My sister had visited this coffee shop during the week and she had got me a piece of their tiramisu cake. To me, the taste of tiramisu can sometimes taste too, overpowering with the coffee taste, but their tiramisu was just perfect. I know for sure. I stopped in in the morning to get delicious Portuguese tarts. I ordered a dozen from the very engaging proprietor. I also ordered breakfast sandwiches. Jamon Serrano and cheese on a Portuguese roll a d a steak egg and cheese also on a roll. Absolutely delicious! Also picked up fried dough with okey wine sauce which was yummy and tasted like French toast to me. Small shop with seating and so Many delectable pastries. While I waited I was offered an espresso which was perfect. The walls are decorated with Portuguese fabrics. It's all very homey. I will become a regular here. After getting done with an appointment, I decided to check out this cute and quaint café. Once I entered, I was greeted by the wonderful owner and ordered myself a hot tea and tiramisu. The tiramisu was one of the best I've had. From the smooth spongy coffee soaked ladyfinger to the delicious creamy mascarpone. It was perfectly crafted. My friend and I happened to stumble upon this place when we were killing some time in Millburn before a show at the Paper Mill Playhouse. It was our first time in Millburn, so we were eager to find something good in this area and we found Casa Das Natas and it was so gooooood. ***In a rush? Skip to the end for my tips.*** We actually walked in when there was about 30 minutes before they closed, but they were so welcoming and took the time to explain all the different pastries, desserts, and drinks they had that were all authentically Portuguese. The owner told me that everything was freshly made. We definitely got one of the pastel de nata and we got a dessert called 'ovos mole," which had a sweet egg filling and the outside looks and tastes like the communion wafers. They were both very delicious. And, the owner recommended trying a drink that was imported from Portugal that was a carbonated fruit drink. I tried the pineapple flavor and my friend has the orange flavor and we loved them both. And then, we couldn't resist getting one of the pretty desserts on display, a lemon dessert. It had a thick layer of lemon curd on top of thickly whipped cream and on the bottom was something like a vanilla cake. And, this was one of the best desserts I've ever had. My friend and I were blown away. There were other versions, like a berry one, but I can't remember exactly. Now, I must go back to try the other versions and to get more of that lemon dessert. Tips: - Don't forget that they close early at 5:00. - Also, I'm seeing from other reviews and saw for myself that they sell out quickly of their popular items, so if you want first dibs, get there early. - Parking - There is street parking all around municipal parking lots nearby, as well. - They also serve food there and I'm sure that will be good, too. read more

Casa de Natas is great we stopped here for a nice Saturday brunch. The panini was great. I hade the Serrano which was ham cheese and portuguese prosciutto. Great coffee. My husband had the bifana sandwich. It was a bit underwhelming and small with very little pork in it, but now i know what Portuguese Rolls are really supposed to look like and taste like. Our sandwiches were served on glorious fresh Portuguese rolls. Then for dessert i had the torta de ova. They make their own desserts here and i was pleasantly surpised. The torta de ova was a meringue roll with yolk custard and cinnamon. It is similar to the Filipino dessert called Brazo de Mercedes. I will put this on my calendar to visit during the weekday before 5pm. I also want to get a Portuguese chouriço. OH my my. This place is awesome. read more

Once a month I go to this cute and small sweet store when I go to my hairdresser in Millburn. I grew up in the Ironbound section of Newark so it reminds me of the Portuguese bakeries there. This particular day I went on a Friday at closing time. The owner told me that she was about to close but had a few left over natas. She went to the back and came back with 2 natas. A regular and almond. I tasted both and they were a little chewy. I was not a fan. I then returned the following month and asked the young cashier for a few natas. I explained to her that the ones that I had the last time were chewy. The owner heard what I said and omg came at me upset and stated " my natas are always fresh." I trued to explained to her about my last experience. She rushed to get me out of the store I then paid and will never go back. It has been months since the incident . I am sorry but she has to hold herself to a higher standard and take criticism. The lady was mean, arrogant and almost kicked me out for expressing my experience. Please never give her a bad review for her Natas. If not you will get the same treatment. Cute spot and the Natas are great. But please refrain from negative experiences she doesn't want to know about it. read more

Been waiting for a portuguese bakery to open in town so once Casa Das Natas arrived, I was super excited. The outside and interior was decorated beautifully. Their products down to the water was portuguese to I tip my cap to that detail. Pasteis de natas, their bread and butter obviously, were delicious. One downside? Their selections were extremely scarce -- Id say 90% empty and I walked in there at 10:00 AM. Not sure if it was super busy the two hours or so beforehand but even the Natas were at half a dozen left. Kind of a bummer but I'll be back! Definitely happy to see them in town! read more

It's no wonder they, at times, sell out (which is probably the biggest drawback of the experience). Was not planning or needing any sweets, but walked past this cute little shop with my daughter and it looked so colorful and inviting we couldn't resist. The store is very clean and they were disinfecting when we walked in. The owner is sweet and patiently answered my questions about what each food item was. We tried a bola de berlim -- like a donut with a delicious, custardy, not overly sweet filling. I'm not a DD hater, but this thing is 100 times better. Also tried the pastel de nata, which were incredible, flaky and delicious. Meant to take a photo but my family devoured everything too quickly.
