Spacious waiting room
Beth B.

I recently visited Chapman Ford for the first time to have some recall work done on my Ford Explorer. This was my first time dealing with this dealership. I had previously bought another vehicle and had it serviced by Chapman Chrysler and always had great experiences with them, so I hoped it would be the same with Chapman Ford. The service advisor that I spoke to on the phone when making my appointment had advised that I had several open recalls on my vehicle and that the parts weren't available at this time. They recommended that I bring my Ford Explorer in so they could inspect it and start a paper trail in order to get me on the waiting list for parts. When I brought my vehicle in, the original service advisor whom I had spoken with on the phone was not in that day. Darryl Wesley, another service advisor, assisted me. He was friendly and professional. Darryl checked his computer and advised that they had the parts available to make the suspension repairs on my vehicle. That was great news, because that was one of the more "important" of the four recalls. I told him to go ahead and have their team start the work. He asked if I wanted to wait at the dealership or get a ride home. I opted for a ride home and they paid for a Lyft to take me home. My vehicle was ready later that afternoon and I had a friend drive me back to the dealership. My bill was $0 and there were no "upsells." I was thrilled because that some dealerships are known to try to push further repairs. I am still on the waiting list for the three other recalls but am very glad to have gotten the ball rolling. I will definitely return to Chapman Ford again.

Chapman Ford added a $43.20 'fees' charge with zero explanation. No parts, no supplies--just a bogus, fraudulent add-on."
Steve C.

Borderline fraud. Avoid this dealership. Watch your bill here. I was charged $43 in "materials" for a software reprogramming--no parts, no supplies, nothing. When I asked Rick the service rep, he stated the fees were added on by corporate and the $43 was for "keeping the software machines current". Keep in mind, I already paid them $480. When questioned, staff couldn't justify the charge at all. That's not a mistake--that's deceptive billing. And to make things worse, I called corporate and corporate said the dealership determines the fees, not them. So Rick lied to me too.

I initially wrote a great review here but i'm back to defend my now 1 star review lol. Buckle in. So I showed up for a rear view camera recall and an oil change. Upon initial diagnostic they also recommended new wipers and fixing rear left shock. I approved. After 6 hours they tell me my car is ready and before I go I notice the left rear running light isn't working, but the panel of lights still works when I click my brakes or click the lock/unlock button on my fob. This clearly indicates a wiring or plug issue but the light still works. At this point I'm annoyed because I'm leaving with an issue I didn't come with. I left my car overnight and got a ride. The next day I was quoted $1438 for a full tail light replacement - HILARIOUS. I obviously dispute this since it was so clearly a fluke during service. Rick and team were gaslighting me into saying the bulb was out and the whole thing needed to be replaced and offered me employee discount of $940. Again, COMICAL. Why on earth would I pay a band for something you evidently did? We alllllll know it wasn't a crazy coincidence that the light burnt out at the exact time of service by chance. Mind you, I knew the light wasn't out. Rick was not listening to me and it was so annoying. He said "if we did work near the trunk then it could make sense and we would've taken responsibility". Ummm babe do you know that rear left shock and rearview means REAR ?? Lol. So at this point in this stand up comedy bit, I asked for photo evidence to be added to the diagnostic report. 45 minutes of radio silence. So I bring in the big guns (dad). Dad gets on the phone finally with a service manager mitch. Mitch says "I understand Tiana came here with a broken tail light" GIRLLL Please. Now we are just making up crap for fun. Obviously my dad corrected him that it was very obviously done during service and again... the. Light. Is. Not. Broken. !!!!!! Mitch says he doesn't know if he has the magic touch or what but the car is suddenly fixed!! Wow!!! It's a MIRACLE!!! Aka, you finally saw that exactly what I've been saying for the last 2 hours is exactly TRUE and plugged it back in or fixed the wire or whatever the heck dumb fix it was, but you wanted to save face so you pretended it was magic. Now I love me a magic trick don't get me wrong, but a $1400 one I expect to be wayyyyy better and have me leaving happy lmfao. Also, to rick's point of "we'd take responsibility" fantastic closing joke! Anyways. The only redeeming quality to literally any of your service was Tony the mechanic. That guy actually has a heart. The rest of you, shame on you for trying to take advantage of a young girl. Bet you didn't think I'd be smart enough to call out your BS. Thanks *i guess* for fixing what you rightfully should've at no cost? But for future reference you need to educate your team to do better diligence. I would've respected your team SO much more and wouldn't have left this review if you could have just owned up to your mistakes and admitted that your diagnostic to replace the whole part was wrong and that it was a mistake during service. Accidents happen! That's life. But gaslighting me with zero accountability? Nahhhhh. Anyways. Thanks for the laugh, I'll be sure to let everyone know how funny y'all are!

I worked with Daryl, Mike, and Morgan. They were a great team to work with. They got me into my new Bronco smoothly and handled my trade in with ease. I've been going to Chapman Ford for many years and plan to keep coming back.

I had a special project in mind and they help guide me and acquire parts needed to achieve. There was a bit of fabrication needed, and they did FANTASTIC. It looks like an OEM part. I couldn't be happier. They nailed the timeline, even on custom work, and that is impressive all on it's own. I will take all of my projects here moving forward!

The check engine light had also been on in my Jeep, so I had them check that out as well. It was Friday when they told me they could order the part my Jeep needed to be delivered by Sunday. They asked if I could prepay for half of the part/services, so I did, which should have been the first red flag. They told me to drop my car off Monday morning, and it would take around an hour - an hour and a half to install. I dropped by car off around 8:00 a.m. I finally called the shop back around 12:30 because I hadn't received an update. I called four times with no answer, then left a message. When they called me back, they said the part would actually be delivered Wednesday, which surprised me because they should have told me when I dropped my car off that the part didn't arrive Sunday. They said they were talking to the dealer to try to get the part sooner. I asked for them to call me back with an update. They still didn't call back. I had to call again. To which they said the part was actually showing up wrong on the website, and I needed a different part, and there was going to be a price change. I said just order the part, but if it can't get done on Monday or Tuesday morning, I'll have to pick the car back up and have it installed another time. They said they would call the dealer again to see when the correct part would arrive and call me back with an update. Yet again, no call back. I finally called again around 4:30 p.m. and asked for an update. They said that the correct part is actually a kit with 20 different parts that I should just source on eBay because it would be cheaper. They were zero help. I had to call for an update every time. Each time, they told me something different. It just seemed like they were lying on top of lies and could not keep up. They seemed to have no idea what was actually going on with my car, and they had multiple opportunities to be honest. When I picked up the car, I expressed my concerns about the situation. My car was in the shop for over 24 hours for no reason, I paid for ubers, and pre-paid for this service all for nothing. Their reasoning for not giving me updates was that they only had one person working in the shop. He also became defensive and said "Did I not leave you a voicemail??" Yes, you did. But that was after I called 4 times asking for an update. These people don't know what they are doing, and they have horrible customer service skills. I should've said no from the beginning when they asked for payment upfront. And before they comment and say "we don't have records of you in our system" the car was under my husband's name, Wyatt :) EDITED: The shop reached out to clarify my concerns. As indicated in their reply, I asked how the fact my car is a hybrid was missed considering I told them it was a hybrid, and they stated in their reply that is the root cause. Their response was that the dealer gave them two options and they ordered the somewhat readily available one. AKA they didn't check to make sure it would work with the hybrid. Yet another instance of inconsistent communication and incorrect information provided in their reply below. The root cause was not the vehicle is a hybrid. It was that they didn't pay attention. Also, since they want to talk about phone records, mine show the following: I called at 12:15, 12:20, and 12:25. I left a voicemail. I received a call back at 12:49. I called immediately back at 12:50. I had to call again at 1:26 for an update. They didn't call back until 3:19. I had to call again at 4:20 p.m. This is consistent with what I explained above. Their pettiness just goes to show they only care about their image and not their customers or their vehicles.

The gentleman running the service counter in the front office was no longer employed when I came back. When they told me the problem- they said the right front strut was bad. I ordered the new part and he had communicated They would install the part. That was a inaccurate and that's an example of why he was not there or employed anymore when I came back. However, the part was not bad he had diagnosed incorrectly as a failing part. It was a completely different problem. It was a valve in my air compressor that was failing and they failed to find or diagnose the actual problem. They wouldn't install the part when I brought it to them after they diagnosed it incorrectly - I ordered the new part because they told me it was bad and it wasn't so I'll be returning the party and getting my money back for that as well. . Basically I came to the conclusion, they did not want to deal with an Air Ride suspension system at all and they didn't have or know how to diagnose the Air Ride failure correctly. To be fair, very few repair shops want to deal with these air ride suspension systems. They're complicated. They will be good for other things, but there are some things, They just can't handle it; it's outside of their realm of speciality.

However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.
