The day Cary retires will be a dark day in my life, lucky he is young! You will NOT find someone who is more honest, fair and straight forward in ANY industry. He really could teach a million places what good customer service means. He keeps you car running. He makes sure you understand what needs to be done NOW, what can wait and what is a waste of time. I once asked for a battery and he actually told me to go to Auto Zone, they had better deals. More important to me, he does not make me feel like an idiot when he has to explain how a car works. I know the basics, but get past changing the oil or head lights and I am lost. Some guys love to puff their chests out and show you how smart they are. Cary just tells you, plain and simple. He is very laid back and soft spoken and not pushy. He is old school. You are not going to get this detailed estimate on paper. But what ever he does quote you at, he will stick to that, or call and get your permission to continue for more. You will not get sticker shock when you pick up your car. His place is TINY and easy to miss. So don't plan on sitting in the lobby and wait for it. The good news is Tempe Market place is like 1.5 miles away and would make a good waiting room. If you are considering buying a used car off the net, it is worth every penny to have him look at it and tell you. Sure it costs a bit, but it sure is better than getting stuck with a lemon. You will be kicking yourself later! We have a 2006 Toyota Matrix we need to last right now. It has 95K miles so we know it is going to need work. But with Cary, you don't worry. He sort of specializes in Toyota. I plan on keeping this car as a good weekend car. It gets great gas mileage. I want to make it my back up part-time ugly beater. I drive a large truck so would love to keep that in the drive way and make the Toyota my work horse. I dropped of my Jeep Wrangler here and I really didn't expect to get great news back. However, it was much worse than expected. Cary was very honest and told what needed to be done before he started doing any work. As much work as he did my Jeep was not out of the woods yet. Cary did great work and shot me straight the whole time but, he let me know my Jeep had about year left before I would need to do more major repairs! I needed a place for my girlfriend to take her car and I'm glad we choose Cary's. He may be the most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with. I have since sent many people to him and all reviews are the same. This week I brought my car is for a 30,000 mile check up, after going over it he only recommended an oil change. He found other things that were going to need fixing but told me I had a few thousand miles to go. I have never heard that before, most of the time shops pressure you to get it done right away. He explained what he wanted to do and why he wanted to do it prior to getting started in my car and for someone who doesn't know a thing about cars he helped break it down and was a great honest guy to work with. I took my '95 Toyota Tacoma in for Cary to look at and to give me an idea on what needed to be repaired. I had never actually been to Cary's before this day...but some of the guys I work with swear by him. Cary was able to diagnose the problem and make the repairs, all in one day. My little truck runs like a champ now!! I don't usually do reviews, but I wanted to let people know that Cary was completely straight with me on what was required to fix my truck's problem...and very reasonable when it comes to pricing. Cary is easily one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever met. I had a dead battery so went to auto zone (where I bought my battery months before)..after testing it, they confirmed that it wasn't a dead battery--it was a dead alternator. I then took my car to BigO where they wanted to charge me $600 because OF COURSE they found a multitude of other things wrong. The next day around 9am I found Cary on Yelp and decided to give him a call. He got my car info and told me he'd do some research and call me back. About 15 minutes later I received a call that he could get me in and out the door for $377. Everywhere else I called quotes were anywhere from $500-$700 for an alternator. Not only was his price the best, but he had the most honest, dependable personality and just left a smile on my face knowing that my car would be left in good hands. I left work and drove my car over to him within the same hour that we spoke. By the time I was off work (3:30) he was done and my alternator was a good as new. He told me about his background and how he's owned his business for 18+ years & how he treats every single car like his baby. He specializes in Toyota's so I felt even better leaving my 2007 FJ cruise there with him. USE CARY!! He and his crew are amazing. If you don't think a 100% Honest, Reliable, and Hardworking mechanic exist who treats your car and pocketbook like his own, you'd be mistaken. I have a 2006 Acura TL that I've taken to Cary over the years and recently my wife got into an accident with it. We both thought it was totaled but instead of him immediately telling me what to do, he asked me what I preferred since it could possibly be saved. Right out of the gate, the customer's concern was first. I paid this car off so obviously wanted to save it. He worked with my insurance agency (Farmers - great company as well!) to save the car. This wasn't just a general negotiation - it included types of parts, etc that he went over with me in detail and what to expect so I knew exactly was being put on my car. He also worked out ways to save me money instead of paying a standard deduction, going back to what I said about treating your pocketbook as his own. Since they were able to save the car his shop did all of the bodywork, which came out looking like a brand new car. With this accident, I considered selling it and getting something new, but given how well the bodywork was done I'm driving it to the ground. Cary and his workers are mechanics with a conscience. They do not exist as a shop to rip people off and wind up with a house at the top of a mountain. They exist because they do what they love while being able to provide for their families and bring excellent service to anyone who walks through their door. read more

Scheduled my service two weeks out to ensure there would be no issue, when I went to pick up vehicle it had not been repaired, they said that the part they needed was too far for them to go get. They then told me that if I didn't like it it was just to bad, these words came from the owners (Cary) mouth. Real assholes!!!! Do not give them your hard earned money. "It's hard to find a good mechanic" - I think every person has uttered those words at one point or another. Well, for me, the search is over. I came across Cary's Auto Service by word of mouth from a friend - isn't that how most all good businesses grow their clientele? Cary is honest, full of integrity and provides service that surpasses dealership standards at a much lower rate. I brought my Camry due to an engine check light issue that a Toyota dealership's service department was having a hard time diagnosing, I also had good reason to believe my brake pads were in need of replacing. Cary kept me in the loop throughout the whole process of working on my vehicle, while simultaneously researching the cause for the "System Too Lean" code - he went over and beyond trying to be sure to avoid replacing something that wasn't malfunctioning. At the end of the day, I received my vehicle with the issue resolved, new brakes and a few other common maintenance-related jobs performed. It took some time getting used to my car being so responsive to the acceleration and stopping so quickly - it was as if it was brought back from the dead. All that said, Cary knows and performs his work extremely well. There is a stigma about mechanics taking advantage of people (since the average person doesn't have a clue why their vehicle is performing the way it is, we just want it fixed) - with Cary, that stigma is a non-issue. If you're looking for an honest mechanic who performs quality work at a very reasonable rate, you need look no further than Cary's Auto Service - a true diamond in the rough. I went out to az to learn how to deal blackjack. I drove from pa. A few days after I got into scottsdale my check engine light went on. I went to autozone to see what the problem was. It was the third spark plug was misfiring. I went to pep boys they wanted 174 just to look at it. I went to smart automotive and they could not look at my truck for another 3 days. Then I went to midas. They wanted 100 a hour. I went to my friends place to look for another mechanic. I found cary on yelpers. I told him my problem. He assured me that if I get the truck to him at 8 in the morning it will be finished. Plus from talking to him he knew more about that truck than most mechanics I have ever talked to. I dropped it off. I got a call at 12 saying what the problem was. The bill with labor was 115. My mechanic in pa put bad spark plugs in the truck. Cary could have ripped me off major since I was from pa. Plus I was leaving the next day for pa. He is honest and a quick mechanic. More than willing to help you and your problem. I was a loyal customer of Cary's for a number of years and at first I was more than pleased by his service. After several years I began to notice that some of his charges were questionable but I trusted him since a good mechanic is hard to find I didn't pursue my suspicions. Then my clutch went bad and he gave me a very high estimate. I checked online like I am doing now because the mechanic I changed to retired. I saw the great reviews for Cary's and I thought I'd pass on my experience with Cary's. What I found out online that Cary's estimate was easily $150 too high. I got the clutch repaired elsewhere for $250 less still good 5 yrs later. read more
