Came on a Saturday during their happy hour time and was greeted at the front. It was pretty empty when we came in but they were playing cool little slow jams. The hostess doubled as our waiter as well which was just a mess in my opinion. For it to not be that busy, every thing we ordered took FOREVERRRRR to come out. We ordered the $3 tacos, which were pretty small so be prepared to order multiple, and the birria nachos (we ended up getting chicken instead--some pieces of the shredded chicken were dry but overall decent). The long wait time was confusing to me because there was literally no one else there. Plus, our host/waiter/bartender/all the above, seemed to be a bit confused. I made a reservation because this place looks really pretty from the outside and when I searched online it said it was a Mexican and Mediterranean place. Which it is. That said, when I got there, the smell of hookah hit me right as I walked in. I did not see this was a hookah place. Once you are in you get used to the smell, but it was just a lot when I came in. The music was also really loud so it was hard to hear people in our table when they talked. Food-wise it wasn't bad. I ordered the appetizer nachos as my entree since I wasn't that hungry. I had to take must of the stuff out and the tinga chicken was too spicy for my taste, but I pulled through as much as I could. The margarita I ordered was good though. I wanted to love this restaurant, but the lobster special that they do aggressively advertise on their website didn't exist, and the server acted like she never even heard of it. We ended up getting guacamole app, quinoa salad with shrimp and a seafood app. Salad was cold, including the shrimp, and the seafood stew didn't have any fish in it at all, just shrimp and mussels. Paloma drink was super light. They'll give you a shot on the house if you check in on yelp. Really enjoyed Casa Almenara! We came during happy hour and got a great deal on drinks -- the passion fruit margarita was amazing. The interior feels tropical; a DJ plays until 4; and the walls are windows that can be opened if the weather is nice. Same crowd and fun, I believe Blake's opens at 5 on Sunday. The brunch menu features ceviche(table next to me got it and loved it), huevos rancheros, fried chicken, and pancakes. We ordered chicken tinga tostada($10) - best dish we had! Would order two for my main; the burrito which comes with a side of potatoes($18+)and the salad with chicken added($22+) - chicken was super salty. When we sat down we were given complimentary nachos and salsa verde that taste fresh. I think the food is overpriced for what you're getting. Even in the Atlanta market in midtown the portions and prices didn't match. There were no real standout dishes either to recommend going back for another time. Good vibe for fun hanging out but there are places with more food/variety for similar prices. Service was slow to start but once we started they kept the mimosas flowing. It was my first time here, and I came with one of my friends. We actually ended up making a reservation for dinner, and were seated as soon as we walked in. I would say the restaurant in terms of ambience was extremely loud. I wasn't expecting the music to be playing as loud as it was so didn't make it a little difficult to talk, though we still were able to make the best of it. In terms of service, our server himself was very kind though it seem like the restaurant have been going through some sort of transition. Not only do they have a menu that has more Spanish style food. They also started doing Mediterranean. When we asked the server questions about the menu, they didn't really seem to know and ended up just opening up the menu and reading from it. All in all that's good but just seemed like they were all over the place for a bit. Which caused me to start to become a little bit skeptical about how good the food was going to be. I ended up getting the strawberry cheesecake martini, and it was OK, a little too sweet for my liking. For my entrée, I was going to have the whole fish on the Mediterranean menu, but the server guided me towards having the lamb kebabs. I'm super happy that, he did because I really enjoyed it! It came with multiple sides, which were all very enjoyable and had a ton of flavor. I was actually impressed by the portion of the food in terms of what I paid as well. Decided to stop in after a walk with a friend in Piedmont. It's conveniently located at the intersection of 10th & Piedmont Ave. As we entered the establishment we were greeted & seated immediately by the host. The ambiance is nice, feels like a restaurant that would be located on the beach. The server took our drink orders immediately. I ordered water and the Cranberry Mimosa margarita and my friend ordered the Innocent sangria (mock tail - not pictured). The margarita was extremely refreshing (I opted to go without the fresh garnish). I wasn't hungry so I skipped the food. My friend ordered the Tres Tacos and rice and rated them a 4 out of 5. I come here at least once a week for happy hour in the back lounge. Sometimes my laptop comes with me. I've eaten in the restaurant plenty of times but I really want to talk about the lounge area because it's a good lowkey spot and we don't have enough of those, if you ask me. We went for brunch, but didn't even have the stomach to stay and eat or order anything- so this review is not about the quality of the food or drinks. My fiancé and I hadn't been to this specific establishment, but were avid customers of 10th and Piedmont which was in the space prior, so we had high hopes. Upon entering the host seemed fine- more annoyed than anything that he had to be at work but I don't blame him for that (as someone who spent 10 years in the service industry- I know Saturday brunch shift sucks). The real issue was after we sat down. Finding a place to sit on the booth where there wasn't a burn hole from hookah coals or stuffing ripped out was literally not possible. The chair on the other side of the table had visible dirt like someone had their boots on it right before we walked in. The floor was sticky and the table smelled like a dirty college bar top. There wasn't many people in there at all so I didn't feel like it was post brunch rush grime (it was also 11:45am). Can't imagine what back of house looks like when they allow for the front of house to be visibly dirty. Also- noticed the owner threatened legal action against another reviewer? What bad vibes. We won't be coming back and I don't recommend anyone else does either. read more

I had the chilaquiles, the chicken was super dry and had no flavor at all. My boyfriend had the chicken and waffles, which he said the chicken was also bland and the waffle was stale. The al pastor wings didn't taste authentic at all, the flavor profile was off. Service 0/5: On to the worst part of our visit, we had the rudest server. As soon as he walked up to us, it was nothing but unpleasant. We could tell he was not happy serving us, we were super friendly and engaging as a large party table. He barely acknowledged us, or said anything. He would look down at his ordering system when he was taking our orders, and not even say anything after we've ordered, not even a nod or an okay. We would sit in silence wondering if he heard us or not. (in most cases, he didn't!) We thought that was just who he was, but as we observed him, he went up to another table with the biggest brightest energy. Probably acted that way because he was already entitled to our automatic 20% large party gratuity ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Never said more than two words to us at a time, but watched him laugh and smile with another table as he greeted them. Super rude. Do not recommend. Will not return. Prices: 5/5 As expected for this area, so close to Piedmont. It's definitely not a cheap place, and it's easy to run up a check while having fun here. Ambiance: 5/5 The crowd was lively and light hearted . Although we were the livest , it really was nice that everyone was matching our energy and encouraging a good time among 'strangers'. We were here for a bar crawl. We got into the space before it got really crowded. The space was not very big where the bar was, but the dining area was pretty spacious. There were two bartenders and they did their best to handle the influx of orders. One of them walked away after taking my friend's order and never came back. She stayed at the bar almost ten minutes waiting for her order. The brunch item we ate was a waffle and chicken tender. The chicken tender was good; could have had a bit more seasoning. The waffle was just okay. It was crispy and flaky, but nothing spectacular. As the restaurant got more crowded employees were walking people to an area in the back. We decided to try this restaurant on a whim. Our server David was amazing! He was attentive, friendly, and answered the many questions we had. The mimosas were decent. We had the strawberry and passion fruit. I wish it had a bit more of a fruity flavor. I ordered the omelette but switched meals with my daughter because she did not like the tacos.
