Not very helpful/ not properly trained I called twice today to order a birthday cake for my brother. I wanted to get it customized similar to a chess board or a car. The first time I called was 2pm, the worker said customizing was going to be more expensive which I am okay with but when I asked how much more expensive she said that she didn't know. She asked if I could call back between 5-6pm today cuz I can get the answer then. Fast forward 5:10pm I called back again, once again the worker wasn't sure and said she'll call her boss. She then asked if I can call back tomorrow morning. My brother's birthday is coming up soon and I don't know if I would trust this place to get the cake ready in time if this is their current system in place for taking orders. read more

This carvel location refuses to make milkshakes with ice cream other than soft serve (I guess easier for them). I asked for a milk shake specifically with hard ice cream and was simply refused, it was option of soft serve or no shake. I said that was absurd and left without a milkshake. I have been getting hard ice cream milkshakes my entire life at various carvels - and go to the Carvel franchises on Francis Lewis, Northern etc. I have never had any pushback whatsoever that they only make milkshakes with soft serve ice cream. If I wanted a soft serve ice cream milkshake - I could go elsewhere - McDonald's, etc. Apparently not the first time at this location has done this based on feedback from social media. It's a new level of poor customer service- when your business is supposed to serve ice cream. read more

I will never go to this location again! First and last time! I ordered a custom cake a week in advance! This is the best they can do? Are you serious? They do not care and have no common sense at the expense of my 5 year old son's birthday. All my son wanted was a picture of his favorite Pokémon. Can you even tell which one? No? I'm basically a soft serve person but after 4 visits to this Carvel location, I've been disappointed. it tastes watered down and you can tell when the swirl on top droops over like a piece of wilted lettuce before you even pick it up from the counter that it's not going to be the best. Since I am equally distant, I will now only go to the Carvel on Francis Lewis Boulevard, which has consistently creamy and thicker soft serve. read more

I really didn't want to write this review but I'm literally forced to. Backstory: I'm a repeat customer (purchased a good amount of cakes in the past, including the custom cake in my original post). It is now my child's 5th birthday and, of course, I ring up this Carvel to have another cake customized. Let me tell you, this will be my LAST one. My child is currently obsessed with Shopkins (don't ask!). I called and told Ronnie my order and that I would be emailing him the image I'd like on the custom cake, along with my child's name. He receives the email and responds with "Yes, we can do that for you". So naturally, I thought all is fine...till the day I went to pick it up. You can imagine my reaction when I realized I just purchased a cake in a name that is NOT my child's name. KEEP IN MIND RONNIE ALSO CUSTOMIZED MY CHILD'S BIRTHDAY CAKE!!! I called to address the situation and he then tells me that the name could not be changed. I'm not sure why he didn't specify when I first placed the order. He decides to tell me ON THE DAY OF MY CHILD'S BIRTHDAY. What a way to GHOST your customers and telling them I DON'T GIVE TWO FU*KS. Upon entering this carvel, my friends and I couldn't help notice how filthy the place was. Trash on the floor, straw wrappers, napkins and debris all over the floor. The few tables it has had ice cream stains and syrup droppings on the tables and were never cleaned. I would've immediately walked out, but my friends wanted ice cream, so we stayed. We proceeded to the counter where we were greeted with "you know what you want?" Excuse me? Absolutely no manners from the staff. I overheard them talking to other customers and was blown away at how rude and obnoxious they all are. I asked the girl if it was possible to clean the tables in front. With an attitude, she rolled her eyes and took a napkin out of the dispenser. She walked over to 1 table and wiped it with a dry napkin!! No disinfectant, nothing! And - she left the other 2 tables dirty without even looking at them. Rude, disrespectful and she couldn't care less. Out of all the Carvels I've been to, this place was the most expensive, rudest and filthiest. There were just too many dislikes of this particular location and I won't be returning. read more

Their ice cream is so good and reasonably priced. The staff is also really friendly and the place is well kept and clean. DISHONEST - DO NOT EVER GO HERE; they deserve 0 stars. I called and asked for a cake with crunchies on the outside, but with vanilla and strawberry instead of the usual vanilla and chocolate. I repeated it multiple times and assumed it would be ok since I was talking to the owner. I even called back after ordering to make sure there was no egg allergy in the vanilla and strawberry flavors. Then, when I went to pick up the cake, a girl was there (not the owner), and I noticed that there was no strawberry note on the order form that was taken over the phone. I asked the girl if there was strawberry inside. She said she didn't know, but the cake was set aside from others, so possibly there was strawberry. She offered to call the owner to make sure. However, I was running late for my train, so I had to assume it was right. It was wrong!!! It was the usual vanilla and chocolate when we cut it late at night, so I called this morning to complain. The owner completely denied hearing strawberry even though I said it multiple times in two separate phone calls. Who would bother to make up a wrong cake order? I am the one telling the truth and the owner, even if he didn't remember, should have graciously offered something, anything, as compensation. It's completely unacceptable. read more
