Casa de Montecristo is somewhere I kept putting off coming to & I regret that. This place is incredible!! A large venue with a large lounge, enormous cigar selection, full bar & restaurant. Staff were very helpful & friendly. You have to take your time and look through this place just to appreciate it. They even have ashtrays mounted on the wall between urinals so you truly never have to leave your cigar behind, lol. They have a huge parking lot as they sit on a site all their own. I was surprised to learn that when ordering food (not desserts or drinks) you get a cigar with it. You don't choose it, they do. I got a 'Romeo y Julieta Reserve,' so a quality cigar, not some random nonsense. Not truly sure if that is every time, or just your first time there, which for me it was. I ordered their parm garlic wings & they were very good and well prepared. The space is great & very comfortable. Servers come to you and take your order and bring your food, so you never have to even leave your lounge chair. I found 4 cigars that I hadn't been able to find elsewhere & 2 cigars that I ended up ordering online in the past. Now I know where to find all 6 for future enjoyment. Prices on everything are fair. For 5 cigars, food, non-alcoholic drink, & tip I spent about $110 & got a good complimentary cigar. This place will be highly recommended by me moving forward. read more

There are very few places left in the world where you can smoke cigars indoors while eating lunch. The food here is very mediocre ... and expensive! You do get a free cigar (which is actually a pretty nice, brand name stick in most cases) with your meal, which I am sure goes with the cost. Before the world went utterly insane with inflation ... It used to be one of the best deals ever. The food was $12.95 plus the free cigar! Now, it's more like $23 per sandwich. Owch. The best value was the cheese plate, which at $15 was huge and included fruit. Now, that cheese platter is actually smaller than it used to be and costs $44! The decor is pretty cool ... dark and moody ... but there are a couple TVs with sports playing and high ceilings. The air purification makes it smell a lot less like cigar smoke than it used to ... but know that whatever clothes you wear here will likely need a dry cleaning after. The waitresses have been here forever ... and there are a lot of regulars. Imagine what a guy would look like that would want to smoke a cigar while eating and that's exactly what you will find here as a customer. Fake Sopramos accent ... beefy ... loud ... gold chain ... It's a 'bro crowd' for sure with some flashy investment banker types mixed in. Lots of Hummers and G-Wagons in the parking lot. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves cigars. The food is edible and in some cases even good. But nothing amazing. I've had the corned beef sandwich ... don't expect NYC deli quality ... the flatbread (Trader Joe's is just as good) ... and the Cuban sandwich. All okay. The Cuban left me hungry. You can also eat at the bar and peruse their extensive whiskey and beer menu. This is my spot! The staff is very friendly and professional and on hand to answer and questions. I usually come here to stock up since it's a little bit of a travel. Once I stock up and quality cigars I always sit down in the lounge area and smoke one with a cup of coffee. The service in the lounge is great. The place is clean and the music is great. They have five flat screen televisions and plenty of seating. There is also another room. The restrooms are clean and there is plenty of parking. The biggest Humidor I've ever stepped into. You can enjoy a cigar with anything you would like to drink. They have an excellent selection of wines, whiskeys and bourbon. They also serve nice looking tapas to eat. The service is efficient and friendly. Come ready to spend, because although you can buy single cigars you will want to buy plenty more. They also had selections like the West Tampa Cigars, you will find hard hard to buy anywhere else. The only good thing about this place is the humidor went to celebrate my friends 60th and all the seats had signs on them about not moving the furniture! We sat in a corner that they charge us $25 to sit because now sections are roped off. The experience has gone downhill since a manager took over who has a very distinct style. He essentially treats his customers like children with rules that are very unfriendly. Do not try to move furniture 1 inch in either direction or you will be told to move it back. Even if you can't hear your friends talking. There are limits on the amount of time you can spend there when busy. he'll explain to you his vision for the future of the business which is out of touch for what his competition offers and simply is not customer service oriented. The food is mediocre at best. The wait staff is friendly as long as you are buying otherwise they will turn right away from you as if you don't exist. Decided to take my boyfriend there to celebrate his birthday , the place came highly recommended by a friend .. this was our experience : Jessica ( the hostess ) was just so pleasant and very patient while we walked around to shop for cigars and get familiar with the place. In the humidor all the associates were extremely helpful and even for someone like me who doesn't smoke , this was quite impressive to see . Even tho we had reserve for the restaurant we decided to seat at the bar where we were greeted by Raquel , she was just so awesome answering our menu questions etc . She even helped me surprise him with a raspberry cheesecake including the sparkling candles I brought in . ( very accommodating) The food was great , we had BBQ chicken wings , lemon grass chicken dumpling ( that was amazing ) and the carnitas tacos . I have been coming here for a long time. This place should be a cash machine. Every time I think it might get better, nope. The food is bad, the beer is not much better, and the service is terrible. What happened to this once wonderful venue? Planned a visit for Saturday night. Called on Thursday to ask if I needed a reservation, there were three in my party, and was told it was not needed for three and wouldn't be a problem. Arrived and was asked if I had a reservation by the Manager, "Mike". When I told him that I did not and that I had called to ask if I needed one, he became rude and told me that I should always make a reservation, well that's fine but then don't have your staff advise me not to. He insisted that no one would advise that and huffed and puffed about trying to "find" us a table in the back if he had one. Minutes later, literally, miraculously he "found" one. Upon being escorted to our table, the dining room was practically empty, with the majority of tables empty and this was on an NFL playoff evening. Also, to note, the tables did not become occupied as the night wore on; "try to find" us a table? OK. Why put up a fuss in the first place, it wasn't as if he, as he made it sound, was fully occupied with no available seating. I've been coming here for over 20 years and this place was great. I don't know what happened. The menu has completely changed. The portion sizes have shrunk and the prices have skyrocketed. One consistent thing, servers are still rude, always were. Throughout the course of our time spent we also had a very unpleasant situation occur, regarding one of our possessions being thrown in the trash, an accident, I get it, but really made for an unpleasant situation. All in all, I will not return, and I travelled from Queens just to come here! What once was a wonderful place to smoke, drink and grab a bite has gone down the toilet. read more

I've been a customer here for years so when my nephew called and asked me where to go to get a humidor for his father's birthday, naturally I suggested J&R. He called there yesterday and asked if they had anything in stock around $400 and was told they had plenty in his price range. So today he made the 45 minute drive to pick me up and we drove another 20 to Whippany to pick one out. Not sure if the definition of the word "plenty" is negotiable but upon asking the less than friendly clerk, we were informed that plenty meant none. They literally had some that were under $100 and the rest were over $1500. Okay, no big deal. They can stock as they wish but why waste our time? He did say that they might have one in the back but he was too busy to check. Fast forward 20 minutes when he finally got around to it and nothing; wasted trip. Now, perhaps the pandemic his driven the cigar market to the brink where their employees are simply too over worked to bother offering accurate replies to their phone inquires or maybe, just maybe they didn't give a shit. This placed seemed like a great idea, I called ahead and made a reservation in advance. No one on the phone new what was going on- stating you can't smoke in the restaurant, or that the lounge and dining room had different menus. Showing up, they had our reservation and said "this is the only table we have", as they walked us into a nearly empty dining hall. No explanation on when to get cigars, or if they get added to the bill, or we pay as we go. We ordered drinks and appetizers, and stated we'd keep a menu to order our entrees when she came back. Well the waitress comes back, spills half our scotch on the table, then says the kitchen closed "40 mins ago"! So it took 40 minutes for a drink and appetizers, with no mention of the kitchen closing or "last call". Overall just a terrible experience with horrendous/clueless staff in an otherwise potentially cool place. Made for quite an embarrassing business meeting which should have been pretty easy to accomplish with a cigar, a drink and a sandwich. read more

This place is the ultimate destination after a long week at the office. The atmosphere is just so calming it instantly relaxed me the moment I walked in. The food and drinks were outstanding as well. We got a charcuterie board for the table, which was awesome, as well as an order of quesadillas which were delicious!!!! Kudos to Michael who has continued to upgrade the customer experience with proactive customer interaction as well as continuing to provide a great and diverse selection on the menu. Today I had the Shrimp & Lobster Roll which was delicious ! Additionally I would be remiss if I didn't mention Felix who provides great service and insight in the humidor section when purchasing cigars as well as just interacting with all of us in the lounge and bar to make us feel like family. Finally, the service at the bar is second to none with Coney & Diana providing attentive and superior service and making the time spent with them friendly and comfortable. As a member of Montecristo with a locker for my cigars I will be spending more time at the bar to experience their superior customer service. This place used to be great - friendly, great bar food, watch the game(s), a place where people from all walks could gather and enjoy a fine cigar. That has changed for the worse - much worse. The new management is very unfriendly - almost belligerent about being customer friendly. Despite 99% of the customers enjoy watching sports on the many TVs in the "lounge", the management openingly hates that customers want to watch various games. The TVs all have to be on the same channel even if multiple games are broadcast. The seating is deplorable with chairs that are very old, worn out, and very uncomfortable. As long as I've been coming here, the chair havent changed and they were never comfortable. Now, the cushions are non-existent. When I say the chairs are uncomfortable, I mean REALLY uncomfortable. And, you actually get yelled at if you want to move a chair as if management doesnt understand that smoking cigars is a communal, social activity. What's the big deal if someone moves a chair? Then there is the menu. The food used to be good bar food. Now the prices have practically tripled as if they fashion themselves as a boutique or a specialty restaurant - which it definitely is not. $30 for wings???? The new management sucks. They think no one cares because there are few places nowadays to smoke a cigar indoors. That attitude is a sure way to failure. read more
