Stopped by Carvel the other day on an afternoon walk and had the most refreshing ice cream! This spot is so cute, it's a walk up stand that reminds you of something you'd see at the beach and had tons of outdoor seating. They have a ton of options between ice cream and cakes. I got the "small" cup of swirl soft serve. It was delicious and much bigger than I expected. Because the serving sizes are quite large, this place is a bit expensive. I love Nicecream Factory down the road, but my husband wanted a change of venue for once. I remember having come here for a banana split, so I suggested returning here. There's ample outside seating, but it does face a busy road. We weren't the only ones with the same idea for ice cream on a hot day, so the line was long. One person is working the outside window, so it can take awhile awkwardly standing outside for your food. There's standing water sometimes in the potholes and divets in the parking lot, so beware of where you're standing for mosquitos. I got a banana sundae. They have so many varieties of ice cream related treats that you can customize and get pretty much anything you want. None of it is particularly out of this world quality, but it's all still tasty. While this says Carvel on the side, the guy running it does not stick to all carvel. Any purist who knows carvel will know that something is rotten in carveltown. He uses his own cake icing on carvel cakes. Carvel has it's own style of frosting that goes on it's cakes that complements their ice cream. Cake icing DOES NOT belong on carvel cakes. The place has a weak A/C running which results in your ice cream already melting as he hands it to you. Boo. The shake was good, and the selection is 250 flavors. Since milkshakes are already melted ice cream there is no worry there. Want real carvel- go to Jersey or NY and you will taste the real deal. read more
