They talk a good talk, but when it comes to it - its all about the money. Car repair and after paying over $1,000 it was not fully repaired and caused an accident to occur. Called and confronted CarzRus about this mater (AFTER WE CHECKED WITH ANOTHER CAR SPECIALIST) THE other certified car specialist stated that the damage was Cars R Us responsibility. I know some people have had good experiences, but let me tell you when you have a bad one... My vehicle is a TDI and the oil requirements are pretty strict in maintaining the engine and MPG that is achieved. First of all the general knowledge is understanding how to tinker with a vehicle, but the reasoning behind why certain things are is not there. I requested a different oil to be used and was more than happy to pay the premium difference; however, they did not find this appealing at all. The second time I brought the vehicle in, they filled it up with non-synthetic oil when the vehicle manual and mechanic manuals specifically call for a synthetic grade. Please understand the viscosity differences between the two oils as switching oils can cause damage in the engine. Long story short, they pulled me in the back and told me that if I am so smart to just not bring my car there and to change my own oil.... Remember they put the wrong oil in, based on this I believe I have the right to be a concerned consumer... read more

I brought my new baby, 1965 Mustang, here for an inspection after driving for a few weeks and noticing how high she idles, how hard it is to brake, and the puddles of oil she leaves behind. The shop was clean, everyone was nice and most importantly the fixes and prices they presented seem to be fair. They addressed my issues and found a few more that I figured came with the age of the car. Turns out I was wrong. I decided to get the work done here and should be able to pick her up today. I have had my car serviced here a few times, including transmission work, tires, regular maintenance, etc. The work has always been done in a timely fashion and I've never had a problem afterwards. Prices are very fair as well. If you're looking to skate by with the bare minimum amount of repairs and service you might not get along with these guys too well - they will urge you to stay on top of routine maintenance, and to fix things that are likely to break before they break. Costs a little more sooner but a lot less over the long run. Overall very trustworthy and highly recommended. read more

I took 2 cars in and they did not fix what I asked for. Anyway they had them for a week and fixed part of one and not the other. I took the car not fixed at all to another shop and their comment is "people like that make the rest of us look bad". When I told that shop what CarzRUs did they shook their head and said " you were taken". Cars R Us even sold us a part they said would fix the brights problem it didn't. STAY AWAY! Pay attention to the negative reviews...they are probably only the real ones! Who charges over $800 to test for a computer problem...that was labor for one problem. And then he took us in the back office and tried to blame it on us! They even held the unfixed car hostage until the following week because I said I am not paying for no repairs done! Never again. $45 for an oil change and then the upselling begins. Then there are $30 in "taxes" on a $170 bill. Makes no sense on an 8.25% tax rate. Digging further-it's not all taxes there are "fees" added but the clerk had no idea what for. Wow-brutal experience. Ask questions about your bill if you must use his place. read more

I visited this shop of horrors in February 2010. They replaced an oil pan gasket but the oil pan continued to leak. When I took the car back, one of the owners Matt Aukes acted as if he did not want to repair the shoddy workmanship. However, he agreed to look at the car and re-do the mess. On the day, they were to re-do their mess, Ray Aukes and Matt Aukes became hostile and abusive, delaying working on my vehicle, yelling, name-calling until I called the Winnebago county Sherrif, who arrived in 5 minutes. All-n-all they re-did their poor work, but gave me extremely poor customer service, very unprofessional. This shop does okay oil changes, but anything else and YOU might have to supervise the work being done. I think that, even after an oil change, check your car as it might be missing other parts. My car was generally worse after taking it to Carz-R-Us. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I went in with a very simple request my rim was bent and I wanted it fixed. I called before arriving and spoke with the owner who told me he could fix my rim for less then 40 depending on how bad it was. Then went on to say that if I needed a new rim he could get me one for 50 no problem. I told him that I had a brand new tire that ks to my warranty at discount tire they would fix it for free. I just needed the rim to be fixed first. The mechanic looked at my room told me he could fix it and took it back to start working on it. Then he said you get the new tire so that he could make sure it's sealed correctly. I returned with a brand new 120 Arizona tire. He took it in back and them sent the receptionist out a few minutes later. She said it doesn't seem to be fixable. But we can order you a new one. I repeated to her again is it was 50 to replace I would be happy to purchase it. But if it's any more than that I can't afford that today. She said okay no problem. about an hour later she called me 150 to replace it. And asked me if I was still interested I said no. I told you when I came in I only have 50 with me so I cannot afford to pay more than that. I asked her if they could simply set my new tire outside so that I could pick it up after work. She told me to hold on and put the other on the phone. He then proceeded to tell me but it's not that simple and that I cannot have my tire back until I pay them. I told him that I was not interested making a purchase through them because I had a limited amount of funds. Then he starts insulting me by saying I know nothing about how a business works. (I come from a family full of business owners ) And that I cannot come in there and get services for free. I had no problem paying actually provided me a service the service that he promised me over the phone. Proceeded to tell me that I had an attitude and that he doesn't have to give me anything back nor will he until I pay 150 (strictly to get my tire back). We argued for several minutes. I told him again just because not able follow through it is not my fault and I will not be paying any money. Needless to say he still if you could give me my tire. So after we hung up I sent my parents and my husband in to get my tire back. Never going there again. read more

I brought my car in for a coolest leak and they they told me that I have a bad radiator cap, and that I have a bad thermostat housing and that it was cracked and warped. I just had my thermostat housing replaced about a year ago and there was nothing wrong with it at all. I then tell them this and they proceeded to "change a gasket" and filled up my car with water. I did not approve him to change this gasket that he took upon his own account to do. When I got to Cars R Us, he had the thermostat housing off my car and charged me involuntarily. I'm literally leaving with the same problem I showed up with and they charged me $215. I will never come back and will make sure everyone knows how these crooks do business. These people are definitely crooked and will try to take advantage of you. My father has owned an auto repair shop for 20 years and he clearly stated to the owner Matt that he was cheating me out of my money and Matt did not care. Matt showed anger to try to intimidate me. My daughter had her car there for a repair. Found out they lied to me about what they did ( or didn't do to the car). $2400 later, car still had the squeaking AND drove away with engine light on and rpms going crazy. Brought it back , told it was coincident. Another $500 later ( took it somewhere else) , it was working perfectly and that cars r us had unplugged something that had made her light come on and rpms go crazy. Also charged her for an alignment that they didn't even do! Who doesn't do an alignment at a car shop! Isn't that part of the buisiness! The list goes on...How wrong is that! Disputing the charges with the credit card company. Hopefully she gets her $ back. NEVER take you car there people! ! They obviously don't know what they are doing. When I called to complain about the inconsistencies he told my daughter, he laughed about the whole experience. Apparently it's a big joke to them! Tried telling me they told my daughter about other issues with the car and that it was on her invoice and pre estimate sheet. Nothing was documented! PLEASE read this before taking your car there. You will want to go somewhere else! I highly recommend Forest Hills Automotive. They are wonderful, honest people who KNOW what they are doing!! And very very reasonable!!! Car was towed to facility they took an initial look at it. To tell me that is was a catastrophic motor failure they did do a compression test and check the timing belt . We gave them the ok to do another hour and half to look further to get a better picture. Still same results. My bill was almost 400.00 with no real answers on what the problem was. Had car towed to storage and we opened the hood to find the car not put back together. The timing belt you could see teeth thru it. I have pictures to prove it. We will NOT be referring anybody to this repair place in the future. I was charged $100.00 an hour. Read other reviews they were at $88 an hour in June. Not sure of there pricing either. Guess that was my fault for not asking the rates. Update: They call to discuss the yelp review. I quote " your actions were enough and there's nothing you could say to change my opinion, have a great day and thank you for calling" and I hung up. I'm not junking the car never was just asked. If you payed more attention to your jobs at hand and not your Yelp account things may be difference outcomes...... read more

Car went in for repair for a transmission issue. After 10 days and several phone calls I finally got my car back. In less than 6 weeks the issue came back. I took it back in and after another 7 days, including 2 missed due dates, they warrantied the part and the labor and told me they would not warranty either going forward. I was told if the problem happens again, contact tech-net and see if a shop outside of 25 miles from their location would warranty the work. They said it's not their fault if the part fails. Through the entire process I felt like they were taking their time and getting around to it when they felt like it. They would not have anyone work after hours, before hours, on the weekend or during breaks. They made no effort to make me feel that they valued me as a customer and didn't seem to care to have any repeat business from me. In the future, they may not want to try and take on jobs they are not experts in. They were obviously in over their head. read more
