Great little gem in Old Town Leander! Stopped in for Saturday morning breakfast and had a small Vanilla Latte, Languisa(?) Quiche special, banana nutella danish, and blueberry lemon pound cake. The quiche was new this weekend and just created by the chef and I really hope they make it a regular. It was busy but the staff was on point and the place was very clean and well kept. The quiche slice I had today was good. Their cakes are beautiful but taste dry. The quality is inconsistent. Food is really good but customer service is not that great! I called on Wednesday to inquiere about a cake for my kid's birthday and I was told to send an email with details. So, I sent an email on Thursday, another one on Friday and nobody got back to me so I finally called back again on Saturday. They told me that someone will get back to me because they were really busy and they did have availability to make the cake for the day I needed. On Saturday, I received an email asking for colors of the cake and I replied to it and I added a picture but nobody got back to me after that. I waited to see is someone would get back to me on Sunday or Monday but nobody did so, I called today Tuesday because I am running out of time since my kid birthday is this coming Saturday. The lady who took the call said she will get back to me soon with all details but she didn't so I struggled to find somebody to make my kid's cake with a 4 days notice for their lack of customer service. Let me start by saying, I love this place! The l people who run it are gracious l, friendly and always in a good mood. Must be all the coffee. The ambiance of this place gives off Sunday morning in the garden vibes. A great place to slow down and really enjoy the scenery. Now to my favorite part, the food. The baked goods are solid across the board with the standout being the cinnamon roll. Not super traditional but super delicious. Big, airy and an ample amount of frosting to fill the crevices. They used to serve a grilled cheese with a Portuguese stewed meat that was out of this world. I won't tell you what I'd do to taste it again because I think it's illegal. The only reason I docked a star is they are often out of what I'm looking for or no longer serve it but haven't taken it off the menu. read more

Amazing . I am not gluten free but my mother is & so far I have been here twice. First time tried the gluten-free oatmeal cream pie - that was a really ridiculously amazing cookie! And today we tried the gluten-free beautifully decorated pumpkin sugar cookies. That was very spongy and moist. Very surprising for me because I thought gluten-free things would taste worse- lol. To say this is the WORST customer service/experience I've encountered is an understatement. I called Donna, the owner, 2 months before my sisters wedding to order a custom small cake. 2 weeks prior to the wedding, I called again to confirm the design and date/time of pick up. This past Saturday, I showed up to pick up my sisters wedding cake and Donna had written the date down wrong (even though I confirmed twice) and did not have a cake ready for me. She ended up using the cake batter from someone else's cake (strawberry instead of the red velvet I ordered) and only took $15 off my cost for something that was completely her fault. In terms of the taste of the cake, it was also just okay. The part that topped everything off was when we went to pick up the cake hours later, she didn't use the design we discussed. I pulled an image from a cake she had made prior to assure it would be the same - see attached images. The colors were also much more neon and she added a blue trim that I didn't ask for, which really made it look like a kids cake versus a wedding cake. At the end of the day, I would highly advise against ordering a custom cake from this bakery. Donna is unreliable and disorganized, which is the opposite of what you want when preparing for a special occasion. After this incident, I went further back in their reviews as well and saw I'm not the only person this has happened to either. This by no means was a one off situation for this bakery. read more

WOW! Just WOW! I can't say enough good things about this quaint adorable little Bake Shop. You can tell they are truly passionate about delicious quality food. From savory to sweet it was all soooo good! This place is a MUST visit! I highly recommend their savory puff pastry's, cheese puff balls, and this decadent rich putting called pots de creme! I am apprehensive about giving 5 stars (reserved for amazing, or best I ever had), but well deserved in this case. Some are saying they are a little pricey. I don't see it. Not cheap, but absolutely worth what you pay. A small, new little place behind Leander City Hall has finally brought fine pastries to Leander. This is not a "same old thing" business. I have only been twice, but everything I've had has been on par with the finest pastries. This morning I had 2 fresh from the oven Portuguese custard tarts, and my wife had a cranberry orange muffin. Take this from a fussy foodie who has eaten around the world... Great, best around pastries. I believe they change up the items regularly, and you'd better get there early before all of the good stuff is gone. My challenge... The best danish I ever had was a Coconut Cream Danish from Kelly's Coffee Shop (long gone) in Honolulu. If anyone could beat that, it might be Casa Costa. Great job. I swear to you, it does not taste like it is Gluten Free -- it was so moist and delicious. My husband and I tried 3 different places around the Leander area for our wedding cake. Casa Costa was the winner! Their cake was delicious. The red velvet set apart because it had mini chocolate chips in it. So good!! The strawberries and cream was the perfect amount of fruit and sweetness. The dark chocolate with raspberry moose complimented each other perfectly. We gave the owner what we wanted our cake to look like and I was anxiously waiting for what felt like 10 years to see the cake. When I saw it at my wedding, it brought tears to my eyes. I was absolutely blown away!!! I had contacted them in secret after our tasting to ask if they could add a fondant dog and cat. They happily said they could. Again, I was blown away with the dog and cat!! Everyone absolutely loved the cake. It was so beautiful and so tasty and I would choose this bakery again and again. Everyone I worked with was wonderful! I'm still in awe of how beautiful the cake was. I'll be thinking about it for years. read more

Update 11/1: We took some friends here for lunch on Sunday, and it was incredible. Our friends had the Brazi-Bowls, one with chicken and the other with beef. Both were very filling, and delicious! My wife and I split their specials: a steak and a bacalao casserole. I don't see how you can go wrong with this place. This is my go to bakery. They have many items you won't find anywhere else that I know of. There's a Portuguese influence that makes for some wonderful treats. Cookies, pastel de nata (I think, lol) that are like egg tarts. These are great if you like a custard type desert. They have cookies, muffins, truffles, cake pops, a long list of items. You can also get whole cakes. They also have breakfast sandwiches and quiche that are out of this world. The potato bacon Gouda quiche is my favorite.
