    Seafood paella
    Lana S.

My friends friend recommended this place for the best paella for the city. Even though Barcelona is not known for paella we know we had to try it while in Spain! We got a meat based paella and seafood based paella to try. Both had a squid ink type flavor to rice that really added a richness of flavor. We enjoyed both in a different way! Would def. Recommend coming here for some great food!

The torrezno duroc was exquisite, thin slivers of crisp and rich bacon. Charlie bravo mussels were tiny and a bit salty, but had a thick sauce with bite. Catavents paella was tasty with rice that wasn't too soft; fortunately able to order for 1 person serving size. The panalena mallorquina had a bit of ibérico belly ensconced in eggplant that needed a crisp covering broken to fully experience.

We made reservations here because I read it's a good place for paella. We walked down an alley to get to the restaurant. We were seated inside, but there's also outdoor seating available. We started with bites- ham croquette, crab croquette, and pork muffin sandwich. Each order is one unit. The exterior of the croquettes were light and crispy. We went with a seafood paella. It was flavorful and I liked the pieces of squid in it. I didn't care too much for the scampi and red prawns. The texture of the two felt undercooked, but maybe that's how it's suppose to be... We also had the grilled octopus. It had a soft texture. We ended the meal with flan for dessert. It was a pricier meal, but it was overall enjoyable.

This place was highly rated in Barcelona for paella. When my friends and I were walking in the area to waste time until this restaurant opened for dinner, I noticed that making reservations was highly recommended, so I did just that 10 minutes before the restaurant opened. It just happened to be a 7:15 p.m. reservation! What luck that there was an early evening opening because this place looked so busy. We got an outdoor table, which was perfect for us because we were feeling European and wanted the nice ambiance to match the vibe of this restaurant. It was still more relaxed in the evening, and we were glad they had outdoor heaters for their guests! The restaurant was a vibe. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting Barcelona for the first time and are looking for a restaurant serving delicious paella.

This food was great but a little expensive. It was some of my favorite paella and the ambiance was very cute. Service was also excellent.

This was our last night in Europe after two weeks and I wanted to make our last dinner memorable. It was. ..... for the wrong reasons! The positives? We arrived at 5:45pm because Apple said they were open all day but they opened at 6. We walked around for a bit, came back and then they asked us if we had a reservation. We said no. I asked if we needed one. They said yes. They sat us anyway. The drinks were delicious. Bartender recommended a drink similar to what I normally drink. Said it was his recipe and it was great. The negatives? Service was terrible. Not sure if if he was new or not but he was all over the place. Confusion on what orders went where. Took way too long for drinks. Never asked us how we were doing. Had to buy bread for the table and you got like two teaspoons of oil. No refill. The paella was bare with little substance and for €25, it should have had more. Spent €92 on a meal that was worth half that. Location was an alley. Overall, not impressed.

Hands down our favorite meal in Spain not only Barcelona . We walked in and were told that they had no vacancy but the food on other tables looked so delicious that we came back home and made reservations for the next day and boy , am I glad for that . They have both indoor as well as Outdoor seating and we elected to sit outside . The patio /alley where the outdoor seating is located even though had many other tables , the vibe was still very intimate . We started of with a bottle of wine and proceeded to order some appetizers and entrees . They served us a complimentary portion of warm bread with cucumber infused oil and it was the perfect start to an outstanding meal. The seafood paella was the servers recommendation and even though my hubby isn't big on seafood , he still loved it . The mussels with the tamarind sauce and coconut milk was hands down the best we have ever had . If you could only order one dish of the menu , I would highly recommend this one . We also got the acorn fed Iberian ham Croquette .The starters or bites are just the right portion to share. The show stopper however was the dessert that our server recommended -Torrija Casa Amalia . Its been a few months but I can still remember with vivid detail how it tasted and smelt and how our expressions changed from surprise to pure joy with the first bite . We have ensured every single person who cares to listen , hears about that dessert. I would go back to Barcelona just to have that dessert again ! Service was top notch and our server was so great and knowledgeable as well as fun to talk to . It's a shame I cant recall his name but he ensured we had a great time. Cant recommend this place enough !

If you're reading this, make a reservation and order the paella. Casa Amelia was the first restaurant my husband and I visited during our layover in Barcelona and I still have dreams about this place. We made reservations ahead of time and arrived a few minutes late. We were seated at a table outside and enjoyed dinner on a cobblestoned street lit by candles and surrounded by flowers. The ambience was magnificent and the food superb. Menus were available in English and Spanish. After some discussion we decided on the paella which was served with a black rice base and teeming with delicious seafood. *Not pictured here, my husband literally liking the plate* Everything was perfect. We were glad we made it to Casa Amelia, and I'm confident you will be too!

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

The service was excellent, our server spoke English and knew so much about American pop culture. He even sang NSYNC songs to us while serving us dishes. As for the food let's get into it: - Lobster Croquettes (8/10) We've had a lot of croquettes this trip, but these were on another level, get one per person. - Paella (7.5/10) Different style of paella from other places we went. It was almost like a paella curry, which was still rich and delicious. - Squid Sandwich (10/10) This is hands down the best appetizer I've ever had. The squid was packed with flavor and the mayo sauce they used paired perfectly. Order one per person, and be prepared to order another to go. - Garlic Shrimp (8/10) Solid entree paired with sourdough bread. Dip that bread into the sauce and you'll be satisfied. - Aged Beef Steak w/ Foie Gras (9/10) This might be one of the best steak dishes I've had traveling abroad. It was cooked perfectly, and came with a potato crust on the bottom and Foie Gras on top. Definitely a must order. Overall a great experience, from the service and ambiance to the quality of the food, this is a must try when visiting Barcelona. Would I go again? Absolutely!

Cañete was booked out for 2 weeks straight, so we decided to risk it and see if we could get a spot as walk-ins; and were lucky enough to want less than 5 minutes before being sat at the "bar" in front of the open kitchen, which is honestly the best seat in the house IMHO. You get to see all the 'action' and interact with the friendly and often funny staff. Everything in the menu we tried was fantastic, but a few standouts for me were the squid sandwich (do yourself a favor and try it, even if you aren't a "squid person" the bread is fresh, and the butter garlic sauce they use should be sold in bottles at the supermarket), the lobster croquet was refreshing, and the aged beef steak with foie and truffle sauce was delicious and cooked to perfection.
