Place had great vibes with live music and lake views. The musicans were outstanding, playing a variety of classics and there was plenty of outdoor and patio seating with a cozy, long fire pit. A couple things that docked this place right out the gates was that they had no beer on draft (apparently it's been gone since Covid), and there's a $10 split plate charge. As far as the food quality goes, I found it to be quite mixed. The crab cake appetizer was outstanding, slightly crispy packed with flavor. The stuffed avocado was awful, poorly presented and just looked like a handful of ingredients were slopped together, super heavy on the bbq sauce and the pork was cold. The bread they start you with is the best you'll have, so soft it feels like you're eating g a cloud. The filet mignon medium rare was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning and char, was easily one of the best steaks I've ever had. Chewing was effortless, and bite melted in my mouth. The lettuce in the wedge salad was nice and cold, though a bit drenched with the tossed dressing, served in a chilled bowl. The ribs had a nice smokey flavor, not quite fall off the bone but still had some tender pieces. The scallops were way too salty but the bed of rice it was served with was creamy and delicious. As far as deserts go, the butter cake took the cake. It was warm, soft with a huge scoop of ice cream on top. The chocolate cheesecake is huge, kind of like a mini cake, and was also very popular. It could easily be shared across 4-5 people. The service had its ups and downs. I wasn't too happy about them needing to be flagged down for water refills. Our server spilled two full drinks on a couple people in our party, but he was very apologetic and immediately brought a load of napkins out. I was a bit bothered that a couple of the remaining $18+ cocktails on the tray that were partially spilled were still served and charged to the bill, especially since most of the cocktails were light pours to begin with. The Manhattan tasted like it was made by an amateur bartender, made with way too way too much bitters which completely masked the bourbon. Steiner Ranch Steakhouse is the premier fine dining destination on Lake Travis and it's amazing anytime and especially when the lake is full of water. The last two times Ive been is with a company event, once in the evening and once at lunch, and everything was amazing at night with drinks on the balcony overlook and dinner with an amazing menu of prime steaks and fresh seafood plus extraordinary sides and salads with well appointed service appropriate for fine dining. The lunch event was equally well done with the incredible views and food and wine that was superb for the holiday event along with cocktails that were celebrated by all. My only observation is that the spot is small.. unless you go there as soon as they open, it just becomes a cluster mess of people. I finally made it to Steiner Ranch Steakhouse and I am definitely going back. We were celebrating my birthday and made a reservation for 11:30. We got there a bit early, but our table was ready with a birthday message and we had a beautiful view overlooking Lake Travis. Our waiter, David, explained the setup and was very attentive during our meal. The brunch buffet had so many options from breakfast, lunch, and a carving and omelet station. I appreciated that the staff served you and kept the lids closed from a safety standpoint. All the food was delicious especially the huge pancakes, fresh pasta salad, and prime rib. My piece of advice is that gratuity was included for us, which was a group of four. I've never had that happen so be aware. We were scheduled to have a brunch at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse overlooking scenic Lake Travis. We had an all-you-can-eat buffet. First, as you drive up the hill to reach Steiner Ranch Steakhouse you take in the beauty of the Texas hill country. Steiner Ranch Steakhouse sits at the top of the hill with scenic panoramic views. The building has a country feel with a Santa hanging off a pole on the outside entryway. Also, on the side of this building is their XS smokehouse. When you walk inside you experience true Texas flare - from the saddles sprinkled throughout the restaurant to Texas furniture and wall hangings. At the entry, in the spirit of the holidays, was giant cowboy toy soldier. It certainly embraces the theme that we do everything big in Texas. The food...the buffet is divided into four main sections 1) made to order omelets (beware: no egg whites) and carving station (ham, turkey, pork) 2) Main entree - mash potatoes, King casserole, meat balls, breads, etc. 3) Breakfast foods - pancakes, biscuits, gravy, eggs, migas, bacon, shrimp, etc. and 4) fruit, desserts, french toast, etc. Buffets are not ideal for me. The restaurant itself is spacious, with a great outdoor area overlooking the Steiner Ranch neighborhood. But a couple of things kept the experience from being flawless--minor annoyances rather than deal breakers. First, the dining room is very dark. I'm all for ambiance, but our table didn't even have a candle, which may explain why the menu is backlit. Second, for a restaurant this large, having essentially single-use restrooms feels mismatched. I had to wait in line twice, and it wasn't even a particularly busy evening. Beautiful sunset, great band, and one of the best and softest starter bread baskets I've ever had in my life - even though it was probably 50% butter. It also feels like a mini Austin getaway. Probably one of the best prime ribs in Austin, and great value for the portion size too! Definitely recommend dinner and their happy hour as well. Celebrated my parent's 50th Anniversary at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse. The restaurant is gorgeous! We sat in a private room with a great view of Lake Travis. The food was outstanding. I visited Steiner Ranch for my anniversary while in Austin. First off, our server was amazing--super friendly and attentive, which made the evening feel special. We ordered the crab cakes, lobster-topped asparagus, and a steak. The appetizers were great, but when it came to the steak, I found it a bit underwhelming. I think I would've enjoyed it more if I had gone with a different cut like a New York strip or ribeye, as this one lacked some of the flavor I was hoping for. Me and my boyfriend came here for brunch on Sunday for the first time and we both had such a nice experience! The view on the patio was incredible and it was such a perfect day to sit outside. I really appreciated how they had the fire pit on. My only complaint about our experience was how busy it was. It was truly a zoo moving around and navigating the buffet lines. Other than that, we really didn't have any complaints. The food was fantastic and they had such a good variety of options. We had a much better experience at Steiner Ranch this visit. Still not 5-star, but much improved. Food this visit was the buffalo quail legs appetizer. The dish would have been much better if the buffalo sauce was served on the side with the gorgonzola dressing. The excess sauce on the quail legs made the breading soggy, not crisp. NY strip and grilled snapper entrees were both very good. Steak was cooked perfectly, the fish was a nice size, adorned with a nice portion of lump crab. Sautéed mushrooms were delicious. Attended a private team dinner on the third floor of the restaurant, Cameron our event manager was fantastic and went over the history of the property and the locally sourced meat at the restaurant. The dinner was well prepared but the servers/bartenders were not attentive and did not explain any of the items being served. The previous experience that my coworkers described was more fine dining but this experience felt more rushed and inattentive. Based on all of the feedback I'm sure it was an off night. Absolutely stunning views- we have to start there! We somehow managed to sit on the glassed-in patio with a beautiful view of Lake Travis. As the sun set and the storm rolled in, the view was magical! I have to mention that they don't have valet parking, and they NEED it desperately. Once the small upper lot is full, you have a long, steep and very dark journey to a lower parking lot that also has zero lights. Not safe in any aspect. Thankfully, it wasn't raining when we left or we would have been drenched and could have easily slipped going down the hill. Parking matters, folks! The filet was tender with very little seasoning. I usually like a good beef seasoning but allowing the flavor of the meat to come through first was genius! The baked potato was perfectly cooked and loaded. My friend enjoyed his wedge salad- the small size is HUGE! He ordered the medallions and said the flavors were exceptional in every way. My friend enjoyed his cocktail and wine. How can we get steakhouses on board with alcohol-removed wine? I really miss having a glass of wine with my dinner but can't tolerate alcohol anymore. Such a bummer! In short, the experience was wonderful- but be prepared to hike to the restaurant or hire a driver for doorstep service. Brunch staff needs better training. Made Mother's Day brunch reservations 30 days before and asked to be seated outside and they said fine. It was a party of 8. We arrived for our reservation (ahead of time) and checked in. At no point did the staff indicate it would be a long wait. We stood in the lobby and waited and after 15 min past our reservation time I asked when we'd be seated and the front desk staff indicated we were 3rd to be seated. Still at this time no one stated that the patio was first come first serve. I inquired again 25 min past our reservation time as was told that it was first come first serve. I understood and let them know that at no point from when I made the reservation till just now, has anyone said that. I then asked to be seated immediately anywhere and they said they would seat us immediately. Finally 50 min after we arrived did we get seated. Next is the mandatory tip for a buffet due to the party of 8. This is absolutely crazy as the wait staff just brought our drinks and took our plates. Won't be back here for bunch ever and that's a shame as it's a good restaurant. Front staff just doesn't care and they showed that today. read more

We went on a Thursday for our 9th anniversary and had a wonderful experience. I made 6 o'clock reservations and we got seated quickly. We chose outside on the deck so we can see the sunset. The food options were aplenty and the drink options are endless. We enjoyed both our entrees of Wagyu beef ribs and a filet mignon and shrimp skewer. Our waiter Tony went above and beyond. There's plenty of parking, plenty of spirits and plenty of good vibes. The music was great. I couldn't recommend this place more. read more

Made reservations a month ago, drove an hour and a half based on glowing reviews. Tonight was mediocre at best. We had a 5:30 reservation, we arrived 15 minutes early and were prepared to wait. We were ask our seating preference and we chose patio. With several open 2 top tables along the lake edge side we were put right at the stairs right in front of the entertainment speaker. When the hostess asked "is this alright" and I replied "it's not ideal" she walked off. Then proceeded to seat the next three couples along the edge. The steak was delicious, the sides were average. Unfortunately the seating was so irritating that we left within 40 minutes of arrival to find another location we could enjoy our date night. read more

We have visited Steiner Ranch Steakhouse several times over the years, it's a beautiful location, staff is friendly and courteous. And here's the "but"...the food is mediocre at best. We ordered the prime rib and rib eye. The prime rib was fatty and extremely tough accompanied with their steak knife that struggled to cut it. The rib eye had ribbons of gristle throughout. The manger replaced our food in an effort to make it right and it was much better. For me having to complain to management or wait staff is very much a "one-off" as was this evening, I hope at Steiner Ranch. Will we go back, that's a good question...but probably not. read more

When you're paying a lot for a meal at a steakhouse, you expect the service to match the quality of the food. While the food was good, the service was quite poor especially for a more upscale restaurant. We had a reservation and were not seated until 20 minutes past our reservation time. This is despite having several open tables all around us. We placed our order, and waited, waited, waited while watching other larger tables seated after us receive their food. Not what you're expecting when you spend over $100 per person on food and wine for a birthday dinner. The food was good and steak was well-prepared.
