisclosed defect. Front-line representatives repeatedly fell back on "as-is" language, despite Carvana advertising a return policy and limited warranty that clearly contemplate defects. Requests for a full financial unwind and executive-level review were met with resistance and circular arguments, even after escalation. To be clear: I am not disputing that negative equity existed. I am disputing being left with unsecured debt after a transaction that was rescinded due to a vehicle not as described. Carvana's return process is marketed as simple and consumer-friendly, but that promise does not hold up when a trade-in with negative equity is involved. Customers are not adequately warned that returning a defective vehicle can still leave them with thousands of dollars of debt and no car. I am currently awaiting executive resolution. Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend Carvana to anyone trading in a vehicle with an existing loan. read more

The absolute worst car buying experience I have ever been a part of. Car bought, contracts signed, insurance put on vehicle - the whole 9 May 4the and 5th. "Get it by May 10th" is what we were told. May 9th comes - we were delayed. No information as to why. I tried chatting with an 'advocate', who was short and abruptly ended the chat. I called and spoke to a nice woman who told me it was a 'cosmetic issue'. No further info. I asked, "what wasn't disclosed? Like a house, don't you have to disclose major issues or get reported to the AG?" No info. We go ahead and sign the new contracts and wait. Our new date - May 16th. I take off of work for that day. We get everything ready to go. May 15th, I get a text saying "we're on track" and to get everything ready. We do. At 2am, I get an email saying we were delayed again. No explanation. New date, May 22nd. I read over the contracts again. I notice that the website/app shows 83k miles on the vehicle. Weird, because I distinctly remember 82k. It's verified on my original contract. I call. It takes me 2 people to find out they say they "don't have a key to the vehicle". That's a lie, I say. I ask how they moved the vehicle. No answer. I get set up with the "Executive Resolutions Team". I am told it was, indeed, the key was gone. Interesting, since l know for a verified fact it takes 20-30 minutes (max 45) to flash a new key fob. Less than an hour is now costing me another week. The ERT guy says, "the mileage is due to test driving and running it through our inspections". I ask, "do y'all do those just prior to getting it ready to go?" "Yes," he says. "Now, I want you to follow me here - wouldn't you need a KEY to be able to do all of that?" "Yes", was all he would say. I have paid delivery fees. I have paid the additional fees to have it delivered to my home. I have been approved for the loan. I have paid a down payment, which wasn't required. I put it on my insurance, where it has now been for 2 weeks. No car. Through no fault of my own - Carvana has made this a horrible experience. This is an understatement - as the words to describe how truly bad this is, don't exist. The advocate assigned to me by the ERT was supposed to call me today (May 17) at 13:00, my time. He did not. I gave him an hour and then called. I spoke to someone else who wanted me to relay the story again. I refused to. I have told it to at least 8-10 of their people. They need to take better notes. They need to communicate better. Just so everyone is aware, the contract states "delivery dates are estimates...". It is in small print, at the bottom of one of the innocuous pages. I have very vocally informed them that that does not hold up. It is not anywhere on their website or app. A reasonable person would have a reasonable expectation that "Get it by Monday" ", would mean you are getting it by Monday barring extenuating circumstances (torrential rains and hail, tornados, etc). As a matter of fact, Amazon just had something similar go down with them in the past year or so. Ilocated and began writing the CEO, and will continue to do so. I did the same thing to Home Depot a couple of years ago when they refused to help with something they sold. Eventually, the problem was handled - but I had to fight for it. I have written a review similar to this for the BBB of Tarrant County. I have made posts on X, TikTok, and Facebook. I will continue to do so. This has been an epic failure. I am not the only one this has happened to, either. Others have told me how they have done the same thing to them - delaying in some case for two months and holding on to their money. They are the type to say they're over staffed. But have one employee doing 200 plus cars a day. Then get mad when they are behind. They are the type to throw a pizza party but only for mangers. I love the car I got but they will not register it. The chatbot and the 800 number haven't been real effective for getting this resolved, so time to escalate. Since you won't provide me with plates I had a front one made. The banner is coming soon to your customers' line of sight. Will it be at the dealership? Will it be parked outside the tax office? Y'all sold me a mostly electric car with great air conditioning, so I'll be sitting in it somewhere that my banner will have the desired effect on your business. Worst car buying experience I have ever had and I have been buying cars for over 50 years. Car was delivered filthy and less than a half of tank of gas. The "advocate" who delivered the car couldn't even tell me if the oil had been changed. I found numerous issues with the vehicle that had not been disclosed prior to purchase. When I started the online purchase process it said it would be delivered in two days. When I completed the process it then said a week and a half. We were supposed to receive our son's car on his 18th birthday and arranged our whole work day around it. On the day of delivery, we got a call 5 minutes before our window started from Blue Mound to let us know that we won't get the car until Thursday due to some "logistic issues". We finally received the car, all seemed fine until day 6 when the check engine light came on. This is a 2013 Ford Mustang GT with only 23k miles on it and the O2 sensors were throwing a code. We took it to warranty provider who told us that the warranty servicer, Silver Rock, had denied the claim as the exhaust had been modified! Carvana did not disclose that the exhaust had been modified nor did they disclose any check engine lights illuminated during inspection. On another note, their inspection process is horrible. The engine bay looked like it hadn't been cleaned since 2013. I highly, highly encourage you to go to the dealership instead of using Carvana. We do have one day to return or exchange the car but our trade in is gone so we're stuck. Our son is so excited for this car and it's unfortunate, but Carvana should be held to a better standard when selling cars that have modifications that can't be seen in photos. read more

Was employed at Carvana in Blue mound Texas for five years and couldn't endure anymore lack of complete structure, common sense, respect of persons and lack of accountability to actually employing licensed qualified technicians to diagnose, inspect and work on these cars. They lie when they say qualified technicians have checked these cars. They fired all licensed mechanics and replaced them with people of no certification and have managers in every position that knows nothing about cars. The paint dept is the only qualified department with true knowledgeable staff. The HR staff are so out of line and bully you along with others. I initially enjoyed the process but it's one problem after another. 1. First, no floor mats and the salesman said he would order, then I was told it was on me to order and submit for maximum reimbursement of $100 despite mats costing more! 2. I requested the second key and again and was told it was on me to get another key. 2nd key is a given should something go wrong. Low and behold 2 weeks and my key wasn't working and again told it was on me to goto dealership and get it fixed! 3. Lastly, my car was registered in the wrong county and again its on me to get it fixed! We went through purchasing a car from Carvana. Our delivery date was April 7th. It was delayed several times and we finally had the car delivered on May 28th. We requested the car to be refinanced through our bank and they wouldn't do it because the car was way over NADA value. We called Carvana and they said they use KBB and it was priced fairly. We looked at KBB and that is a lie. The car is actually priced $2,000 more than KBB lists as Fair Market Value and then they added $2,000 in taxes when it should only be $800, or so. We have called Carvana and they are refusing to help. I wanted people who may be looking to purchase from Carvana know that they will rip you off. The vehicle was supposed to get a 150 point inspection but I took it in to a Lexus dealership to check it out. They found a leaking front passenger boot. If they had actually did the inspection they would have found the problem. It will cost me $800 to fix. Stay clear of Carvana. read more

Had an incident with a coworker calling me a couple of names after doing no such thing to him and was told HR was not informed about that situation and needed to go home. They have a terrible employee system for keeping track of time and approving scheduled time off ect. Management approves anything to get through to make their weekly numbers close to 840 cars/ week and will let cracks in glass through, pet hair, bad smelling vehicles, cut up seats and nasty interiors though. If I could give them negative stars I would. We purchased a 2016 Honda Civic November 28th 2021. The car was supposed to be delivered December 2nd at 4:30 Pm. We received notification on the 1st that it would be delayed to the 4th at 1 pm. We logged on to the app and it then showed 7-8Pm. We called and spoke with a gentleman named Steven who claimed he spoke with the delivery driver and the car was set to be delivered at 1. Literally 2 minutes later we get a call from the delivery driver stating that the car had been damaged during transport and it would be delivered at the earliest the 13th. We called customer service after this call to see what could be done regarding finances because we were required to have active insurance on the car based on the documents received effective December 2nd. was told that my request to have the delivery fee and the daily refund per their standards due to delays would have to be reviewed by a supervisor and that I would receive a call within 24-48 hours. I never received that call... I called three separate times to get information on my request for compensation, again request photos of the damage and an update on the repairs of the car and were once again guaranteed a call by a supervisor. The first girl I spoke with said she would call me back in 1-2 hours... I waited 3 and never heard from her so I called again. The second person i spoke with today guaranteed me a call from a supervisor named Aaron before the end of business today. Once again that call never came. I called for the third time today and was advised that said Aaron had already left for the day (what a joke) and have been told that I will receive a call from a supervisor tomorrow. I asked if we could go see the car that is supposedly at the hub 12 miles from our home and was told I would have to clear that with a supervisor when i speak to them Not holding my breath on that one. They have received your check for the car and negotiated that item. You are not holding up Your end of the contract that has been signed twice - we are waiting on the third one because the deliver date has changed again. If you want to get the run around and pay for a car that they 1) couldn't locate for a few days 2) damage and expect you to pay the same price for 3) pay for a car you can't even get, then I would definitely recommend this joke of a company. read more

I processed my car and account , was told that my car was on hold for 24hours and that someone had to verify my documents one more time and that they would contact me the next day. Welll... the next day turned into a full 7 whole days I did not hear from anyone , I did not receive an email or anything. I had to reach out to them about a car that I want to buy , what kind of company does not want to sell cars and does not contact the customer back when said they will. After, I finally spoke with them they sold the freaking car I wanted to get and they said they had on hold. After five months and two temp tags (the second set is illegal in Texas), I am finally told they don't have title to the car they sold me. After much complaining on my part, they offered to buy it back for what I paid, plus an additional $500 if I selected something else. The car went up in value $6000 in the five months they've been jerking me around on this title. This car was a graduation gift, so it has to be replaced. How is this fair? If they were to buy this same car back, they would pay me $3000 more than I paid for it. But since I never really owned the car, they act like I am trying to steal from them. REALLY??? We ordered a vehicle from Carvana back in September and did almost all the paperwork online. The delivery truck broke down, so we had to wait over a week to pick the vehicle up from the Dallas location. Although most people are excited and impatient to receive a new vehicle, this is understandable. The big problems started when we picked the vehicle up. When we finally got to see inside the vehicle (not just online pictures), the display screen was cracked pretty bad. We decided we could replace it, so we drove away. Within the week, we noticed something was wrong when turning while pressing the brake. We live four hours away, and it's our only vehicle, so we couldn't just return it within the seven days they give. The vehicle also needed an oil change with lights going off just a little over a week after purchase. I don't believe the vehicle was inspected by the company to make sure everything was okay before they listed it for sale. Now it has been three months since purchase, and we still have not received license plates. We have called several times and had to go to the DMV to pay for new temporary plates and will have to again very soon. They just keep telling us our license plates are in the mail. On 9/10/21 I located a car on the Carvana website - 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe - beautiful vehicle, low miles, great price. So, I started the process of purchasing it - got the financing with my bank and provided Carvana with all of the necessary documents for a 9/10/21 delivery - it was downhill from there. 9/10 delivery missed - tropical storm, unable to drive the transport truck - I totally understood that. The next delivery date 9/15 - delayed again; 9/19 - delayed; 9/20 - delayed; 9/25 - delayed; 9/27 - delayed - each time I called, I was on hold for over 30-45 minutes, many times the call was disconnected when the rep answered. Every time - same excuse - "logistical issues" Finally after the last dreaded, all-to-familiar, delivery delayed text, I called - the rep actually said, "I'm going to level with you, we cant find your car" - so, Carvana sold me a car, lied to me repeatedly about the status of it, so I decided to cancel the sale. Previously, I had been promised compensation of over $325 for my inconvenience and the cost to rent a car, etc. I was told when I canceled that I would not receive that money since I didn't buy a car! YOU MEAN THE CAR YOU SOLD ME THAT YOU DIDN'T HAVE, buy a car? I am furious - I would NEVER recommend Carvana to anyone, EVER. The rep offered to help me find another car with them - SERIOUSLY? Thankfully, the money was returned to my bank, and was able to locate a similar, less expensive Santa Fe. To top it all off, the car they lost is back on the Carvana website for sale. FRAUD! This company sucks really bad I worked here for 6 months when I got hired I asked if they were felony friendly they said yes that wouldn't be a problem so they hired me after working there I see how their cars are treated and what they do to them a lot of them get passed through and stuck online with a whole bunch of crap Dental some of them even still look terrible and smell really bad they try and push their employees to do 840 cars a week and if they do not hit that goal they get really mad at the employees for not doing so they'd rather have cars than take care of their employees if you are late for work or caught by a train you get pointed for it you can't help everyday things that happened once you receive so many points they supposedly terminate you but yet there are people there that do nothing but sit in cars and drive around all day and get paid for it just terribly wrong what people are actually working I was a great worker at the time that I was employed with them I would recommend not working for this company at all they are terrible employer their staff is not that great the management is terrible and does not care about their employees that is the great thing about a corporate company they don't care about anything but money I hope this review helps a lot of people right knowing what they are buying or why they are going to work read more
